Itunes quit working.

I was prompted to update quicktime media player. When i did this it in turn also updated itunes. Ever since the update, itunes wont open. I've tried everything. (even a system restore prior to the update. Nothing works. somebody help!

hi phntmfoot!
When i did this it in turn also updated itunes. Ever since the update, itunes wont open.
a few questions before proceeding.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
if you're getting no error messages whatsoever, do you just see the wee hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
or are you seeing a brief "flash" of the itunes license screen (and then nothing)? if so, do you also see similar behavior when you try to launch your QuickTime?

  • ITUNES quit working on my computer

ITUNES quit working on my computer with an error message about the "MSVCR80.dll" file. I tried to re-install ITUNES, but couldn't get thatto work. I uninstalled ITUNES in the proper order according to ITUNES support. I still can't get ITUNES to downlaod to my computer, which uses Windows Vista. I get ann error message that the file can't be downloaded. Any ideas?

    many thanks.
The text of the error message is, "iTunesSetup_exe(1) couldn't be downloaded".
Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
If you can't get a working installer via the standard download links, try the following download links instead:
    iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe

  • Windows 7 with iTunes 10.5 keeps telling me iTunes quit working, looking for solution, then tells me Windows will let me know when they find a solution. Help, my phone needa to be synched.

Windows 7 with iTunes 10.5 loaded and working until I try to update apps or synch my iPhone 4. Windows says iTunes quit working and is looking for solution, then no solution but they tell me if they find one.

    Hi Lorheak,
thanks for the quick reply. I had the same idea already yesterday. I use Norton Internet Security for a long time now without any problems. I think this a Apple or Microsoft problem, because the popup window which appear come from Windows DEP. I got no message from the firewall with any problem. I check the log files from Norton and Windows already but find nothing. This is a very strange problem. In the past I have had a lot of other problems with iTunes upgrades. Everytime I accept the installation of the newest version I got errors regarding missing "msi" files.

  • ITunes quit working on Windows 7 PC - UGH

First of all, I don't sync with iTunes that often, mainly because my iTunes library is a mess.
And because of the mess, I purchased the Tuneup app to help me clean it all up.
Immediately after downloading the app, nothing at all worked.
Both iTunes and Tuneup lagged and locked on my 64bit PC.
I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, several times.
Today, a friend who is 100% Mac tried fixing me up to no avail.
    What gives?
PS: I'm still smarting from buying iTunes matching, which I feel was a complete waste of money.

Apparently there is a conflict between iTunes and Tuneup.... something I would address with Tuneup support or completely uninstall that application.
The only reason an iTunes library would be a "mess" is due to the user not managing it.  Take the time to clean up your library.  There are plenty of tools available to assist depending on what the issue is.
Regardless of iTunes being on Windows or Mac, if the user fails to maintain the library, it will become a "mess".

  • My itunes quit working!!

The most recent update for itunes would not download properly.  So I tried doing it manually and that did not work either.  When I tried loading itunes the program no longer would load due to errors.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program twice and still it will not work.  What is wrong and what do I do????  FYI I'm not a very tech savy person.

    Hey Bman1983,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iTunes for Windows. The following article outlines the error message you are receiving and a potential resolution:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Some Windows customers may experience installation issues while trying to install or open iTunes 11.1.4.
    Symptoms may include:
"The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer"
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 126)”
"Runtime Error: R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly"
"Entry point not found: videoTracks@QTMovie@@QBE?AV?$Vector@V?$RefPtr@VQTTrack@@@***@@$0A@VCrashOnOverf low@@***@@XZ could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\WebKit.dll”
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
    1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
    2. If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    3. Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
    1. Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
    2. Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using theMicrosoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    3. Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My itunes quit working, and I can't reinstall it.  I have Windows. Why?

I have a windows computer and my itunes just quit in the last few days.  I've tried to reinstall it, but it won't let me finish.  Why?

What error message are you seeing? Does it mention a dll or error code?

  • Itunes quit working on my MacBook Air.

I was listening to itunes on my way to work on my computer.  I paused what I was listening to while I walked from my car to my office.  Once I set up my Macbook Air on my desk, I wanted to resume listening, but now nothing works.  I can't get anything to play back.  This is frustrating, as I've never had an issue like this with itunes before.  What is keeping the program from working?
