ITunes purchased on iPod Touch disappear

I purchase songs on my iPod Touch and they disappear after a week or two. Does this happen to anyone else? I manually manage my iPod because I don't always use the same computer HELP!

Yes that has happened to me also. It's because the apple mobile itunes store has some bugs in it but if you do buy songs on your touch, make sure you transfer purchases from your ipod to at least one of the computers you use. The songs disappear usually when you just connect your touch to your computer and open itunes

    Ok I haven't recieved my Touch yet, and i'm trying to get my library ready, but, because i'm not 'up to scratch' with encoding methods etc etc ... if i've bought music videos/Tv shows and the like from the iTunes Music Store. Will this content automatically be the ratio of the iPod Touch screen when synced? - Or do I need to re-encode all of them to fit the screen prefectly?

    Ok so I just got my ipod touch the other day and i synced a movie that i bought from ITMS and even synced a movie that I had converted in itunes using the "Convert selection to ipod" in the advanced menu. Both movies appeared so great ! Especially the store bought movie. The detail was great for the size of the screen and there was no pixilation occurring. THe movie that I had to convert took some time so do when you have some down time. THe music videos that i bought from ITMS were also great to watch. THe ratio of the music videos, and movies will fit perfectly on the ipod touch.
    Any movies that are bought that are widescreen then they will appear as so on the ipod touch. But the ipod touch allows you to zoom the video to fit the parameters of the full screen. So any widescreen movies will have some clipping on the edges. There as no such clipping on the music videos i tested it with. I would not worry about re encoding any of your videos unless they are not converted to fit the ipod. Cause any such video file will not sync to the ipod touch and you will need to convert them in itunes.

    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

    You sync music the same way as on the Classic. What you sync to an iPod does not effect the iTunes library on your computer.

    All sales are final.  It sounds like you did notdo yourhomewok before yu purchased the app.  That is not Apple's fault.

    Thanks - I didn't realize that.  I'm also embarrassed to admit that I don't know how to transfer the audio files from my iPod to the iTunes library on my computer.  When I select a book from the list on the iPod, the only option I see with the right-facing arrow symbol is "Show in iTunes Store ".  I back the iPod up to this computer so I guess those files must be on it somewhere, but all I can recognize in the iTunes folder under " Music"  are the music files found in the "iTunes Music" folder. (There are also a ton of files named "iTunes Temp (some #).) The Books list on the computer shows some but not all of the audiobooks -  I purchased the rest on a different computer that is now unfortunately dead. I'm guessing now that those didn't transfer over when the new computer was populated from the old one, so the iPod may be the only place where those audiobooks now reside.  I hope that made some sense- any additional advice would be appreciated.

  • I recently purchased an iPod touch and it is not being recognized by my computer, iTunes is also freezing when I try to close it out.  Anyone have suggestions?

  • I purchased an Ipod touch and the instuctions told me to go to Itunes download and everything seemed to be going fine until the message came up that a program that itunes needs to run is being used.  I have never had I tunes on this computer.

    I purchased an Ipod touch and when I tried to download 10.5, it stop loading and gave an error message, A program it needs to run is being used by another program.  What will fix this problem.  I am running Vista and this is my first time trying to download ITunes.  The only Apple device that has been connected is my wife's I Phone 3G.

    Yes. You just have to have the music in your iTunes Library. It doesn't matter where it originated.

    Are you sure your computer is authorized for this? This is probably your issue.
    If you go to the "Advanced" tab on the top in iTunes, is there a "Deauthorize computer..." button or an "Authorize computer..." button? If there's an "authorize computer" link, then that is your issue. Authorize your computer, and you should be able to transfer iTMS purchased songs from iTunes to iPod.

  • Wi-Fi iTunes Store via iPod touch will not download songs onto iPod

    First off, my wi-fi is working generally. I can, for instance, access the internet and the iTunes store via my iPod touch.
    However, after "purchasing" music via the wi-fi iTunes store, the iPod briefly displays the animation that the music has been purchased and is sent to the downloading que, but then quickly disappears from that que with no songs downloading at all.
    I am signed in properly, I have tried reseting the iPod touch completely, but to no avail.
    Suggestions?

    Figured it out.
    After registering my iPod Touch through iTunes, I did not attempt to download any music directly through iTunes onto my computer. All attempts were through the wi-fi store on my iPod Touch. So, I downloaded The Reminder, by Feist, through my computer and it worked just fine. However, prior to downloading I was put through some legal jargon/user agreement blah blah, that I had to "agree" to to continue. Once I did that, the downloading began. Subsequently I went into the wi-fi iTunes on my iPod Touch, and successfully downloaded a song.
    I can only assume that the issue was that I had to first agree to the user agreement document through iTunes on my PC before I could actually download music through the wi-fi/touch version.

    If all else fails:
      1. Go to: Apple Express Lane;
      2. Under Product Categories choose iTunes;
      3. Then choose iTunes Store;
      4. Then choose Account Management;
      5. Now choose iTunes Store Security and answer the bullet questions, then click
          Continue;
      6. Sign in with your Apple ID and press Continue;
      7. Under Contact Options fill out the information and advise iTunes that you would
          like your security/challenge questions reset;
      8. Click Send/Continue.
    You should get a response within 24 hours by email.
    In the event you are unsuccessful then contact AppleCare - Contacting Apple for support and service.
    Another user had success doing the following:
    I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
    Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
      a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
          tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
      b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
          "done", in the upper right corner
      c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
          Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
          should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
          security questions.
      d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
          selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
          should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
          questions.
    It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.
