ITunes Producer Won't Launch

Greets,
When I try to run iTunes Producer 2.9 I get the following error message:
"You can't open the application iTunes Producer because it is not supported on this type of Mac."
I've checked the system requirements and it states:
"iTunes Producer 2.9 for books requires a Macintosh with an Intel Core processor, at least 512 MB RAM, and Mac OS X v10.6 or later installed."
I am running a Macbook Pro with an Intel Core Duo 2 Ghz processor, 2 GB or Ram, and Mac OS X v10.6.8 with all updates installed. Anyone have any idea what about "this type of Mac" is incompatible with iTunes Producer 2.9?
Thanks!
-Christopher Buecheler

I finally determined the answer to this issue. My mac is an Intel Core Duo (NOT a Core 2 Duo), which is 32bit. The new iTunes Producer requires a 64bit processor. So unfortunately there's nothing I can do except buy a new Mac, which isn't happening. Oh well. Hope this helps people who are having the same problem!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • ITunes suddenly won't launch

I suddenly can't launch iTunes. I have followed Apple's iTunes uninstall procedure to the letter, restarted my computer and downloaded and reinstalled iTunes, the latest version. It won't even open.
It crashed while I was updating my iPod Touch. I realised it was filing the empty space with music which was going to take too long and clicked off the option. The program suddenly crashed and now won't launch. I removed everything to do with iTunes and reinstalled it several times. Still not working. Are there other files that iTunes uses that are not listed but might be causing the problem? I don't want to have to reinstall the entire operating system and all my programs again just to use iTunes.

Oh yeah... I tried deleting the com.apple.iTunes.plist file. Didn't do anything. Also verified the disk (no issues) and repaired permissions. None of that fixed it...

  • ITunes 11 won't launch; tried almost everything

I know there are dozens of threads about this, but I've already read many and tried their suggestions. Still no go. I'm incredibly frustrated here.
I'm running Windows 7 and iTunes is mostly refusing to work.
I say mostly because it did start once yesterday, but my entire library was missing.
But typically, I click the shortcut, the pc "thinks" for a second, and nothing happens.
I have tried repairs, uninstalling (also uninstalling Bonjour), updated Quicktime, selective startups, some registry tweaks, added anti-virus exclusions... I'm out of ideas and ready to take an axe to my Ipod.
Suggestions? I'd really appreciate any help!

    Hello Steveriffic,
Thank you for posting all the information about the steps you have taken to resolve this issue.  I would be frustrated too if iTunes consistantly would not launch.  I found an article that has a few other steps for this issue that were not listed in your post.  You can skip any steps you have already taken:

  • ITunes 10 Won't Launch in All User Accounts

I recently updated to iTunes 10 on a G5 running OS X.5.8. I was distressed that the playlist in my user account was not transferred and I was obliged to import anew my music library with no organized albums. What’s worse, iTunes couldn’t be launched at all in my wife’s user account. An error message reported that the “iTunes folder is on a locked disk and you do not have write permissions for the folder.” I did all that I know to do to OK write permissions for for my wife’s account with no success. Given that my iTunes library was “updated“ for version 10, I could not reinstall a workable earlier version of iTunes. I assume I will have to recreate my playlist, but at the very least, is there a means to launch iTunes in all of our user accounts?
    Thanks for any help.

check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access.
the important part is to *apply to enclosed items* !
    also check this support article.
I assume I will have to recreate my playlist

  • ITunes 9 won't launch on new Windows 7 laptop

I installed iTunes 9 on a Windows 7 laptop. After installation, I tried launching it and it doesn't appear. It's in Task Manager, but never shows on screen. I tried the Apple cleanup instructions, Windows Cleanup Utility, and then reinstalling, and it still won't show the GUI. Any recommendations?

If iTunes.exe appears on the processes tab and persists although iTunes doesn't open, it suggests that iTunes is hanging during satrt up.
Bonjour is a common culprit so try stopping the bonjour service in "Services". If that allows iTunes to launch, you can disable the bonjour service although you will lose some network functionality.
    If that's not it, try:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363?viewlocale=en_US
If that's not it you can investigate the problem using MSConfig to see what is causing itunes hang.

  • ITunes 7 won't launch

When I downloaded updated to iTunes 7 I can't open it. I get an error message, "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unkown error occurred (0x666D743F).. What can I do?

I'm glad it's not just me! I'm having multiple problems with ipod/itunes and that's one of them! If I may,I'll repeat my post I've made on another computing forum. Though please understand i'm not trying to hijack your thread or anything.....! Anyway,
I was given the 30Gb Ipod for my birthday. The disc supplied with it included Itunes version 6 and the ipod updater is 2006-06-28. I installed everything ok and purchased a number of songs and a video from the itunes music store. However I've been having multiple problems.
    1. When I restart my pc it 'forgets' it's authorised to play files downloaded from the store. I have to log on and authorise the machine again before I can play the files on my pc or update ipod.
    2. The music video I purchased copies to ipod and plays on it fine. However if I open the file on the hard drive in itunes it plays with no sound. If I open it in Quicktime it plays fine.
3 When I tried to add some other videos that were already on my harddrive I had all sorts of fun, namely:
Some files will not copy to the library. I click on 'add file to library' and select the video I want to add but it just refreshes the library without adding the file.
None of the videos that I did manage to add would download to ipod because they were in the wrong format. I understand that, but two of them were already quicktime files (.mov). Should you have to convert .mov files before they will play on ipod?
I then converted two other mpg files. When I updated ipod, one of them transferred ok,but plays on ipod with no sound. The other did not copy. I got an error message saying 'some files were not copied to ipod because your ipod software is too old. Goto www........to dowload the lates ipod updater'
So I go to the Apple website and find the link which is telling me to dowload and install itunes version 7. Did that, only it won't run! When I try to open it I get 'The application could not be opened. An unknown error occured (0x666D743F)'. 2006-06-28 won't run either as it just tells me that 'this version of ipod updater is no longer supported. You must now update using itunes v7'. Only as I 've said I can download version 7 but can't frigging get it to run! So I can't update my ipod software!
Sorry if this is long winded but can anyone make any sense of some of it and offer some hints as to what's going wrong?

  • Itunes app won't launch ... Please Help!

I have been having this problem off and on where iTunes starts launch (IE: does the bounce thing on the dock) but then stops ... the icon is visible and I can force quit the application as if its sunning, but it never launches. I've tried reinstalling ... restarting ... trashing preferences ... repairing permissions ... etc. etc. Each of these methods has worked once or so ... but now none are ... so I have no iTunes! Drag! Incidentally, I am running an iBook g4 with osx 10.3.9. Itunes 6. Thanks in advance for any help!!!
    -Matthew

    Matthew hello,
Go to the main boot System library and open the Receipts folder...
drag to the trash... iTunes4.pkg and check to see if any other 'iTunesX.pkg' files are there, if so, drag also to the trash but only the ones starting with 'iTunes' leave all others untouched and close the folder.
Check that your HD is in order with 'Disk Utility' ...
Run repair HD from original CD or DVD install disk...
insert disk and re-start holding down the 'c' key until you see the spinning gear.
At installer level do not continue...
Use top left menu and go 'Disk Uitility'
select your HD volume with Operating system on...
select 1st aid... select repair Hard Disk.
if errors are repaired run again until none are reported then verify your HD.
quit and return to the Finder
Check the pemissions are set correct on the Apple installed software...
use 'Disk Utility' from Applications > Utilities > select HD... select 1st aid. repair permissions... if repairs are needed run again until none are repaired... do not worry about messages 'we are using special permissions etc... they are OK Quit when finished.
Download iTunes 6.0.1 .... then install.... If you have any doubts about the integerity of your system you should run Mac OS X Combo Update 10.3.9 (I recommend you do this) ... download and install 'combo' 1st and then do the iTunes install.
Now do the HD repairs and permissions repairs again, as above, in the same order. Important
Your iTunes program should work OK now but there is one other piece which is optional but I recommend it as good thing to do and that is, Check and set correct permissions on all your music files.
Use BatChmod to set correct permissions on your home ~ Music folder
This compact GUI will perform the same tasks as a 'terminal command line'
drag the complete Music folder with libraries and iTunes Music folder inside to the BatChmod Icon and drop....
check path is correct.... tick if not already.... Owner=R W X, Group=R, Others=R,
then tick 'Apply ownership and privileges' tick 'Unlock" ... click Apply...
provide password... all done very quick...
Check you do not have any XBox / Digi setups running that do not have the latest drivers installed.
If IE is giving problems I suggest you re-install as well.
See how it all goes now after 1st dragging from the dock the iTunes Icon and replacing it with a new copy, by dragging the iTunes Icon from your Applications folder to the dock and start from there..
Any questions ask 1st and do later not the other way around... take care... TP

  • IOS7 iTunes crashes / won't launch

I went to browse the iTunes Store today. When I launched the app I saw a brief glimpse of the search tab in the app followed by the entire screen being occupied by a stretched-to-fit iTunes logo. Then crash! Launched again; same thing - crash!
iTunes finally launched after about 5-6 tries. I closed the all and re-launched - crash again! Another 4-5 tries later the app launched again.
The last item I viewed in iTunes was an album I was linked to from Facebook. Then before that I was searching an artist.
I'm not sure what caused this big but it is annoying. If it keeps happening I'll restart my phone. I don't know what else I can do.

I probably shouldn't have marked as a question. I know about hard resetting the phone and it's something I will try if needed.
There is something wrong in iOS7 that needs fixed. Hopefully this isn't something that happens often.

  • ITunes 8 won't launch

    Hi there everybody,
i just installed iTunes, but the software isn't running at all.
Operating System: Windows xp pro sp3 with full updates, and just removed PC Tools Internet Security. I also tried to repair iTunes installation but isn't working.
    Whate else could i try?

Here is my method for diagnosing the cause of error message free launch failure with iTunes persisting the task manager with WIndows XP.
It is most commonly due to a problem with cryptographic services.
Before checking if iTunes works, restart your PC or close the iTunes.exe process with task manager if it is running.
A couple of simple things to try:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1776?viewlocale=en_US
Stop the bonjour service, this FAQ has instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2250?viewlocale=en_US
But usually it is due to a problem with cryptographic services.
Check to see if you have your smart card service and that it is not set to disabled. For some reason iTunes needs it.
    Start>>Run>>Services.msc
you should find the smart card service in the list. Report back with your findings.
Malware can interfere with cryptographic services and also prevent a resolution so it is important to check that your system is clean before proceeding: Run a virus and spyware scan with up to date definitions.
Then work through *Method 4* in the following link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798
You should be able to copy and paste the individual lines to save on typing.
Make a careful note of any error messages you get, they are important for diagnosis. Report back any error messages especially the names of any dlls mentioned.
If there are no errors try starting iTunes.

  • ITunes LP won't launch

I bought two Metallica albums, "Ride the Lightning" and "...And Justice For All," both of which came as iTunes LP options. Neither of them will launch as the LP, nor will their digital booklet display in Adobe Reader XI. The Rise Against album that I bought didn't come as an iTunes LP, but its digital booklet will display in Adobe Reader. Any suggestions?

    Hi nholloway2007,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're unable to view a digital booklet, you may want to delete and download it again by using these steps:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
You can also report an issue with the purchases by following this article:
