ITunes Radio Commercials

Hi everyone! We were told that if we subscribed to Music Match, we would not hear commercials on iTunes radio. I'm signed in properly and I'm hearing commercials. Quite frustrating. But, if that were the only issue, I probably wouldn't be writing this. I was so excited about iTunes radio...and it doesn't work properly! Tell it to "play more like this" and you don't hear anything like it ever again. Tell it to "never play this again" and you hear it a track or two later. This is AWFUL. I guess I'm going back to Pandora...

To listen to iTunes Radio ad-free you must subscribe to iTunes Match and have it enabled in iTunes and on the iOS devices.
As to the "play more" and "play less" comments all I can say is this is still an young service Be patient with it. But since you're going back to Pandora...

  • ITunes Match and iTunes Radio commercials on Windows Only

I have iTunes Match turned on and several PC's, an iMac, several iPhones and Apple TV all registered and functional.  I seem to get commercials only when I listen to iTunes radio when listening on the Windows PC version.  The commercials are all short, but present.  I checked the previous submissions and found the Store --> Update iTunes Match command, which didn't seem to resolve the problem.  The local PC doesn't have a local library of music, but it is also registered and using the same Apple ID for home sharing.
Is this by design or is there something else I can check for disabling the commercials?  This PC is in my office and where I listen mostly, so would be nice to eliminate the commercials entirely (I'm kind of tired of the Gwen Stefanie ad coming to my screen when I am on conference calls).

Is it possible to set-up an IOS 6 device to sync with iTunes Match but also set-up additional playlists of music that are stored on the device hard drive?
With iTunes Match enabled on an iOS device traditional syncing via USB is disabled. All music managment must take place directly on the device.

I just noticed that you can download songs or whole playlists from the iCloud to your device. How long does the device store those songs? Can it be set-up to store them for for a certain amount of time?
The songs will be stored on the device until you delete them. There is no "timer" feature, though.

  • Itunes radio subscription still giving me commercials

I subscribed to iTunes Radio in Nov 2014, and periodically it resumes interrupting with commercials. There is no simple iTunes Radio support process that allows my to register my complaint. (iTunes Radio isn't even listed with your other products/services in the menu under "Identify your product and operating system.") So now I have two complaints. Where are you, Apple?

To add to my earlier complaint: I can't even use their Support Call process because it requires a product serial number, and there isn't one for iTunes Radio.

  • I'm getting commercials on iTunes Radio, what's up with that?

Love iTunes Radio, have used it on my iPhone, iPad for awhile. I now have an air mac and I'm getting commercials on iTunes Radio, what's up with that?

Yes, iTunes Radio includes commercials.  You can purchase commercial-free iTunes Radio (if it is supported in your country) by subscribing to iTunes Match.

  • Can't turn off commercials on itunes radio

I am a match subscriber.   I can't get rid of the commercials on itunes radio even though I have paid my fee and turned on match and authorized my computer (several times).  I am running windows 7 on my PC.  Does anyone else have this problem?  I wrote an email to itunes support and got a response that they were aware of the problem and offered no solutions or time frame for a solution.

Your question makes no sense, given the issue you describe.
But iTunes cloud function is under the iTunes menu >> preferences >> store.
If you mean iTunes match, that's under the store menu.

  • Why am I hearing commercials on iTunes radio when I have a match account?

Why am I hearing commercials on iTunes radio when I have a match account?

    Hi, Kilowatts05.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you have subscribed to iTunes Match and you still hear commercials when using iTunes Radio.  The usual cause for this would be that iTunes Match is not enabled on the device that is allowing the commercials.  You also must be in the United States or Australia for this option to become available.

  • ITunes Radio on Apple TV still has commercials.

I signed up for iTunes Radio a few hours ago, and since that time I tried it on my Apple TV and have found that it still has commercials on it (no unlimited skips either, but apparently Apple has since changed their mind on that perk). I've since signed out of my iTunes account as wel as reset the unit, still to no avail. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

I was not, no. I searched prior threads on this and all that it said was that the way to turn iTunes Match on was inside of Settings. Apparently Apple has changed this with more recent updates, so that's why I wasn't able to find it. I did however locate it and was able to get iTunes Match up and running.
    1. Go to Settings->Restrictions.
    2. Ensure that "Music" is set to show in the list of Apps (mine was set to Hide).
    3. Click on Music, and then choose Turn on iTunes Match.
    4. iTunes match will activate and then begin to Synchronize your playlist.
I don't know how I'll update the list in the future, but we'll jump off that bridge when I come to it.
    Thanks for all your help!

  • I sometimes receive commercials on iTunes radio even though I have Match.  Any idea why?

I sometimes receive commercials on iTunes radio even though I have Match.  Any idea why?  This has happened primarily on my iPhone.  It is my understanding that Match provides commercial free listening.

I have/had this problem too.  I have spent time corresponding with iTunes support and they can't fix it.  They had me call tech support and tech support said it is not their problem.  They refunded my Match subscription but I may just try to sign up for it again.  My theroy is that I have been a match subsciber from day one so when iTunes radio was introduced it failed to recognize I pay for Match.  I may be wrong but Apple clearly doesn't care if I pay them or Pandora for the commercial free radio so there is no motivation to solve the problem.
It is worth mentioning that it only played commercials on my desktop, not on the iPhone or Pad as far as I can recall.

  • HT203793 iTunes Radio subscription plays commercials and has no Apple Support

Is anyone else as frustrated as I with the iTunes Radio subscription service. I continue to receive commercials, and there is no Apple Support to fix the problem or allow me to cancel the service.

To add to my earlier complaint: I can't even use their Support Call process because it requires a product serial number, and there isn't one for iTunes Radio.

  • TS5181 My itunes radio stops every 30 minutes. I have itunes match, so I no longer get commercials, but it still stops at exactly 30 minutes whether I interact with songs (selecting favorites) or not.

Why is my itunes radio on my updated iphone4s stopping every 30 minutes, whether I interact with station or not?

Talked to Apple, probelm is solved. With the latest update no limits in number of hours.
Tested it - and it works!

  • Itunes Radio choppy or hard to play after upgrading to an itunes match account?

    Hello friends,
am seeking some help since I have no idea what might be causing the issue. I've been working on this during my freetime for quite a while, but I'm stumped. Hoping some of you can help me.
Basically, Itunes Radio (and my match songs for that matter) are having a hard time playing on my iPhone 5c, which has recently been updated to ios 8.1. The iphone is a 32GB phone and has plenty of space for apps and third party music players but it is not so great for a huge library. But, the main reason I upgraded to an itunes match account was because of the ability to play itunes radio without any commercials. Well, there's no commercials... but i'm also unable to play itunes radio on my iphone. It plays just fine on my Macbook Pro (2010), with an updated yosemite but whenever I try to play a radio or song from my itunes match library it goes for about 30s, then just...stops, goes 30s ... then stops. So basically, it SOUNDS like an internet connection issue.... but.... well, let me list the things i've already tried.
-- power cycle (slide to power off); same thing
-- hard restart (power + home button at the same time); same thing
-- updated the device; same thing
-- reset network settings; same thing
-- reset ALL settings; same thing
-- restored device to factory settings; same thing
    -- different wifi; same thing
-- using cellular data; same thing (lasts longer, though...interestingly enough).
-- turning itunes match on/off; same thing
-- deleting & syncing itunes match; same thing.
-- restore device & set up as new; same thing (worked for about 2 songs).
-- changed all songs to AACC format; same thing
(same thing = same symptoms, in case you didn't catch that. ;-) )
I am out of ideas at this point. Anybody want to throw anything at me? I'm seriously willing to try ANYTHING that doesn't require me to wait.
Should note that I use comcast as my internet provider, we have several internet boosters in the house (hence multiple wifi.... my father needs wifi for work so we have a backup plan for the back up plan) and I have recently gotten in contact with comcast for an unrelated netflix issue.

Hi, i had the same problem and tried this,
Somehow iTunes is tied to Safari. Try this:
Someone mentioned to clear all website data and history in safari, stupid but it was either this or the below that fixed it
    or this,
    Disable Wi-Fi Networking Services
Many users have reported that they’ve solved their issues by disabling Wi-Fi Networking under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. This only relates to your location being used for Wi-Fi Networking, so it doesn’t disable Wi-Fi entirely.
Please let me know if it works.

  • Error message for iTunes radio

Two days ago I got this message when I tried to listen to the radio through iTunes. "An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your internet connection, or try again later." My internet connection is fine. It still won't connect. No Norton's either.

After further listening, it can occur randomly, after commercials or songs. Always between songs/commercials though. I called iTunes support. It was tough to pinpoint the cause. After I got off the phone I decided to create a new user account on one of the computers (not a new iTunes account but a new computer user). When logged into this fresh account iTunes radio has been playing for the past two days with no issues, no interruptions. So its looking like a problem on the user account side. I am going to rebuild / reinstall iTunes from scratch on my regular user account and hopefull this will solve the problem. I'll post back here with results. Possibly this weekend.

  • In listening to iTunes radio, it often times plays the wrong genre of music

iTunes radio plays the wron genre. I selected a station for it's "listed" content, but iTunes radio "thinks" I want to listen to different type of music. Ambient, rest, sleep and therapy is NOT ROCK or HipHop or Alternative!
What good does it do to select a particular genre if the music is way off.

I have the same issue and it drives me bonkers.
In my case is the spanish music genre. I selected two pre-created "Merengue" station that itunes had available when I was setting up my iTunes Radio. I pay for iTunes Match, so I don't get commercials. yeah right!.
Not only do I get Spanish commercials, but over 50% of the songs are "Salsa" and not "Merengue". HUGE difference of genre and down right quite insulting. I understand if this was a wider genre like "Latin Hits", but the tittle of the stations as pre-selected by Apple are "Merengue latino 100% Radio" and "Dominicano Soy (translates to Dominican I am) - Top 40 Radio".
If I wanted to listen to "Salsa" music, I would create a station just for that, but I selected two "Merengue" stations because that's what I like. Both stations suck, and to throw salt to the injury, clicking on "Never Play this Song" doesn't have any effect on my selection. I always hear the same songs that are already in my list of never to play those songs again....
With the huge amount of "Merengue" music I purchase through iTunes, you would think the selection on their radio stations would be way better, but I'm baffled at how this is handled.
I would gladly go work for apple and separate the two genres where they belong. It's not hard, just listen to the drum beat, two totally different styles of music.
So I went back to pandora.
    I'm happy.
    The end.

  • What's up with iTunes Radio?

.. only 1 or 2 stations are playing of my 12 preset stations.  the rest are dead.

Yes, iTunes Radio includes commercials.  You can purchase commercial-free iTunes Radio (if it is supported in your country) by subscribing to iTunes Match.

  • ITunes Radio on the Mac vs. on the iPad and iPhone

I'm trying out iTunes Radio to see if I like it better than Pandora, before subscribing to iMatch.  I've created custom stations on my iPad and iPhone, and those stations are shared equally with those iOS devices.  However, when I open iTunes on my Mac Powerbook and use Radio, I do not see those iOS created stations.  Likewise, any stations I create on my Mac do not appear in the iOS devices.  As an aside, using the very nice MiniPlayer, there is a drop down menu on the upper right that has, as a choice to create a new station from a song or artist.  This also does not work.  Are these just program glitches or do I need to wait until I'm subscribed through iMatch for all of this to work?

iTunes Match simply gets you no commercials and unlimited skipping of songs.
Not really a reason to subscribe to iTunes Match if that's all you want.
