iTunes purchased video no longer plays on 3GS after upgrade to os 4. Specifically, curious George episodes used to make my 2 year old go off to his quiet place no longer play on my iPhone. Anyone else having this issue or know of a solution? The content was purchased on iTunes and played fine on previous os.

  • ITunes Purchased Music Won't Play

OK, I must be doing something wrong. I sync my iPhone and it gets all the music I had selected. But I've discovered a number of songs that won't play...and these just happen to be iTunes purchased music! My regular mp3's will play.
Now I know the purchased songs work because they play on my Nano and Shuffle2. The purchased songs also play in iTunes.
    Any ideas?
And a second question...I've downloaded a few TV shows which play fine in iTunes but do not play on the iPhone. Is there a "trick" to playing my purchased music and video on the iPhone?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi!
I discovered that my purchase music and videos stopped playing when I went into a Tully's coffee shop and attempted to access their Wi-fi network. I don't know if this was the cause of me losing access to my purchase music, but this is when the problems started. When I got home today I unloaded all the music playlists off of my iphone using itunes, and then I added them back in and re-synced. This seem to do the trick. I can now listen to all of my purchased music and watch my purchased videos. Give it a try. I hope that we don't have to do this sort of thing all the time.

  • TS1718 purchased videos won't play

I use Windows Vista Home Premium and the videos I purchased in 2010 which used to play without problems are not playing anymore.  When I click on the track all I get is a black playing screen that shows the title and running time but when I click play nothing happens.
Anybody know how to fix this?
    Thanks!

I checked out the article and did everything that it said to do but still no playback on my videos.  Nothing changed.
Wiclee, thank you for responding to my questions but I am disappointed that I cannot watch any of the videos I bought 2 years ago.  I can't understand why they won't play now and I don't know what else to do.
I would greatly appreciate if anybody can tell me how to contact iTunes about this because my compute settings all look to be right.
I looked at the system requirements and was wondering if it's because my laptop doesn't have a Pentium processor.  Mine is AMD and always worked before.  Did iTunes change something that makes it impossible for people with an AMD processor to play the videos???
Anyone know more about how I can resolve this issue, thanks in advance for your help!

  • Purchased Videos Won't Play

I have purchased TV shows, recently and in the past, and they no longer play on my itunes. What I have done:
         updated itunes
         updated quicktime
         updated EVERYTHING
         restarted the computer
         deleted and re-downloaded videos
I am using os 10.6.8 and have updated everything, including itunes, which I really hoped would fix it, but it didn't and now I have the new itunes (which I hate.)
    Any ideas?

The video is really jerky and the sound cuts out a little, kind of like a dial-up stream I suppose. If I had the patience, I could watch the whole 20-minute video but I doubt it would get better, the first two miutes are terrible and it doesn't improve at all. I don't have a virus and I have plenty of resources. I can play other videos just fine. The iPhone demo on "Large" plays just fine. This problem is only limited to purchased videos.

  • ITunes purchased videos do not play correctly

Since upgrading to iTunes 7.6 my purchased videos (music or otherwise) no longer work. The audio is ok but I only get bands of color for video. I have upgraded to the latest QuickTime and it didn't help. All other video (DVD, internet, etc.) work fine, it only appears to be my iTunes videos. Has anyone else encountered this?

  • Purchased videos won't play smoothly

I thought I would give iTMS a spin and download a couple free videos before I spent any money. Boy am I glad I did. I can't get any of the videos to play smoothly at all. They are a little better using just quicktime but it still isn't acceptable. I went through all the troubleshooting steps but nothing worked. I believe it is a music store-related problem because I have videos in higher resolutions that play just fine. Could somebody help me out?

  • ITunes U videos won't play

On my macbook pro, iTunes U videos will not show up but I can still hear the audio. It works perfectly fine on my Windows 7 PC. Is there any reason for this? I have tried opening the file with Quicktime player, Quicktime 7, and various players but still only get audio. It is a powerpoint video by the way; ___.ppt.mov. Is there any way to fix this? Thank you.

Videos under "movies" work fine btw; both audio and video.

  • Itunes purchased Content won't play

I have several itunes store purchased TV shows witch have played fine up until yesterday. Now when I select a show to play nothing happens. The show also no-longer appears on Apple TV. All other non-itunes store purchased media plays normally. I have tried both reauthorize and de-authorize of the computer, but when I do I get the following msg:
+*"There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer.*+
+The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or de-authorize this computer of the permissions cannot be changed."+
    I have also repaired permissions.
Any ideas how to fix this bug?
    Thanks

    Fixed!

  • After itunes update to 10.7.0.21, videos won't play

After udating to the latest version (10.7.0.21), none of my videos will play. These are all itunes-purchased videos that have played before with no problems. I do not receive any error messages from itunes. Instead, the video jumps, skips, and freezes like a DVD with scratches! The audio and video are completely disconnected from one another, and after about 2 minutes of this, the whole thing just freezes. This NEVER happened before the 10.7.0.21 update.
I tried the user fix of unchecking the Quicktime Preferences 'Enable Direct3D' box and restarting the computer. This did not help. I then tried putting Quicktime in Safe Mode, and restarting the computer. This also did not help.
    Suggestions?

Likewise! I only have iTunes to watch US TV, so I don't have to wait 2 or 3 years for R2 DVD.
When it didn't playback video right I downloaded quicktime and have put it in safe mode, but quicktime does exactly the same thing, so no help. BBC iplayer is working fine and TV downloaded from blinkbox also plays fine in windows media player. Hmmmm, at least I've something to watch, but I've just paid £30 for a season pass Apple!
I'm on an advent se1101 pc running windows 7, just ran windows update to fix IE security, so though of itunes and updated that, REALLY wish I hadn't!

my videos won't play in my itunes- just blank and no sound but running like it was playing something

    I have this same problem.
Did you install the QuickTime update?
I'm reinstalling mine, and seeing how that goes, cause I read on another thread that fixed a similar bug. I'll let you know how it goes.

  • ITunes 7.4 won't play music videos

When I doubleclick on a music video, iTunes 7.4 won't play the video, only the music. Music videos where playing fine with prior versions of iTunes. No matter which option I choose in the Video Playback preferences, iTunes won't launch the video. Restarting iTunes didn't bring back music video playback either. Podcasts and Movies are playing just fine though.
    Any help ?
    Thanks

I had the same problem and I landed here - OS10.7, had iTunes 10.5.2 *thinking* it was playing - acts like it was?, shows pause icon - no audio, no actual playback.  ...Scrubber dot didn't move onPlay click. (And, dam, I was hungry for music!), but..  That's where I discovered it.  Of course, I had browser audio probs, too - YouTube, Hulu - and Skype - any app output audio was affected...
I struggled with this for at least a day!  Frustrated, I took out my other OS10 boot drives and tried troubleshooting...  No dice.  I halted CoreAudioD (whew) out of desperation...  I checked my audio lines..  Then I remembered I installed a trial of ProTools with an Avid audio driver (maybe looking for Digi-approved devices) at around the time of trouble.
My SysPref audio panel was showing only Avid's device - no line in, no ext spkr..  So, I ran the ProTools uninstaller to try that. That's where EVERYTHING went back to absolutely normal! (After the restart).  SysPref Audio panel shows all!  I selected LineOut (for me), and I got it.
iTunes and other audio-service-consuming apps suddenly didn't take 4 minutes to launch!, and my Lion install was like I first had it.  ProTools has a dedicated uninstaller - install that clean.  If you have a PT install that works, check the iLok config - my iLok is active and attached, but not for PT 10.  Maybe it's avid device->CoreAudio, may it's due to the PT trial???... Whatever it was, for me, the problem lied there.
Hope that helps any of you guys.  Good luck and thanks for the direction, bros..

  • ITunes purchased videos and all DRM movies will not play on iOS 8 devices when streamed from an external drive (or streamed from other wireless devices). Any solution in sight?

Video streaming of DRM movies, purchased from iTunes and other vendors, to any iOS device is not working.

I am not sure if you really understand the issue at hand. Possibly that you are just scanning, not reading the whole text, or simply that you just want to close a thread with your last words or derail it for whatever strange reason. So far you have been more destructive than helpful, but again this could be ignorance at best.
If you would have had the decency to read the entire thread you would have come to the conclusion that every manufacturer, I came across, has posted FAQ's to this issue but Apple. Find a short excerpt below:
SeaGate  http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/006135en?language=en_US <http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/006135en?language=en_US> Playing DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected movies in Seagate Media App Information regarding remote streaming of DRM protected movies. Most forms of DRM (Digital Rights Management) will prevent playing movies on unauthorized devices or from remote storage hosted on wireless drives or NAS drives(Seagate Wireless, Seagate Wireless Plus, Seagate Central or Seagate Personal Cloud). Movies purchased from iTunes can be streamed to iOS 6 and iOS 7 devices which were authorized from remote storage (the video could be selected in Seagate Media App and would be played in a Safari browser), however in iOS 8 this has stopped working. A bug has been filed with Apple, however this functionality has not been restored. Therefore, DRM protected movies purchased on iTunes can no longer be played on devices running iOS 8.
SanDisk  http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16668/kw/itunes <http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16668/kw/itunes> Videos purchased or rented from iTunes will not play in iOS 8 The SanDisk Wireless Media Drive and Wireless Flash Drive support streaming of DRM protected iTunes purchased movie content to authorized devices in iOS 6 and iOS 7 ONLY. The DRM protected content is opened in Safari where the DRM is decrypted and the video is played. iOS 8 issue In iOS 8 Apple device has NOT enabled Safari based DRM decryption. Therefore DRM protected content, i.e. purchased movies or TV shows from iTunes, CANNOT be streamed from the Media Drive/WFD in iOS 8. This issue has been reported to Apple. We do not have any estimated date when Safari will support DRM decryption of iTunes purchased content.

With the SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive and its companion app, you're free to share and stream high-definition content between your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Mac devices without a cable connection. Simply connect wirelessly from your iOS device to the media drive and instantly stream your HD movies, browse photos and listen to music from around the house or on the go, while avoiding the common hassles of cables, attachment limits or Internet availability

Here are the remaining issues that we are aware of in the iOS 8 general release: • Video streaming of DRM movies (purchased from iTunes and other vendors): iTunes purchased videos and all DRM movies will not play on iOS 8 devices when streamed from AirStash (or streamed from other wireless devices). These movies are digitally protected and the AirStash app sends them to the Safari browser to play (which works for all prior iOS versions). However, in iOS 8, Safari will no longer allow DRM movies to play. These movies will play when the video is transferred to the iPhone/iPad and played in the Apple's Video App or the corresponding App from the vendor.

If this is the case and Apple will not address this issue or fix it since Apple believes that movies should be protected this way, you need to let the community know that movies are restricted this way. Re: Streaming itunes DRM movies to safari on iPad not working - IOS 8 issue? [ Edited ] Options 11-06-2014 03:19 PM - edited 11-06-2014 03:22 PM Actually, this is not something we can NOT fix. It appears that Apple finally fixed an issue they had with their movie DRMs. The files should have never played in the first place. [Edit] If you have an issue with this, you will need to take it up with Apple. Click the Kudos star to say thank you for helpful posts.
