ITunes radio has no sound

I have iTunes on the Mac at my work. I've been using the radio thing on it for about 9 years and suddenly it quit.
The screen makes it look as if it's playing but I hear nothing. Tried new earphones but still hear nothing.
Now what?

Hi. I had the same problem, and after an afternoon of digging and changing configurations I figured it out for my own computer - hope it works for you. Go to control panel > programs > default programs > set program access and computer defaults. You can then choose between 3 configurations: windows, non-windows, and custom. Choose custom, and under default media player, disable access to windows media player and windows media center, and choose itunes as your default. Hope it works!!

  • ITunes radio has deleted my station

I keep trying to load 80s rock radio but the station is "unavailable temporarily" and then after I clicked OK the station was deleted
.. Was this station removed or is it a temporary problem?

I have had the same issue. iTunes Radio deleted my favorite station (Chillout - Singer/Songwriter) and now I can't get it back. In fact there are only four stations in the Singer/Songwriter section when there used to be around twenty. This is very disappointing if the radio on iPhones is going to be reduced. I hope they bring it back I subscribed to Match for this service deleting Pandora but I may go back if they continue to remove stations.

  • ITunes Radio has disappeared from my music. How do I get it back?

Last night iTunes Radio showed up under my music icon. Today it is not there and I have no idea what happened. How can I get iTunes Radio back?

There is one part he is leaving out.… you have to hold the lock and home button down until the apple appears. Then let go and let your phone boot up normally. This will solve the problem. I just did it and had the same problem you did until I did the hard reboot and then it worked.

Hi, it seems that since I have moved onto itunes version 8 I can no longer use the playback for movies or music! I select a title and it appears in the itunes playback window but the diamond indicator does not move and nothing can be heard! I'm using Windows Vista and have checked my sound playback on things and all seems ok. Anyone got any idea?

  • Why greyed out options in iTunes radio, and other behavior

    iOS 7.1.2 on a 4S.
In the past couple of days, when accessing the 'star' menu on the lower left hand side, the "play more like this" and "never play this again" are greyed out. Naturally, I can certainly "add to my wish list", because that will eventually cost money. Problem is, I need the other two options far worse than the only one it'll let me have. Especially the "never play this again" option.
Nothing precipitated this, it just started happening.
As well, iTunes radio has now started quitting randomly. Today, it would only get maybe 30-45 seconds into a song, then default to silence and sit there as if I'd only just opened up iTunes.
I've also noticed that using iTR on my laptop or iMac, I don't even get the options, just "add to wish list".
If anyone has a clue as to WTH is going on, I'd really appreciate it.

    Nobody?
I've also noticed that some stations will operate normally, while others have this issue. At present, I only have two stations; one of them works and the other doesn't.

  • Error message for iTunes radio

Two days ago I got this message when I tried to listen to the radio through iTunes. "An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your internet connection, or try again later." My internet connection is fine. It still won't connect. No Norton's either.

After further listening, it can occur randomly, after commercials or songs. Always between songs/commercials though. I called iTunes support. It was tough to pinpoint the cause. After I got off the phone I decided to create a new user account on one of the computers (not a new iTunes account but a new computer user). When logged into this fresh account iTunes radio has been playing for the past two days with no issues, no interruptions. So its looking like a problem on the user account side. I am going to rebuild / reinstall iTunes from scratch on my regular user account and hopefull this will solve the problem. I'll post back here with results. Possibly this weekend.

  • ITunes radio not working

No idea why, but iTunes radio has stopped working.
I reinstalled the latest version, but when I open 'Radio' and click on a category I get "An error occurred while contacting the radio tuning service. Check your Internet connection, or try again later."
The internet connection is fine - I'm using it now - any ideas?
    Thanks.

I've had the same problem for days and think I've found a workaround.  Found the info below in the Help section of iTunes:
      If you use Windows XP:
      Choose Edit > Preferences.
      Click Advanced.
Click the Set button next to “Use iTunes as the default player for audio files.”
If you use Windows 7 or Windows Vista:
      Choose Start > Default Programs.
      Click “Set your default programs.”
In the list on the left, click iTunes.
Click “Set this program as default.”
I have Windows7 and after following the above instructions, my iTunes radio started working immediately as soon as I set it as the default player.  Hope this helps.

  • ITunes Radio temporarily unavailable?

My iTunes Radio has been working great until yesterday!
Stepped away from my wifi and turned on the radio.
iOS asked me if I wanted to use cellular data
    and I said yes!
I didn't work! Got back on wifi and now the radio
    is temporarily unavailable!
I can't get it to work!
I've turned use cellular data off, and on and off again.
Tried hard resetting the phone with power button+home button
I've tried restarting the network settings
    Nothing works!
Does anybody have a fix for this?
    I'm on an iphone 5 running ios7
    Thanks
    Lizzy

I had the same issues with iPad itunes radio. I called and was transfered to a senior advisor at Apple who has cheerful and knowledgable but couldn't fix it.  I searched around my devices and came across something that happened to work. Without explaining too much of my situation, here is what worked for me.
Attach iPad to computer with caple, open itunes.
In the Summary tab, under Options, check the box "Sync with this iPad over Wi-Fi"
    Voila.
I've read many forums with users who offered a fix, but it didn't work for me.  If this doesn't work for you, I apologize. This is my first post in Apple forums. Perhaps there's another setting I already have configured that needs to work in conjunction with this.

  • ITunes Radio iPhone app

My webradio station has been listed for many years on the iTunes Radio software version for PCs and Macs. Despite the existence of Shoutcast, Tunein, and many other internet radio apps, iTunes Radio has never been available as an iPhone app. Today, I got an email requesting cover art for the station, which I sent to them right away. However, the email gave me this link:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-radio/
which depicts iPhones running the iTunes Radio app. So, I went to the App Store on my iPhone and searched for iTunes Radio. It is not there. Does anyone know what Apple is up to with launching an iTunes Radio iPhone app?

The page now says it will have:
    "300 DJ-curated and genre-focused stations"
Is there someone at Apple choosing the DJs?

  • My iTunes radio player sound quality has degraded, what happened?

My iTunes radio player sound quality has degraded, what happened?
The other day I was checking out radio stations in iTunes, after I tuned to one of them odd thigs happened, i just moved on. Now my iTunes radio sounds like i am listeneing through a box or can on all stations.
    Can anyone help?

It sounds like you blew out the paper cone that delivers the sound from the speaker. Depending on how much pressure you used to blow out would determine if the speakers are gone. From the sounds of it and your comment about it happened right after you blew air into the speakers tell me that is what happened. The speakers in an laptop are small and somewhat fragile. The edges of the paper vibrate when it receives the sound and after some passage of time they get weak and if you blew air directily on them, poof they're gone.

  • ITunes through Airport Express sounds like cheap AM radio

I have a wireless network through a router, but I could not get the Airport Express to play iTunes through it so I turned on the Airport in my iMac and successfully connected to it. Now iTUnes through my stereo sounds like a cheap AM radio and the yellow light doe not stop its slow flash like it is not connected. Any ideas?
P.S. Just so you know, I am fairly new to Apple, after over 20 years with PCs, and brand spanking new to the Airport Express/iTunes thing.
Thanks a bunch for any and all ideas,

24" core2duo iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   This is my first Apple computer and I am lovin' it!

A phono input expects a much different signal than a tape input. The signal from the AirPort Express (AX) is much greater amplitude and has a different equalization curve than a phono signal.
