ITunes Proxy Authentication & iTunes Store can't connect

1) Stop Proxy Authentication Window
To solve the issue with the Proxy Authentication window coming up over and over please add the following to lines to your Proxy Configuration above the first DENY rule:
acl iTunes browser iTunes
http_access allow iTunes
2) Access Content in iTunes Store with Proxy
If you are having any issue with Content being displayed in the Store with Proxy, please follow the steps below:
In the Internet settings remove the tick next to "Autodetect" and "Proxy Server"
Launch iTunes and Connect to the Store (you should see no result when on Corporate network with Proxy)
in the Internet settings add the tick to "Autodetect" (or) 'Proxy Server" (set as you had before)
Launch iTunes and conenct to the Store, you should see content.
If you did above whilst on Corporate network with Proxy you will see badly rendered Content.
If you did above off Corporate network with no Proxy conencted to the Internet you will see the Store rendered correctly.
If you try this step once off the Corporate Network, the rendered content looks correct even when you connect to iTunes store via Proxy after the fact.

I have the same problem. The only firewall which I use is the wondoes firewall

Here are some things to try:
    Close itunes
    Check your internet settings.
Control Panel – Internet Options – Advanced
Check SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0
Uncheck “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)”
    Click Apply
    Click Okay
    Open itunes and try again
And, you don't need to turn off the firewall, just add itunes and itunes helper to your security software firewall.

  • Safari (updates and itunes store) can't connect

When using Safari on my home network I cannot connect to any website. I will get messages such as "Safari can’t open the page “http://www.apple.com/” because Safari can’t connect to the web proxy server (HTTP). To change your proxy settings, open Safari Preferences, click Advanced, and then click Change Settings. For help with this problem, contact your system administrator." I am the network administrator. Also itunes store, and software updates will not connect. Entourage and mail receive mail but with question marks instead of images. Firefox has no problems, and when running network assistants diagnosis all seems OK - all green lights.
My son's identical MacBook (with seemingly identical network airport settings, but running 10.5) will connect to the iTunes store and also to websites using Safari, as will both of our ipod touches. My MacBook will actually connect to the iTunes store using my same network when running WinXP using vmWare fusion.
I have tried to change Safari's proxy setting through its preferences, but the Proxies>change settings button is ghosted - so I have accessed the network settings for my home location to ensure that no proxy checkboxes are checked. (I have tried automatically detect proxy settings, but still no go). I have created new network locations and tried many combinations of settings (network assistant's diagnosis is always all green lights, whenever I have used it.)
I have also emptied the system configuration folder from preferences (along with com.apple.internetconfig.plist, com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist, com.apple.internetconnect.plist) and rebooted with no joy.
I have ensured that I have the current versions of Safari and iTunes installed and am at a loss. I don't know when this first happened, and can't think of a change that I have made that would have precipitated this. Safari does function at work on the work's network, and images do come through to my mail at work. I am assuming that I have a setting at home that is blocking. (I have turned my firewalls off and on to check, but again no success.)
I am about to buy an iPhone and am waiting til I can sort this issue. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Richard.

    HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
If you have Safari 3rd party plugins, they may not be compatible with 10.6. Go here for trouble shooting.
If you use GlimmerBlocker by chance, that could be the culprit. Check out this thread.

Same with any Input Managers. Move any files in the /Library/InputManagers folder to the Trash
If you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
Go to ~/Library/Cookies and move the Cookies.plist file to the Trash.
Try Open DNS - Free / Basic
If Safari still can't open web pages, go to the Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If Safari loads web pages then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.

  • ITunes proxy authentication BUG

    Hello there,
i´m starting the iTunes 10.7 under Windows 7.
iTunes 10.7 gets the proxy settings from the IE9. Now the iTunes wants an proxy authentication o.k. ... but in my case i must repeat the loggin 5 TIMES.
Remember my Passwort ... dont work....
Anyone else have the same Problem?
Does anyone know iTunes 11 fix the proxy authentication BUG ???
How can i solve this problem ?

I have this issue, but at least 10.7 gives you the option to put in your authentication details.
iTunes 11 does not have proxy authentication at this point in time so do not upgrade if you require this.
I have upgraded to version 11 and now can't access the iTunes store.

  • ITunes proxy authentication

How to use itunes through a proxy server with transparent authentication with Microsoft AD? Itunes constantly asks for a password, and if you specify to save the password after password change attempts to authenticate the user under the old password does not work and has not deleted the file keychain.plist? How can I fix this?

  • My phone keeps resetting and then shows the icon to plug into itunes but when i do itunes tells me that it can't connect to my phone because it has a passcode and wants me to unlock it to connect. My phone only gives me the option to make emergency calls.

My phone started resetting today over and over and then shows the icon to plug into itunes. When I tried plugging in, a message pops up saying that itunes can't connect because my phone has a passcode and i need to unlock it to connect. my phone won't let me do anything more than make an emergency call. it wont give me the option to enter my passcode to unlock the phone. What can I do?

After a visit to the apple store, they were able to get through my pass code but unfortunately I found out that is was a problem with the logic board. Since Apple only wants to sell and not fix, I was able to locate an iphone repair near me that deals with logic boards and they are currently working on it right now. i should be getting it back soon. Im not sure if the problem you are experiencing is the same as i went through but it does sound like it may be also a hardware issue and would suggest searching online for an iphone repair place that can diagnose what exactly is wrong. Hope this helps.

  • In application purchased failed can not connect to itunes, In application purchased failed can not connect to itunes

Why can not purchased item from application meanwhile my credit card already verified, the statement from application " in application purchased failed can not connect to I tunes please go to ITunes support"

This what Apple's iTunes specific error codes support article says about that particular error.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • Error 11222 after installing itunes 7.7 and i can'st connect to itunes.

    is there a simple solution?

For those having trouble with upgrading itunes due to quicktime upgrade problems this is what worked for me:
Use this link to install the Windows install cleanup and remove EVERYTHING apple and quicktime related.
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
For those with connection to itunes store...Connection refused
    This worked for me:
    1. start menu
    2. run
    3. msconfig
    4. services tab
    5. click on all apple and quicktime boxes
    6. apply
    7. restart computer
Hopefully someone else will find these helpful and pass them along to the appropriate places.

  • Music Store - Can't connect - BIG DISAPOINTMENT COMING ON CHRISTMAS DAY

I have 2 iPods under the tree, a brand new Dell PC and a new broadband connection to support them but can't connect to the Store. Just sits there and runs til it times out. I have tried all the tweaks recommended on this site to no avail including the ones for McAfee and Windows Firewall. This seems to be a common issue but can't get anyone from Apple that knows anything to talk to me. I CAN ONLY IMMAGINE THE BACKLASH AGAINST APPLE ON CHRISTMAS DAY WHEN A MILLION KIDS WITH XP OPERATING SYSTEMS, NEW iPODS AND iTUNE GIFT CARDS IN HAND CAN'T HOOK UP TO THE STORE. MY iPODS ARE GOING BACK IF I CAN'T GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. HELP!! PLEASE!!
Dell dimension   Windows XP   Service Pack 2

"I have disable Firewall, Spam, Privacy and still not connected"
disable does not equal turned off. Are there still icons in your system tray? If so, they can still be culprits here.
Check your IE proxy settings. Some ISPs insist on messing with them. If a proxy is enabled, disable it and see what happens.
You have a Dell. That could also be part of the issue. Unfortunately they seem to have a disproportionately large number of issues. Hmmm, don' t they have a media device of their own? Interesting there should be so many Dell issues
You haven't given us a whole lot to work with regarding your computer, so the best I can offer is go to the Dell support site and install each and every update or driver they have listed. Even if you can't see a connection, get it. There have been cases of a video driver keeping iTunes from working and IDE drivers making it crash.
Do you have a router between your computer and your connection? If so, what? Try removing it and plugging the computer directly to the modem.
I've got tons of stuff. Problem is, as mentioned before, you need to be more specific about the issue (which you have, thank you) and the attempted remedies and their outcomes. Lacking that, I could get CTS typing out all the possibilities
