ITunes Purchased Songs are Protected files don't play on iPod
I purchased a whole album from iTunes store - they play on iTunes and download to the iPod however the iPod just skips over the song and won't play them. I have done everything advised by iPod support (re-load/update software, RRR, deauthorise, authorise PC, burn to CD disk and re-load) Nothing has worked.
These song files are MPEG-4 Audio file (Protected) therefore even when burnt to CD they remain in this format.
Can anyone help with how to get my iPod nano to play them OR get iTunes to un-protect them.
Thanks
Did you just change your signature? If not, do I feel dumb!
Okay, now I understand. Odd. I have five different computers authorized to play the few songs I've bought from the iTunes store. And those tunes are currently playable on both my iPod and my wife's. So you should be able to do it too - I think.
I can think of two possibilities. First, Apple just recently delivered a new iTunes version and an iPod update. You've installed both? Second, I recently went back and looked at the iTunes terms of service because at the last user group meeting we had a little disagreement over them. One sentence seemed more vague than I remembered it. What I recall is that up to 5 computers can be authorized - but what I just read was 5 devices. I wonder if in a recent update Apple is suddenly counting computers and iPods toward the 5 device limit. Could that be affecting you? (I'm an update behind right now and I haven't bought any music from the iTunes store in about a year.

ITunes purchased songs: is there any way to play them on a non apple produc
So I have an iPod. I have many songs purchased from iTunes. I have a Verizon wireless cellphone with Vcast. This plays music using Windows Media Player (WMP). Is there any way on God's gree earth to import my purchased songs into WMP so I can place them on my phone. I understand this is why the iPhone was created, but I don't have that kinda money and I like Verizon. Please help, anyone. Is there software I can buy to convert these songs. Anything please.
I was not offended. I was not trying to seem overbearing either. I was not suggesting you had any criminal intent.
You can burn iTunes purchased music to CD. It is the process of changing the format of that purchased, whether to use it on another player or to thwart the encoded DRM-protection that Apple discourages.
It is that process of converting DRM-protected music that we can not help you with here. -
Purchased songs show up, but won't play on iPod
Hey-newbie here. I checked out iPod 101 and it doesn't address this exact problem (or if it does, I'm thick and can't see it!).
I bought some songs off iTunes. They show up in the Purchased file and in the Library. They also show up on the iPod, but when I got to play them, they skip to the next song. I've restored, deauthorized and reauthorized, turned off virus protection-what am I missing? The iPod is one week old! Arrgh! TIA.Don't have a solution, sorry for that; but you wouldn't happen to be Tia Ann would you?

Why do the AIFF files that play successfully on iTunes not play at all on my iPod? My software is up to date.I'm on an iMac and use a year-old 30GB iPod.
Details: The files in question are Centerpointe Holosync meditation "tapes" that depend on subtle differences in frequencies. I was told by a fellow user that I was losing the subtleties when I transfered the CDs to iTunes in the normal way and that I should use AIFF formatting. So I followed the instructions and, I thought, successfully copied the CDs onto iTunes; the "get info" screen tells me that indeed they're in AIFF. As I said, the tracks play just fine on iTunes, but I must listen to them using headphones, and the iPod gives me nothing but silence.
I'm sorry if this issue has been addressed before. I've spent the last half hour searching and just gave up and decided to post this as a new question.
Novice here; please be kind. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!Problem solved, if not understood.
I converted the AIFF files to WAV, and now they play.
I'd appreciate it if someone would explain why this was the case, but the problem is not a real problem any more. -
Itunes purchased song stops half way through
I recently transfered my itunes library to a new Macbook 13 inch. It was tricky to do because my library was on an external hard drive. I did have to redownload some, but not all of my purchased content. Now many of my itunes purchased songs are clipped midway through the song when played. This is only happening to songs that I purchased in itunes. Any ideas as to how to fix this problem? Thanks!
If you are in a country where re-downloading is possible (check this with iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085), delete the track (and the original file) and download again (Downloading [using iOS or computer] past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519). See tips on downloading in https://discussions.apple.com/message/19097773, especially unchecking the "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" box in the downloads tab of iTunes.

Why can I not use my itunes purchased songs in idvd/imovie?
Upto about two months ago I had no problem adding itunes purchased songs in my idvd / imovie projects - now I cannot. A warning message comes up about needing to authorise the computer and although I am using the same mac as I did when purchasing the tracks I still go through the process of authorisation - the tracks are still not available.
I have just purchased an xbox 360 and when connecting my ipod my purchased songs are once again unavailble to play even though I can play them using my ipod in the normal way.
Any ideas would be very welcome, thanks!!wilson68
You're allowed play the music on up to 5 devices. Each device must be authorised. Unless you can connect the xbox to the apple store to be authorised, you will not be able to play the music on it.

Where are music files stored when playing a song stored in iTunes Match?
Where are music files stored when playing a song stored in iTunes Match? Instead of clicking the cloud icon and downloading the song, I simply double click the song and it starts playing. Later, I can quite iTunes, come back and not have to wait for the song to buffer. When I go to about on my computer I am told there is 11 gigabytes of music on my computer. Where are those files stored, do they clear themeselves over time, etc...
but then why does the FAQ state this:
Does iTunes Match stream or download songs?
On a computer, any songs stored in iCloud will stream over the air when played, though you can download them at any time by clicking the iCloud download button.
Do they mean a different computer than the one with the stored music files? Would be nice if they specified what they mean -
How to import iTunes purchased song into video with "Muvee autoProducer"?
Using an iTunes purchased song and also "Muvee autoProducer" for the first time and can't use my iTunes purchased song to import into my video. Following the instructions the song doesn't come up as a MUSICFILE, but it is found by selecting ALLFILES. It is an Audio file (protected). For some reason the Windows Media player symbol appears as the program to open file. I select to add it to my video and an error occurs:
"The format of the music file that you have selected is not supported."
5(80040265).
Have I done something wrong ? Can I change the file format in some way to use ?
Solution is greatly appreciated THANKS!I think I have figured it out. I found Popcorn 3 and Crunch by Roxio which will do the job!
Thanks everyone!

How do you get iTunes purchased songs to automatically play one after the other
How do you get iTunes purchased songs to play automatically one after the other without having to hit play for each song ? Also I lost all my pictures on my iPad when I installed iOS 7 upgrade. Any way to get them back? Thanks. Dr Ron.
Hi Dr. Ron,
By your question, I am wondering if you are playing your music from the iTunes app rather than the Music app?
In the Music App, you can go to any of the options at the bottom and click on a song to play and it will then continue to play the songs in that category. You can also select "Shuffle" to shuffle them.
As for your Photos, did you have them backed up anywhere?
Cheers,

Can't burn itunes purchased songs onto a cd
I created a playlist consisting of previously downloaded songs (not purchased from itunes) and itunes purchased songs. When I attempted to burn a cd of the playlist, only the previously downloaded non itunes were burned into the cd. During the burning process the meter at the top of the page indicated that the itune purchases were being read, but when I played the cd on my car cd, and later on a friends cd, the itunes purchased songs weren't there. When I play the burned cd on my computer all the songs are included. I've tried slowing down the recording speed, trying both audio and data cd options with the same results. I am using cd-r cd's. Can anyone help?

Problem syncing non itunes purchased songs to itunes from ipad
How can I get music from my ipad NOT purchased in the itunes store to sync to my computer? iTunes won't allow non iTunes purchased mp3s to transfer.
You can only copy iTunes purchased songs back from your iPad (or other iOS device). If the songs are not already on your computer, and you havn't got a backup of your content on, for exampe, external drives or CDs/DVDs that you can copy onot your computer, then you will need to do a search on the internet to see if there are any third-party programs that can copy them back.

How do i copy an ipod playlist into itunes- the songs are already in my library
how do i copy an ipod playlist into itunes- the songs are already in my library
I found out an easy way....
With iPod connected to iTunes, right click on the iPod playlist you want to export, choose the Export option on the menu that appears.
iTunes will prompt for a location and format to save the file. Save playlist as an XML file using whatever name and location you want (I saved as "songs.XML" to my desktop).
Then, in iTunes, go to File - Library - Import Playlist and selet the XML file. The playlist will be created in the iTunes library and will contain any tracks that are refereced in the original playlist that already exists in the library.
There may be a mesage, "Some of the songs in the (filename).XML were not imported because they could not be fund". This is because the songs you are importing have to already be in your iTunes library.
I just did this with my kid's iPod and it worked great. I found this tip on Apple Support Communities (discussions.apple.com/thread/2577582?start=0&tstart=0). It was posted by SpyglassSally and my original search question in Goole was was, "How do i copy a playlist from an iPod to iTunes".
Thanks for the responses and I hope this helps anyone else. -
the song is in the cloud and on my iphone but not on the imac. all other purchased songs are on the imac. any ideas? thanks
ITunes menu, preferences, store. Check off show iTunes in the cloud purchases. Return to your music library. Click the cloud icon to download it. You must be signed into iTunes under the store menu.

How can i transfer my itunes music library to my iphone? currently it will only transfer itunes purchased songs and not my whole library.
For non-purchased music like CD rip music, or website downloaded songs, you need some third party software to copy the music from iPod to mac. If you need details, here is a guide about how to get music from iPod to macbook. Hope it helps.
