ITunes query

I tried to open my iTunes, but I keep getting a message saying something like:
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration".
I checked all my audio config, and everything seems to be running fine. I reinstalled iTunes, and it still has the same problem. Not sure what I need to do to fix it.

it does remove your Pro Key. here's a link to a post with the technique that i use for keeping track of what the Pro Key was so i can reenter it after the reinstall:

  • Logic projects transfered into Itunes query

This might not be a typical question but if anyone can shed any light on this Id be very very grateful!
When I finish a project in Express I bounce it out an MP3 so I can send it off to labels etc...A major advantage of then dragging the MP3 into Itunes is that it seemed to compress the song slightly, it masters the track a little. You get this much thicker sound once its in Itunes. I love this as it makes the song sound 10times better and more prfessional.
BUT Ive noticed that if I go to upload the song or email it to someone it loses that compression and mastering it has in the Itunes Library. Obviously I have to drag it out of my library to my desktop so I can send it in an email, in doing this its removing that magic from it.
Can anyone advise how to keep that mastering sound or why it looses it when you drag it out of the itunes library to your desktop etc...Is there a way of avoiding this??
I know this maybe more an Itunes query but I wondered would anyone have any advise here.
    Thanks a mill

    Hi,
you probably have turned the music processing on in iTunes preferences->playback. In german it means something like "improve sound", and there's a slider beneath the checkbox with which you can do this.
You can use several plugins to achieve a similar result.
    1. First, there seems to be the exciter plugin to boost the high frequencies. The exciter has the advantage over the EQ that it generates new frequencies out of the midranges, even if there are no native high frequencies in the sound material.
    2. I am sure iTunes also uses a little stereo spread, which is a good thing to implement in your master track as well
    3. Do make the sound crisper and denser, a slight master compression with fast attack/decay rates and low ratios does the job fairly good. If you don't have it already, go grab slim slow slider's C3 multiband compressor so you can treat low/mid/high frequencies separately.
    4. An ever so slight adjustment with the EQ in the stereo output channel can cast a charm on a mediocre material..
The rest is to experiment and gain experience.

  • Double click problem in iTunes (query bug)

With the recent iTunes update 7.7.1(11), I noticed that when switching between iTunes (esp. when it is in the compact mode) and other apps, a single mouse click in iTunes is often interpreted as a double click. This leads to distress when I try to pause the current track as the double click action pauses the track then plays it.
To relieve this symptom, I need to minimize iTunes and maximize it again.
Anyone else out there with the same problem?

    Hi,
    transaction VA23 is for Quotations..
so in your select query write...
    select  vbeln
             erdat ........
from vbak into corresponding fields of table <table name>
*where vbtyp eq 'B'*. (Document type for Quotation)
    Then it works.

  • Changing directory structure & song file locations: iTunes query

I have an external hard-drive which I have loaded with thousands of songs over the years but have never really used it. Now, I want to organise my iTunes songs but my limited knowledge has brought me to a stop... Please help!
On the external HDD, songs are located all over the place - the directory structure is bad - and I want to simplify it under a new structure. Some songs are also on my iMac's HDD which I also want to centralise on the external HDD. What is the best way to do this?
Also, I don't have any play lists organised so I don't mind if I loose the library information and start again UNLESS the library information also includes SONG information (artist, title, etc.). Could it be a good idea, then, that I simply start again? Specifically:
    1. Can I just use Finder to move files around and change the directory structure on the external HDD?
    2. Can I start from scratch and copy all the music files onto a new external HDD with the new, simple directory structure I want and then re-point iTunes using the "iTunes media folder location" tab? Will I lose all the song file information?
    3. What do I do with the iTunes library? Is it best to "reset" the library somehow or should I do all of this moving using iTunes and therefore avoiding dealing with the library file?
    Thanks!!!

    Driggs wrote:

you could use finder, but it would be far better if you'd let iTunes handle the moving and organizing.
    2. Can I start from scratch and copy all the music files onto a new external HDD with the new, simple directory structure I want and then re-point iTunes using the "iTunes media folder location" tab? Will I lose all the song file information?
if you want to start from scratch, i would leave the files where they currently are. again, let iTunes handle it (see below).
    3. What do I do with the iTunes library? Is it best to "reset" the library somehow or should I do all of this moving using iTunes and therefore avoiding dealing with the library file?
i would start over. launch iTunes with the option key pressed. click on +create library+. in iTunes, go preferences > advanced and point iTunes to the desired location (i.e. your external drive). in the same tab, disable +copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library+ temporarily.
now start adding content (file > add to library). when done, go back to preferences > advanced and re-enable +copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library+. next, go file > library > organize library and select both options like so
hit ok. iTunes will now move files as necessary and organize them. when finished, your iTunes music folder on the external drive will look like this
none of your music files will be renamed. artwork you added manually will be retained, however, artwork that came with purchases from the iTunes store may be lost. that can easily be added later on though.
post back if you need further advice.
    good luck !

  • 2 iMacs 12,000 miles apart and 1 iPhone - iTunes query

Could some kind person give me a blow by blow "how to" that a child of 5 could understand as to how I get the iPhone's apps. et cetera onto both iMacs without erasing iPhone stuff.
    Thanks in advance.

At the simplest level you just need to use one library, stored on a portable external USB host-powered drive.
Ideally this library should be backed up on each of your Macs using some form of folder syncing tool (sorry no suggestions as I'm a PC user) and in fact it then becomes easier to work with the locally stored copy of the library and use the external drive to keep the two clones in sync.
If you curently have media outside the main iTunes Media folder then you should first consolidate your library. If your iTunes Media folder is not inside the main iTunes folder then you'll also need to fix this first. (Post back for instructions if needed.)
Assume Mac1 is the Mac you currently manage your iPhone with. Copy the entire iTunes folder out to the external drive and then set up your syncing tool for future use such that it compares the internal & external copies of the iTunes folders and will process changes, updates, additions & deletions in both directions.
Take the drive to Mac2. It's probably best to move the existing iTunes folder here out of the way, then copy the library in from the external, set up the syncing tool and finally import any content from the original library that you want to keep before deleting the remainder.
Sync your internal & external copies each time you make the journey between your two Macs, just before you leave and when you arrive. Should the need arise you can also connect the external to any machine running the same version of iTunes.
One final provisio, most iTunes content can be accessed using relative paths from the library files to the media, so when you move/clone the library and access it from a different path or volume it all still works. However the folder that you can select for syncing Photos with the iPod works differently. Your iPhone should happily sync with just one of the two Macs or you can use a Photos folder placed inside iTunes Media and reselect the target folder if & when you want to modify the content.

  • Using same iTunes library with external hard drive (EHD) on different PCs

I know some of the issues related to this question have been touched on in different discussions but I don't think I have seen a clear yes/no and if yes, here's how, answer to my queries, so here goes.
Like another member, I would like to take my iTunes library with me when I'm away on holiday so that I can (for example) use an Apple TV with Home Sharing to watch movies in my library or pay albums in my music library while on holiday, in the same way as I am able to at home. I have a Samsung NC 10 notebook running Windows XP (which I would take with me with a Samsing Story EHD) and a Dell desktop. My iTunes media folders are now on the EHD and I think I have iTunes library files on the Dell and on the Samsung. Of course, if iTunes Match covered movies as well as music, I would use that and just take my Apple TV with me ... but it doesn't and seems not likely to.
By messing around and not properly understanding some of the discussions about this topic, I think my iTunes library looks as I expect it to be, on my Dell - though I have yet to test this by doing a synch with my iPad or iPod Touch. However, when I plug the EHD into the Samsung and open my library, I am missing at least one movie and I don't have any artwork showing for any of the movies. This is inspite of clicking Get Album Artwork, Consolidate Files and clicking to add, as a file (or folder) to the library, the missing movie which is on the EHD in the Movies folder of the iTunes Media.  In iTunes on the Samsung "Preferences>Advanced", the iTunes media location (on my EHD) is correct.
I have obviously messed something up trying to replicate my Dell desktop iTunes library on the Samsung. So:
can/should I start again (if that is the best thing to do) with getting my iTunes library properly on to my Samsung notebook? And, if yes, how do I do that?
is it really possible to have all that you need to run and use iTunes on an EHD (i.e. both media folders and the various iTunes library files (.itl, .itdb, .xml etc.)) so that whenever I plug the EHD into my Dell or Samsung I can access my iTunes library in the same way and via the same files? Or, do you always have to have the library files (at least) located on the PC you are connecting your EHD to (showing my ignorance here! )?
if you can have all the library files as well as media on the EHD (i.e. all of your iTunes library), I assume there is more to moving these from the C drive in my Dell to the EHD, than just cutting and pasting them into the EHD and then deleting similarly named files in C drive in the Samsung?
if all of my iTunes library can be located in the EHD, would I just access that (i.e. open my iTunes library) - whether on my Dell or the Samsung - by pressing the Shift key when clicking on iTunes as a programme on my Dell or Samsung, or - and I appreciate this is more basic computer knowledge than iTunes query - does the fact that I would need to access iTunes via some form of link on the relevant PC indicate why some iTunes library files would always have to reside on the PC rather than the EHD?
if the iTunes library files have to stay on the relevant PC, how can they be kept in synch - i.e. the more portable Samsung offering the same access and picture of my iTunes library as the Dell does - or is iTunes just not set up to do this, in which case I might as well ignore trying to replicate my iTunes library on the Samsung?.
Apologies for this long list of questions. Any pointers to where the answers lie or even better specific answers themselves would be very much appreciated.
    Many thanks.

I think that's yes, yes, yes, yes, and not necessary...
    Make a split library portable
Here are the typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
In the layout above right, with the media folder (everything in the red box) inside the library folder, the library is considered to be portable. A portable library can be moved from one path to another without breaking the links from the library to the media, and being self-contained it is much easier to backup and restore. (You do backup, don't you?).
You can rearrange things to make a split library portable by taking a number of small steps which don't break the library.
Before you start any media files that are outside of the media folder will need to be consolidated. If the library is in the old style layout then it should be upgraded to iTunes Media Organization (Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder <Media Folder>) to ensure that iPod Games, Mobile Applications etc. are brought inside the media folder, otherwise the links to these won't survive changes in the path of the library.
    The basic non-fatal manipulations are:
You can create or connect to an alternate set of library files by holding down Shift (Win) or Option (Mac) when starting iTunes. (Note iTunes will continue to use this library until you use the same method again.)
You can move the library files to a new location and connect to it there as long as the media stays put.
You can move the library files and the media together if the media folder is a direct subfolder of the library folder.
If you have already moved/copied the media content from a subfolder of the library folder to a different location then you only need to copy the library files for it to appear as if you have moved the entire library in the way allowed above. I.e. just copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder.
You can rename the media folder to iTunes Media (if it isn't already) if the media folder is inside the library folder.
iTunes uses the name of the folder holding the library files as the window title. Having made a library "portable" you may need to take a final step of renaming the library folder to iTunes or, if the library files have ended up at the root of a drive, moving all of the library files and content folders into a new folder called iTunes.
IMPORTANT: After each change you need to open, test and close the relevant library before attempting another change. If a change broke the library, undo it or revert to using the previous set of library files.
In essence all you need to do to join up a split library and make it portable is copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder on the external/secondary drive and use the hold-down-shift/option-when-starting-iTunes method to connect to it. Other manipulations may be required to normalize the library so that the library and media folders have standard names.

  • Itunes Radio Streaming Problem

Does anyone have any update on what is happening with itunes streams?
I pulled most of my stations into a playlist and itunes finally loaded all the streams.
I've kept itunes open since the weekend and for the joy of music have listened to some stations I might never have tried
but I will eventually have to do a restart due to something-freezing etc.
I am just hoping for some news-like it's been fixed. Thank you

I had assumed the issue had cleared up since we were no longer seeing a post every 10 minutes about it.
If you have working connections in the playlists they should not disappear.  As far as I could tell (I never had any problem), what was failing was iTunes querying some server somewhere about what stations were in a genre list.  Once you have the actual station URL in a playlist it should stay there.

  • I've just re-installed OSX mavericks and attempted to add contacts from address book, how do I do this?

if you need any further details please ask away. I'm going full Noob today.

    Hey, thanks for the reply.
I've actually resolved the question myself (Yay for me) I reinstalled mavericks and tried to restore my data using time machine. For whatever reason address book didn't copy over and neither did my iTunes library, I managed to find the answer to my iTunes query on another forum... Lol can you believe it was just the case of deleting two folders and voila! It worked... after two hours of searching.
Anyways, I found the path for all the address book files. They had little lock icons on them (weird i know) which indicated that they were locked files????? Don't know why... So (I'm done soon I promise) I unlocked all the files and viola! they were accessible by address book/contacts again.
Thanks for getting back to me though, I gave you a "This helped me" and a like just for taking the time to care.
    Cheers,

  • Custom ipod desktop icon?

Is it possible for me to give my ipod (new 160g classic) a custom desktop icon when I plug it in to my computer? Or am I stuck forever with it showing up as a black ipod?
For instance, if I named my ipod Spiderman, is there some way I can grab a jpg of Spiderman and assign it to my ipod so that jpg pops on my desktop as opposed to the good ol' ipod icon?

The Mac OS X operating system queries the iPod for it's style, as far as I know it will only show the default icon for that iPod and no real way to change the appearance.
Therefore the icon you see is the one that resembles your iPod, which must be a black classic. As my silver classic shows up as that, and my orange nano is equally the equivilant of the device.
Unfortunatley I'm not sure how or where it gets them. Etiher OS X is storing it, or its on the device and the OS X Operating system and iTunes query it.
Not quite the answer you were looking for, but thought I'd add this.

  • Why doesn't iTunes use track names on burned cd's instead of querying Gracenote?

I run a recording studio and burn cd's of original music for clients. Sometimes when those clients open their cd in itunes, titles and artist names with no connection whatsoever to their music are displayed. Why does itunes not just use the titles burned with the cd instead of automatically querying Gracenote and arbitrarily assigning incorrect titles and artists to the disc? I have even imported such a disc into itunes, changed the titles and artist name, created a new playlist with those songs, and burned a disc from that corrected playlist, only to have it come up wrong again when the new disc is opened in itunes. This needs to be fixed. Some of those clients use the burned discs as booking demos, and having another artist's name and song titles come up causes confusion and embarassment.

    ed2345,
No need for you to be an a-hole.
Fair enough, although you are better off getting that feedback from me than from one of your clients who puts 2 and 2 together.
I clearly stated that quite often these were unfinished projects, often with working titles that may or may not be the final title.
What you "clearly stated" is that your clients are having "confusion and embarassment."  Is that not sufficient for you to get those discs into the database?
....if the names haven't changed will Gracenote accept a submission of the same titles but different running times from the same artist and delete the old one?
If the running times are different, it will look like a different CD to Gracenote.  If the CD is not the final version, you should append its title with "Demo" or "Work in Progress" or a similar indication that will distinguish it from the final "real" version.
You may have a misimpression about Gracenote.  Yes, they are authoritative about commercial CDs, but they have also opened their DB for submissions to any hobbyist with iTunes and a burner.  They have tons of such things in their database.  There is absolutely no need for you to avoid putting your stuff in there.  In fact, since iTunes cannot read CD Text, there is currently no way other than Gracenote to solve the iTunes problem which brought you to this Forum.

  • New ITunes update query

    Hi.
I have an Ipod Touch version2, which holds a lot of games and music. Tomorrow i will be receiving a new Iphone 3gs. My query is will i have to reinstall Itunes, will i be able to connect both the Touch and and the Iphone to the same Itunes account and finally will i be able to transfer my existing purchases on my Touch to the Iphone.
    Many Thanks
    Christian

will i have to reinstall Itunes
If you have iTunes 8.2, no. If you have an earlier version, you'll need to update.
will i be able to connect both the Touch and and the Iphone to the same Itunes account
    Yes.
finally will i be able to transfer my existing purchases on my Touch to the Iphone.
You'll need to transfer purchases on your iPod touch to iTunes, if they're not there already. Use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu. Then once you authorize iTunes to the purchases if necessary (play the purchases and it should offer to authorize), you should be able to copy them to the iPhone.
    Regards.

  • How do you query the iTunes database by genre?

I am trying to enumerate music tracks from the iTunes database by genre.
I am able to get genre id's from the query
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStoreServices.woa/ws/genres
    The description is here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/resources/documentation/genre-mapping.htm l
I can retrieve urls to tracks with something like this
    https://itunes.apple.com/search?term=R+B/Soul&limit=2
However the search term applies to all fields and I get a mixed collection of results, many of them are wrong.
I would like to enumerate songs from a specific genre, but I can't figure out how.
I've tried multiple ways of using the "genreIndex" attribute, but I keep getting 0 results.
For example I would like to enumerate the first 10 Techno songs. Techno has a genre id=1050
    https://itunes.apple.com/search?term= any ideas??
    Thanks, Ed

Hi there are mappings for the reference fields from AP and AR, so you can buid up the links there. Just look at the reference fields of gl_je_lines and try to identify which is valuable for you.
