ITunes Radio playback pauses

I use iTunes Radio quite a bit during the day. Quite often (sometimes every 15 minutes) playback on the station will pause. The scrubber bar looks like it's buffering. I've checked my internet connection and there is no problem. The only way around it is to close iTunes and start it up again. But since it can happen literally 15 minutes later, it is quite annoying. Has anyone experienced this?
I am on a PC, running Windows 7, with the latest version of iTunes 11.1.2

It just happened again so I took a screenshot. Maybe that will help in diagnosing the issue. The bar underneath the name of the artist just stays like that until I close iTunes and start it up again. That is the only way to get it working.

I have a similar problem. I updated to iTunes 6.0.2 and now it runs very slowly. Like when I try to select an album or a song, the spinning beach ball shows up and it takes a few seconds to select. This is extremely annoying and makes the program almost unusable, especially if I'm creating a playlist on the fly during a party or something...I know this is not an answer, but would like to know if anyone has a problem with iTunes running excruciatingly slow...

  • Video Playback Pauses when streaming from iTunes to itunes

    Hi,
I have a 2011 iMac running OS X Mavericks Server and I use this as my main iTunes library computer.  I also have a 2013 (latest model) MacBook Air running Mavericks.  My WiFi network comprises of 2x Airport Express's, both the latest models and configured for both 2.4ghz & 5ghz frequencies.
Using Home Sharing, I like to stream video from my iMac's iTunes library to my MacBook Air.  The problem is that playback pauses every few minutes.  The only way to resume playback is to close the video window and open the video again.  This problem occurs regardless of video quality (SD, 720 or 1080) and on both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi settings...  On the odd occasion this problem doesn't happen at all.
I experienced this problem before upgrading to mavericks so I don't think its mavericks related.  And I don't experience this playback issue when streaming to ipad mini, iphone, or apple tv... It only happens when streaming from imac to macbook air...
Please help if you have a solution.

    Try:
ffmpeg -i rtsp://localhost:8554/test.sdp -acodec copy -vcodec copy -re -f flv "rtmp://168.187.121.71/livepkgr/mystream&adbe-live-event=liveevent"
I don't strream ffpmeg from my source, but I stream h264 from my source, and this works when transcoding.
    Hope this helps!

  • ITunes radio starts playing after I check email.  What can I do to stop that from happening.  It is a nuisance to open iTunes and pause the song playing.

On my iPhone 5c, after I check email or other apps not related to phone use, frequently iTunes radio starts playing.  I have learned to open app and pause the song being played.  Is there a way to not have that happen?

    HI,
Most likely this is the server end and may improve on changing ports

  • ITunes radio is stuttering

iTunes radio is stuttering while playing. Not every song but many. Is occurring after updating software also.
    HELP.

I am having the same stuttering radio playback, from the 12.1.2 upgrade, on my iMac running Yosemite and my MacBook Pro running Mavericks with iTunes 12.1.0. Only when selecting iTunes' Featured Radio Stations does the stuttering occur. Plays and stops every couple seconds. If I select Internet Radio, those stations seem to play without the stutter.
I had not played iTunes music for a number of months. Prior use was with earlier versions of iTunes that did not have the Featured Radio stations. Never had a problem with those version, but that was using Internet Radio stations in iTunes. Pandora and Spotlight play their songs without any stutter.
So, I guess, until Apple engineers provide a solution, I will play iTunes Internet Radio stations and Pandora and Spotlight. Evidently, Apple customer service does not care if its customer don't pay for the extra Featured Radio Station options, nor purchase featured songs, since we cannot listen to the songs without them being constantly interrupted by pauses.
If anyone finds a solution, please post.

  • How do I stop iTune Radio from automatically playing when iPad is turned on?

Since updating to the latest IOS 8.1.1 .... I now have iTunes radio turning on automatically and playing random songs every time I open my iPad to begin using it.
I have to go to the music screen and PAUSE whatever song is playing before I can do anything else...unless I want to listen to this song...which I never do!
How do I get rid of iTunes Radio...or at least disable it.  It is nothing that I ever use.  In fact, I don't listen to any music on my iPad as a rule except for Pandora radio once in awhile.
This is extremely annoying and I can't find any help for this problem.
    Thanks.

  • Why is iTunes Radio not working?

when attempting to listen to any of the stations and press the play button it switches to the pause button as if ready to play and then quickly switches back to the play button and nothing plays.

I have fixed my problem.... Do you ever move the date forward in settings (maybe for Candy Crush?) If  you go in to settings and move the date forward a day or two, then go and start iTunes Radio and while its playing go back and set your date correctly or automatic.
    Worked for me.

  • ITunes Radio Restarts My iPhone and Has Buffering Issues

Does anyone else have the problem of having their iPhone restart randomly when trying to play a station on iTunes Radio? Also, does iTunes Radio have buffering issues while streaming, cutting in and out when trying to play a song? Lastly, when I try to play a song from my locally-stored library, it occasionally takes a few seconds to start playing a song; is this normal or is it another bug that needs to be squashed by Apple in the upcoming iOS 7.1 update?

I have noticed an issue with the restart when using stations I created.  It typically happens after pausing one of the created stations, leaving the phone idle, and coming back to the phone and turning the station back on.  That will usually cause a quick restart.

  • Since updating iTunes, having playback sound issues

Updated iTunes so that I could install iOS 5.  Now when using iTunes for playback from my library on my iMac the sound is TERRIBLE.  Really low volume, muddy sound.  Volume on everything else is fine, so it isn't a speaker issue.  Volume was fine a few days ago, so I'm assuming that it is an iTunes 10.5 (141) issue.

I'm now having the same sound problem with my AAC audiobook files. Couldn't yet sa if it's all the files or just some of the newly imported ones.
They now playback with noticable aliasing as if their bitrate has been significantly lowered.
Horrible to listen to music that now sounds like an AM radio broadcast.
Gonna wait and hope to see if a fix will come this week.
Also noticed that some of the same type files don't correctly copy into my iTunes library for some reason.

  • Can't find Jewish music station on iTunes Radio

Does anyone know of a Jewish radio station on iTunes radio? I can't seem to find one. It's Rosh Hashana, I want to listen to something appropriate. Thanks!

Shoutcast and Live365 both offer "radio" streams suitable for playback in iTunes. Many of the entries showin "iTunes Radio" are actually Live365.com sites.
    So, try these...
    Shoutcast search results for "Jewish"
    and
    Live365 search results for "Jewish"

  • Audio drops, or playback pauses

Audio drops or the playback pauses after about 5-10 minutes for iTunes purchased/rented content only. Rewinding the show/movie a few seconds back and restarting it will give another 5-10 minutes of playback before problem recurs.
Streaming from Hulu or Netflix is not an issue.
The problem is regardless of time of day, or whether WiFi or ethernet wired connection. Am current on software updates, and this is an AppleTV gen 2. I have rebooted the AppleTV, but have not reset to factory settings.
The problem did start a week or so after applying the last software update.
    Any thoughts on a solution?
    Anyone else having this problem?
    -thanks

Thanks Tom - I have a fairly new iMac 27 and beefed up the graphics with all the extra memory I could get and it seems to handle importing from tape and doing other tasks well - am only using a browser and skype for meetings.
I'm surprised you can't turn off the audio (or the video) during playback - this post seems to say it was possible in Final Cut Studio https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1963460?start=0&tstart=0
I get that it has to be playing back to capture but surely it doesn't have to show it to me or make me suffer listening to it an hour at a time. With 50 plus hours of tape to capture I might have to only do this of an evening as I need to work with audio available during the day.
Thanks for replying and letting me know it's not possible - it's really appreciated.

  • ITunes Radio song skipping like bad CD!

I recently started using the new iTunes radio service and the first couple days song played fine but starting last friday (Oct 4th 2013) Some songs started skipping like when you tried playing a scratched CD.
Very intermitted, random skipping and pausing.
The crazy thing is the next song (either by selecting or waiting until the bad song finishes) WORKS fine!... Then a song or two later skips again.
I am using a MacBook proRetina with the lastest OS versiona and most updated ver of iTunes.

My guess is that it's just the internet connection dropping the stream every now and then.  But hard to say for sure without actually hearing it and also knowing how you're connected to the internet.

  • ITunes Radio Radio Streaming Problems

    Hello all,
I've had common problems where iTunes radio on my Macbook Pro Retina (Late 2013 model, 8 GB RAM 256 SSD) has been slow at buffering. What I mean by that is when playing songs it will commonly by "choppy" and pause and and start playing several times throughout the song. When I check my network speed at speedtest.net I'm getting 12-15 mbps download speed. I have not had any problems streaming radio from Pandora which I prefer not to use because I like iTunes top radio hits stations.
I'm more or less curious if others have had similar issues and if so if you've been able to resolve the problem.
Any input is appreciated and thank you for reading my post!

I have been having a similar problem from my iMac.  Some songs are just fine.  Others come up and play 10 sec and then just stops.  The only thing that I can do is skip to the next song which plays fine......
Have you found anything to fix it?

  • IOS 7 - iTunes radio & Safari

Maybe I'm nuts, but when I play iTunes Radio and switch to Safari it pauses. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm not swtiching to a video or any other media file on a website, but iTunes Radio cuts out.

See https://discussions.apple.com/message/23114007#23114007. Resetting my iPhone solved the issue for me.
