Itunes quick player

please can anyone out there help me,
1. i'm having problems with the installing itunes/quicktime
2. when launching send error report appears
3. when clicking on quick time not compatiable appears(tried properities)
4. uninstalled , installed completed
5. followed b noir instructions dated most recently thought I was there!!??

To answer your questions, it depends on the file that is corrupted. When you have a corrupted library file, iTunes tends to display an error message explaining that the library is corrupt, and it usually still allows you to open iTunes, but it won't list any music because it can't, based off of the current files.
Since iTunes won't open, I'm curious as to whether you can open QuickTime? Go to Start > All Programs > QuickTime Player and see if it opens or if it displays an error message.
I'd also like to know if you can open iTunes/QuickTime in a test user account. Follow these steps to create a new user:
Test User Account on Win XP / Vista
1. Go to Control Panel > User Accounts
2. Click on "Create new user"
3. Follow the prompts to create a new computer administrator
4. Restart the PC and log in to the new account
See what happens when you try to open iTunes, and then QuickTime as well.

I have been watching videos via Quick Player from my MacBookPro and Apple TV for some time in excellent quality. Suddenly now the picture quality has dropped significantly

there are many third party apps that will do it.
also, if you are able to get the video into itunes as it currently is, then you can right click on it and choose "create appletv version".

After formatting iPod to NTFS and restoring back with iTunes, the player works for two-three weeks and crashes afterward. It then requests to restore it through iTunes.

When connected to iTunes, it sees it in the restore mode and also asks to restore the iPod. It happens over and over for the last months. What could be the problem?

Thanks for a reply. iPod does not support ntfs - you're right. that means it will never work on that. While restoring ipod using iTunes, itunes reformats it no matter what filesystem is there. So the issue is not that. ipod is now on fat32 and it works for a certain period of time, but then crashes and asks to restore through itunes. Resetting/restarting does not help.

I recently downloaded (legally- so it should work) an album online and it saved into my downloads on my computer as an itunes music player file. i cannot get it to open or play on my itunes, anyone know how i can do this? thanks.

A .zip file is a compressed archive and needs to be uncompressed with an unzip utility such as WinZip. That should give you the actual track files which you can drag into iTunes.

ITunes mini player and Spaces

I am a big fan of using Spaces to clean up my workflow, but I have one minor quibble/question. I would like to display the iTunes mini player (the one you get by pressing the green button in iTunes twice) in ALL of my spaces. That way I can pause, fastforward, etc no matter what Space I'm working in.I don't really want to assign iTunes to ALL spaces to accomplish this. Any thoughts?

There are a number of utilities that will put Icons for Rew|Play/Pause|Fwd on the menu bar, or you can use the keyboard on most modern Macs with designated assignments for these functions on F7, 8 and 9.
Not exactly what you want, but like you, it's what I have to make do with.

ITunes mini player on top of a full screen Safari page

When you make a full screen Safari page, is there any way to put the iTunes mini player go on top of this page? I did this once by accident, but now whenever I try to open iTunes while in full screen Safari, the iTunes mini player opens to the main desktop page.

I'm listening to an audio podcast that's reffering to images on his sight. When you go full screen it shows the images best, but you lose the ability (space bar) to pause/play the podcast audio. It would be nice to be able to view and study the images a bit longer, but not having to keep futsing around with everything.

Itunes mini player in keynote

After searching through the forums I haven't really stumbled upon an answer to this...
Is there a way to see the itunes mini player in your keynote presentation screen? I have my macbook set up to a projector and I need to play music throughout the presentation. I would love to be able to control itunes without having to leave the presenter screen so there's no interruption in my presentation. You can customize a lot of options for your presenter screen but the itunes mini player is not one of them. Is there a workaround that anyone has found?

If you search the Keynote forums for "Dashboard" and "Widget", you will find a technique for having widgets float above Keynote presentations (and there are plenty of iTunes controller widgets). I have not tested this in Snow Leopard, however.

Apple has built the Mobile Safari Browser in a way that prevents it from supporting ANY plugins. Adobe Flash, Java, Silverlight, and even Apple's very own Quick time.
In order for a plug-in to be able to run inside the mobile Safari browser Apple would have to remove this restriction.

I have an error 42404 message. I have uninstalled Itunes,quick time, etc, etc. I then checked to make sure that all files had been deleted. I have 2 files that haven't been deleted and are still not. It will not allow me to delete them access denied.

You can uninstall the relevant extensions from Tools>Addons to remove those toolbars. Also there may be some unwanted plugins which you may want to disable. This should solve your problems.
If you still want a clean profile, uninstall firefox with the "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" checkbox enabled. Alternatively you may remove your firefox profile folder which (on Window7) is stored in C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles folder with a randomly name. Have a iTunes music player file that won't open through iTunes - help!

I downloaded a music file from the internet that is an iTunes music player file, and now when I try to import it to iTunes it won't open or even if I just try to open the file it brings up iTunes, but no music is opened or played. I've tried to change the file's format through iTunes but i couldn't figure that out and I've tried to save it as a different type of file when I downloaded but that didn't work either. HELP PLEASE! I WANT MY MUSIC!!

Useful info, Katrina. It's been so long since I had install an app to handle that (Remember Stuffit?) that it didn't occur to me that Windows either couldn't do it or didn't come with a utility along with all the other stuff that seems to come on an new computer.

The easiest solution is probably to use VLC. It can play just about anything.
However, Perian will help Quicktime play various formats.
Flip4Mac will help Quicktime play Windows Media files.

The other day I was checking out radio stations in iTunes, after I tuned to one of them odd thigs happened, i just moved on. Now my iTunes radio sounds like i am listeneing through a box or can on all stations.

It sounds like you blew out the paper cone that delivers the sound from the speaker. Depending on how much pressure you used to blow out would determine if the speakers are gone. From the sounds of it and your comment about it happened right after you blew air into the speakers tell me that is what happened. The speakers in an laptop are small and somewhat fragile. The edges of the paper vibrate when it receives the sound and after some passage of time they get weak and if you blew air directily on them, poof they're gone.

You may have a configuration problem in your network (IP conflict). Are you using DHCP?
