Itunes purchase not authorized to load on my ipod

I just bought a book from the itunes store, and when I try to load it to my ipod I get an error message telling me that I am not "authorized" to play those on this computer. I guess charginng my credit card wasn't enough authority.
Has anyone else experienced this and how can I fix it asap?

Hm... I can see that the Apple techs are all over this one. I would be satisfied with a link to where this answer has already been answered. If it doesn't get fixed, how can I get a refund? I'm finally beginning to recognize the fatal flaw in the ingenius ipod system... Absolutely NO support for itunes. I want to talk to a person and straighten this out.

  • Not Authorized To Load Music Onto IPOD message

I just did an Erase and Install of Leopard. I had backed up all of my music to an external hard drive before. I drag and dropped all the itunes music and files back over to the computer again, started ITunes, and now it says I have tons of music I'm not Authorized to put on my Ipod.
I went into settings and Authorized my computer using my .mac account, and then iTunes downloaded like 200s songs.... but it stills says there's more songs I'm not authorized for. Any suggestions? I just want to have all the music I paid for, and I'm not really sure with the same computer it was on in the first place, is no longer authorized.

You cannot merge accounts, unfortunately. As for accessing the cox email account, you should still be able to use its login info even if you no longer have access to that address. Be it you cannot remember your password or whatever, you'll need to email the iTunes team:

  • I have a new laptop and it says its not authorized to load my....

I have a new laptop and it says its not authorized to load my library of  music I have ALREADY bought and downloaded on my old laptop..HELP?

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

Right click the filename that won't download and selsct 'Get Info'. Look at the file path, does it have a //?// in it? That is a problem with Amazon downloads that prevent iTunes from finding the file. Use 'Add Folder' to add the album to your library and try syncing it again

Updated to Windows 8.1 and ITunes will not recognize the nano 6th geneartion IPod. I tried all the things that was listed on troubleshooting. Help

  • Itunes will not syc with one of my ipods?

iTunes will not syc with one of my ipods?

A bit more info for those of you reading this.... the problem seemed to be in iTunes. For each connected device , if I clicked on the Photo option I could no longer select the second radio button for limiting the photos by Events, Albums, etc.  It was an all or nothing deal. But selecting all would cause the error.
So I had read the other forum posts about the "&" symbol being the cause of the problem.  I went through iPhoto and made all of the changes. It did not work. I then looked at iTunes, using the AlbumData2.xml file listed in the other forums as a reference.  I found one album with the "&". I edited that one.  Still would not work.  So then I spent 3 hours on the phone with AppleCare last week. I talked with 4 different advisors. None of them had heard about the "&" error from the forums. We tried everything in iPhoto including repair and rebuild.  Finally we created a whole new library and reimported my master photos from my original one.  Using this option would allow me to now check off that radio button in iTunes.  BUT... I now lost all of my albums and events and would need to rebuid them.  I was not happy. They agreed and we set up time to talk this week.
So today I talked with AppleCare again. They now have more info and said the problem has to do with iTunes and the new iPhoto 9.4. It does not like the "&" symbol anywhere in either iPhoto or iTunes. So they now have me going through everything in my iTunes library. Genre is OK but any other item cannot have " & ". I have several dozen to edit and will do it over the weekend and then restore my original iPhoto Library and see if I can finally get it all to sync. I will let you know how I make out, but apparently you need to eliminate " & " from every entry in iTunes and iPhoto.
Quality control is not up to par with Apple these days.

  • ITunes says, "not authorized on this computer" when syncing purchases

I purchased applications and an audiobook from the iTunes Store on my computer. I then tried to sync these to my iphone with iTunes on the same computer. It gave the error message that these items could not be synchronized because they were "not authorized on this computer". My iphone is the computer that is not authorized.
I had the reverse problem going from applications purchased with iTunes on my iphone to back them up on my computer. This time, my computer was the one not authorized.
Both iTunes accounts (iTunes on my iphone & iTunes on my computer) are using the same Apple ID.
How can I get iTunes to sync purchased items with my iphone?
    Thanks!
    Heather

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes and sync the iPod again.

  • Purchased iTunes tracks "not authorized to play"

Odd problem - anything I've bought from before the 17th of August has decided that it's been authorized on more than 5 machines and will no longer play on my Macbook. Only thing is, it hasn't - my media has stayed on this machine and hasn't moved - it may be authorized on one other machine, but certainly not 5! Same thing has happened with my iPhone apps - ie. anything from the iTunes store seems to be affected.
Any ideas why it would suddenly decide that I can't play my audio / video purchases any longer? And how do I deauthorize the other 4 "ghost" machines to get my media back!

Man, this is apparently happening to more than just me. Which makes me feel a 'little' better. But still ****** me off because I can't watch a single movie, TV show I've purchased going back years. Even 'free' downloads!
Songs play fine. It's only video content. Like some of you, I've also received almost 'overzealous' emails from Apple, attempting to help me resolve the issue. My guess is, they screwed up, they know it's quite obvious they screwed up, and they're trying to quash all this before it gets out. Plus they want to avoid issuing massive refunds to numerous customers. I would imagine this could become kinda pricey after refunding just a handful of iTunes user's purchased movies, TV shows, music videos, et al.
I was even desperate enough to try purchasing a new movie, thinking another purchase would 'hopefully' prove to the software (as if it's intelligent!) that I owned the content long since purchased, sitting on my hard-drive. Fat chance. That would have been too easy.
Crazy thing is, all shows, movies, 'iTunes-downloaded video' of any kind, transfer and play on my iPod same as always. Even after syncing since the problem started.
My computer keeps giving me the same error message: "This computer is not authorized to play this content. Please open iTunes to authorize computer." Or something similar. That's the gist anyway. Never mind the fact iTunes already IS opened or I wouldn't be OPENING the content to begin with.
The problem totally has Apple stumped and I want my old, "pre-Genius" iTunes back because that's when this problem started—with iTunes 8.
The perpetual fixing of what's not even broken, repackaging it, and then re-selling it to us all over again is beginning to drive me a bit crazy. No wonder some of the top audio engineers and producer friends of mine are still using G3s and G4s that they never connect to the web—keeping their machines 'frozen in time' and protected from any downtime from ludicrous updates.

  • Music I bought on iTunes now not authorized??

I upgraded to version 7.0 and had problems so I decided to revert back to version 6 until all issues are fixed. The last two albums I purchased on iTunes were removed from my iPod the next time I went to update and iTunes told me that it would not load those two particular albums because my computer was not authorized. What do I need to do in order to get them back on my iPod seeing as how I purchased them from iTunes and this is the only computer they are on.
    Thanks,

    nevermind, figured it out.

  • IMovie says iTunes music not authorized, but iTunes says it is authorized

A problem has developed in iMovie where it is not recognizing my iTunes authorizations, despite the fact that the songs are authorized and they do play in iTunes.
I have purchased songs in iTunes, and iTunes will play them. But iMovie has stopped playing any iTunes purchased music, claiming that "This computer is not authorized to play....." and suggesting that I open iTunes to authorize.
I've tried deauthorizing my computer and then authorizing it again, and that has not improved the problem.
    I'm running:
    iTunes 7.3.1 - last updated 2007-07-14
    iMovie HD 6.0.3
    Quicktime 7.2
iMovie has always played these songs in the past, so I know that they can play. This problem seems to have appeared since the last iTunes update.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I was born in Chicago. Maybe that's the
    problem?
    LOl! Probably!
To "authorize" playback requires an Internet
connection (now we know that, too).
That's why I asked about the Internet
    connection.
    Absolutely-I thought that was a good point-especially
    the wireless thing...
As a side note, why would a wireless versus hardwired internet connection matter? I know I'm connecting to the Internet. And I've even deauthorized my computer (and then none of my songs will play in iTunes) and then reauthorized it (and they play again in iTunes). But iMovie still says they're not authorized.
And, in case anyone was wondering, I only deauthorized/authorized my computer in iTunes after iMovie started showing these symptoms.
The problem started after the last iTunes upgrade.

  • Why is my recent apple tv purchase not authorized for my New iPad

I recently purchased an Apple TV and a new iPad....when I try and sync, one of my movies comes back as "not copied to iPad as you are not authorized to view it on this computer?"  Its in my iTunes library so I don't understand?

  • Some purchases "not authorized"

The last week or two, about 1 in 30 purchases from the iTunes store will not play The "this computer is not authorized" notice pops up, but when I go to authorize the computer, I get the message that the computer is already authorized (it is a macmini from 2009, running automatically updated iTunes and OS 10.6.8, also set to automatcally update).  This morning it happened with "natural facts" from the album Juke Joint Blues 2.
As far as I can tell, it only happens with songs I am trying to play for the first time, and also, as far as I can remember, usually only once per album.  This has not been a problems with songs downloaded from Amazon, Rhino, or direct from CDs.

iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases - http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1389.  If your country permits re-downloads, delete the file and re-download.
