Itunes radio cutting out

Hi,
When I select a radio station in iTunes it plays for about five minutes then cuts out. I have to go back into iTunes and hit the play button then it starts up again. Any suggestions?
thanks

Are you on a wireless connection? Is it particularly fast? Could just be network issues. Try limiting your internet usage while listening to the radio and see if that helps. Also try a direct ethernet connection if you're currently wireless.

  • ITunes Radio drops out

My iTunes often cuts out (abrupt interruptions in music stream), especially the radio portion. I just updated from a PowerBook G4 to a Macbook. i use a linysys cable modem and an airport extreme base station and connect to my stereo through airport express. i have seen others talk about the drop out problem. does anyone have a good solution?

Radio streams can drop out for a myriad of reasons, only a few of which are under your control. For example, the server sending out the stream is overloaded.
On your end of things you can try a couple different settings in QuickTime and in iTunes.
First, in QuickTime, make sure the Streaming speed setting matches or is one step SLOWER than the actual connection speed offered by your ISP. Restart iTunes and see how it performs.
In addition, iTunes has one setting that can affect streaming performance. My best recommendation is try each of the settings separately and see which works best for your system. The setting is in Preferences -> Advanced -> General -> Steaming Buffer Size

  • When does itunes radio come out in the uk

when does itunes radio come out in the uk for iphone 4s and ipad 2

Apple has not said, only that iTunes Radio is only available in the US at this time.  There are probably copyright law issues that need to be resolved for usage of music in other countries.

  • My itunes keeps cutting out

  • Older itunes purchases cutting out half way through

I've been noticing for some time (this is not my first attempt to get an answer) that my older itunes purchases cut out about half way through when played on my ipod (but not when played on my PC) I've tried to find an answer on Apple forums before but it seems to be one of those questions that never gets a good answer. I'm beginning to wonder if it is Apple's way of getting us to buy our music all over again, but they wouldn't be that cynical would they. Anyway, since I'm increasingly unwilling to trust Apple to look after my music I'm going back to CDs whenever possible. I don't always want to buy an entire album, so does anyone have a real remedy for this problem?

    Hello Jo Tampoco,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have some purchased music that plays as expected in your iTunes library on your computer but does not on your iPod touch. Any purchases made in the iTunes Store can be downloaded again at no charge as long as the item(s) are still available for purchase so you will not be asked to repurchase these items.
For troubleshooting, depending on how your music is being moved to your iPod, there are some steps I would suggest. If you are syncing the music from your computer to your iPod and the music on the iPod is not playing completely, I would suggest trying to download that music directly from your purchases to your iPod. To do this, please use the instructions in the first article below.
Download past purchases - Apple Support
If you have been downloading the purchases directly to the iPod and the music is not playing completely, I would suggest syncing the music from your iTunes library and testing to see if it will play as expected once it is on the iPod.

  • ITunes audio cuts out on computer speakers and AirPlay device.

When I have iTunes (10) playing and am using both my computer speakers and an AirPlay device (speaker in another room), the sound completely cuts out on both speakers repeatedly. The song will show that it's still playing, so I'll hit pause and play again, then the audio comes back both on the computer and the separate speaker.
This problem is separate from the audio occasionally cutting out on ONLY the AirPlay device, as I assume that's a wireless connection issue. Why the audio would cut out on my computer, I can't understand.

Similar issue here - two sets of speakers connected to 2x Airport Express (N), which in turn are connected wirelessly to an Airport Extreme base station. My iTunes library resides on a Drobo which is connected by Firewire to a MacMini which is connected by ethernet to the Airport Extreme base station.
Sometimes the sound will cut out on the airplay speakers while still playing in iTunes, but hitting pause then play on my iPhone or iPad remote resolves this (but it is irritating).
Occasionally iTunes will lose connectivity to the Airplay speakers, and to resolve I have to go into iTunes and deselect then select the Airplay speakers. I usually get an error message when this happens, something like 'unable to connect to airplay'.
Not really major issues but very irritating nonetheless. For my money the issue is with Airport somewhere... My firmware is up to date so maybe it is something to do with interference on my wireless channel (from other wireless devices, microwaves etc).

  • How to fix iTunes skipping cutting out and repeating?

iPhone to iTunes on Windows. I've had iTunes for over a year and has worked well I downloaded Heavy Metal and all I get is skipping, cutting out and repeating. I will take any and all reasonable suggestions to fix this problem. I enjoy listening to music I buy while web surfing. Thank you in advance.

Do technical people from Apple ever read these forums, or will they wait until I'm too desperate to wait, contact their advisors, and then charge £25 to tell me I need to get a new phone?
Unlikely... as these are user to user technical support forums.
That being said, basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Work through each of these steps in succession.
If the issue still occurs, take the device to Apple for evaluation.

  • ITunes sound cutting out

When I try to play songs in iTunes, the sound will cutout sporadically, then when it starts up again the sound is garbled, and sounds like a cd skipping.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes?

It would be hard to say, but I don't think so. AirFoil still uses AirTunes to stream audio to the AirPort Express. One potential shortcoming of the AX's electronics is that it doesn't employ a local clock circuit. When the incoming data is interrupted (changing songs, long pauses, bandwidth limitations, etc.), there is no longer a digital output to feed the AX's internal DAC, which manifests itself as an audio drop-out.
Some options to try to improve performance are: 1) If not already, use digital audio instead of analog, 2) Use Ethernet as much as possible between the audio source and the AX, and 3) Where Ethernet is not an option, use 802.11n wireless networking and/or eliminate any Wi-Fi interference.

  • IOS 7 - iTunes radio & Safari

Maybe I'm nuts, but when I play iTunes Radio and switch to Safari it pauses. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm not swtiching to a video or any other media file on a website, but iTunes Radio cuts out.

See https://discussions.apple.com/message/23114007#23114007. Resetting my iPhone solved the issue for me.

  • ITunes Radio not working properly after signing up for iTunes Match

I've been a user of iTunes Radio for some time now, and I've enjoyed it with minimal technical issues - until I signed up for iTunes Match. I'm not sure if it's simply coincidence, or if my subscription is causing issues.
The problem is that when I click on a station, whether it be a Featured Station or one of My Stations, it acts like it will play, but the time bar never comes up below the song title. Instead of showing the status bar when a song is playing, indicating the time lapsed/remaining, it shows a solid blue bar all the way across with no time.
I use Radio on my MacBook Pro (2009) and I also AirPlay my music to two Bose SoundTouch 20 speaker systems. I'm on the latest version of iTunes, my Bose systems are updated with the latest software, and I've never had an issue with this before. I can play songs I own or ones that I want to preview in the iTunes Store just fine through all of my speaker systems. What's interesting is that my NPR station in Radio works fine, though that one doesn't allow for AirPlay.
I'm also having identical issues from my iPhone 5s. Though I can only play to one AirPlay device at a time from my iPhone, the symptoms are otherwise the same. Downloaded songs play fine; iTunes Radio freaks out and gives the "Station Temporarily Unavailable" message. Except it's not temporary, unless you consider two months of this irritation temporary...
Here's what I've tried so far:
Logging out of iTunes, restarting and logging back in.
    Resetting my Bose AirPlay speakers.
Turning off the Bose SoundTouch App and Music Server App on my computer.
Disconnecting my Bose AirPlay speakers from power altogether.
Restarting computer and resetting iTunes Cache and Warnings.
None of those attempts at fixing this issue has resolved anything. I'm at a bit of a loss for help here, and I really don't want to start uninstalling and reinstalling programs if it can be avoided. If there's a way to unsubscribe from iTunes Match, I'd want to try that first as that seemed to be when things started becoming non-responsive. If Apple provides a way to fix iTunes or the iTunes Match service without charging me a $29 support fee, I think that would be great, but I haven't seen one.
Anyone encounter this before? Anyone at Apple listening? I'd greatly appreciate any help.

Try it in Cellular as a quick test. Mi had lots of troubles and isolated the issue to Cox communications. May be an ISP issue.

  • ITunes radio: Keep getting " Station name Radio is currently unavailable. Try again later" errors

This is on my Apple TV (Gen 3), all updated. When I play the "Nursery Rhymes" radio station, it'll play one song and then go back to the iTunes Radio screen (out of the station screen). There will be no audio but the 'speaker' icon will be under the Radio station (as if it's playing).
Attempting to play that station again always gives the same error i.e. "Nursery Rhymes Radio is currently unavailable. Try again later".
How can this be fixed? My son gets pretty upset when his station stops working ....

I'm experiencing the same issue. One of my stations fails to play on my Apple TV (Gen 2) with the same message. I tried the following without any success:
         • restarting my Apple TV
         • logging out of and back into my iTunes account
I *am* able to play that same station from iTunes on my MacBook Pro and send it to the Apple TV via AirPlay, but I can't get it to play straight from the Apple TV.

  • USB power periodically cutting out

Recently I've been lossing power to usb for a second or two. iTunes will cut out via Soundsticks and mouse will freeze. There's no rhymn or reason to it yet, just randomly, except that when opening an application it inevitably happens.
I've read the discussions about people lossing usb power speratically, but I haven't seen any solutions. I've reset the PRAM and the problem still persists.
    any ideas?

Hello! Normally a power interruption on a usb port will display a message that it has been disconnected from the system because of an overload condition such as a printer drawing too much power or too many non-powered devices attached such as a usb powered hard drive or a hub that's become faulty or a powered hub that has had it's power supply accidently disconnected or a hub that has failed. One weird thing: the drive never mounts on the desktop, the only way I can see it is to click on the TC in 'shared devices' in finder sidebar.
That's normal. A network drive won't mount by itself. You may want to add the drive to your login items and/or the login items of your boy's account.
He came over to update his iPod tonight. Now the library is inaccessible. It says that his account is not authorized for the folder.
Is that a USB drive? How have you defined access to that drive in AirPort Utility? If you set it to "Secure Shared Disks" "With accounts", you'll have to add his account.

  • I have no problems playing iTunes Radio stations thru my tv speakers but if I try to airplay spotify from any device it plays for a while then cuts out. Any suggestions?

I can play iTunes Radio stations via Apple TV through my tv speakers but if I try to airplay spot iffy the music cuts out after so many minutes. Any suggestions why or what I should do?

... sorry, my actual MacMini doesn't support a twin-monitor feature.. nor does my grafic card support a direct connection to a TV...
you should look in your prefs, Monitor, and should be able to set for the 2nd monitor some 768res/25fps .. .if your grafic card supports that mode.. (my old iBook G3 did it that way, but it is ... "retired" ....)
