Itunes radio skips like crazy.

My iTunes radio will play a song then begin to skip like crazy. Quitting music and relaunching it allows one song to play then the issue occurs again. I can see songs as they go by but it is like somoene is holding down the forward skip button. This is only occurring on my 5s and was not an issue on my 4s prior to upgrading. This occurs still after the 7.0.1 patch.

+1 same issue here.
Not sure exactly when it started, but seems like it was sometime on or after 3/7.
It appears to affect every device I have on the home network (iMac, MacBook Pro, Macbook Air, iPhone, iPad).  Most devices are wifi, but I can confirm the issue also occurs on my iMac which is connected via ethernet.  I'm able to get both iTunes match streaming and iTunes Radio streaming to the iPhone and iPad if I disable wifi and use LTE.
On my iOS devices, it just looks like it's skipping songs repeatedly...every now and then it might play one song, but it skips 30-50 before that happens.  A few times it just kept skipping until the device rebooted itself.  On my OS X devices, I don't get any of the skipping, it just looks like it's trying to load the radio station (i get the blue progress bar at 100% but nothing ever happens).
For what it's worth, I'm using an Apple Time Capsule for as my DHCP for ethernet and wifi.  My internet provider is Cox Communications.

  • I have iTunes and am downloading Music videos from YouTube for use on my iPad! They play great on my iPad, But when I play them on my PC in iTunes they skip like a rapid fire machine gun??? Can anybody help me

I have iTunes and I am downloading Music Videos from YouYube to be used on my iPad! After I download them using YTD Video downloader they play great on my iPad... However when I try to play them on my PC in iTunes they skip like a rapid fire Machine Gun! Can anybody help???

You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device.  If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.

Something must have worked - just got an E-mail from MacAce saying they've seen the problem and are arranging a refund.

  • ITunes match and iTunes radio skips songs on wifi

iTunes match and iTunes radio have been skipping songs while on wifi. We have a Linksys EA6350 setup in WPA2 personal for both the 2.5 ghz and 5 ghz networks. Both are setup as mixed 802.11n/ac with both on a channel width of AUTO. We are using two Apple TV's, iPhone 5s and a iPad 2. One of the apple TV's is setup as a different iTunes account than the others. It skips songs on all devices and accounts, however when I turn the wifi off on my iPhone both iTunes match and iTunes radio work flawlessly. What should I do?

  • Why is the iTunes radio skipping songs repeatedly and it won't stop?

OK when I was listening to Itunes Radio I was in the top 50 pop chart and I skipped through a couple songs and it went crazy. It began to repeatedly skip song after song with out using your 6 skips. Also I left that chart and went to the alternative chart  and it did the same thing without doing anything. The only way I got it to stop for a couple minutes was bye turning off wifi and turn it back on using the IPhone 6 Plus.

    Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that does not work, sign out of your account, restart your iPad and then sign in again. Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap your ID and sign out.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store and sign in again.

  • ITunes is skipping like a scratched cd

It was playing fine for several hours today and then all of a sudden it started skipping, and it's been going in and out since.
It usually happens when I've got an internet browser window (chrome) open and running.
I updated iTunes to 11.0.1 to see if that would fix the issue but it didn't.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

    I'm having the same problem.
All of my songs are skipping - songs stop playing every few seconds for a few seconds and then continue.
When the songs skip, my entire internet "skips" as well
When the songs skip, my entire computer "skips" as well including my wireless mouse and even the volume controls.
    Computer: 2011 iMac
    Operating System: Mac OS X v. 10.6.8
    iTunes: v.11.0.1
    Installed the update today
I only have about 10 songs that I have purchased online. Everything else was uploaded from a CD.
I have tried the following things and the problem persists
    Uninstalled/Re-installed iTunes
Disconnected from the internet while using iTunes
Checked that the library is playing from a folder on the computer (rather than from cloud)
Searched for settings to fix this

At top left you have an apple - itunes- file edit view ect...
go under view and show side bar
go under iTunes and check for updates (11.1.3 current) - update if needed
plug in iphone (or ipad, ipod ect..)
when the device shows up in the sidebar click on the name of device not the arrow
this opens up a summary page
across top says info, apps, music, photos, ect...

  • My iMovie is skipping like crazy when I try to edit and then goes to a black screen and you can only hear the audio!?!? What's happening??

I use iMovie almost everyday for Youtube videos. I have nothing in my imovie except the 5 clips that I'm editing now. I have all my media on an external hard drive and delete everything after I'm done with ( I empty all trash cans). My iMovie is now skipping when I try to edit and then the clips just go to a black screen and I can only hear the audio, this has been going on for a week and I don't know what to do?!? Any help?

Try Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If that doesn't help, try Resetting the System Management Controller

  • Videos skipping like crazy from external HDD

    Hi,
I can't seem to watch any of my music videos now that my iTunes reads off of my external HDD.
The videos get stuck, and then choppy.
    What do I do?
    Thanks.

If you depress the option key and launch iPhoto you can select the library - if it is not in the default location in the pictures folder that is the only way to select it - if you have an alias in the pictures folder remove it (this was the way to move the library in older versions of iPhoto)
There is a preference file - quit iPhoto and delete it ("your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist) and it will be recreated with default values - reset any personal preferences you have changed and option launch iPhoto to point to the iPhoto library on the external hard drive -- Note that iPhoto does not work will with its library on a wireless connection - wireless tends to have short dropouts and if this occurs while writing to your iPhoto library it can corrupt it

  • ITunes radio scrolling songs like crazy!

When I select a station on my iPhone on the iTunes radio, it goes crazy. It starts scrolling through different songs super fast without playing them and will not stop scrolling. This does not happen all the time, but it happens a lot! I do not use Match and I have an iPhone 6 with latest upgrade. What is going on? Does anyone know?

My guess is that it's just the internet connection dropping the stream every now and then.  But hard to say for sure without actually hearing it and also knowing how you're connected to the internet.

  • ITunes Radio Automatically Skips through Songs

When listening to iTunes Radio through my AppleTV 3, iPhone 6, iPad 3, and iMac 2013 iTunes Radio will just start skipping through songs. The current song plays through to the end, but then starts scanning through 20-30+ songs before playing the same song that just played. This happens on every station I have created, and also on the suggested featured stations.
This just started yesterday after updating to iOS 8.2. I logged out of iTunes on all devices and signed back in, but the problem persisted. I also rebooted all devices with still no luck. My Husband is also having the same issue on his iPhone 5 and iPad 3 under a different iTunes account.
I happened to be out of Wifi range on my iPhone and tried iTunes Radio and surprisingly the skipping stopped. The minute I got back into Wifi range the skipping would start up again after the current song ends. So it seems like it has something to do with my Wifi which are run off of an AirPort Time Capsule and Extreme (all up to date). I rebooted my modem and AirPort’s thinking there was some weird config issue, but the skipping was still happening. I have not changed anything with my internet provider and have more than enough bandwidth.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix or further troubleshoot?

Hmmm, Cox must be blocking something. I'll try to call them when I get home, but I don't have high hopes dealing with them.
I also found another thread talking about the same issue.
"I already contacted apple about this and the persons that helped me told me they took the matter up to the engineering department.  So now I'm just waiting on a reply back.  Hopefully, they can get this fixed up."

  • All songs skipping like a scratched record in Itunes!  Help!

I don't know if this problem has anything to do with Itunes 11 or Icloud but around the same time that I downloaded these I began to have all my Itunes songs, the great majority of which have not been bought from the Itunes store, skipping like a scratched record.    I also synched my PC with an ipad around the same time.  Thanks in advance!

  • ITunes 7 skips when i scroll through songs

when i scroll through songs on my Windows XP iTunes, it starts skipping like crazy. Mac is supposed to be a good company, it really shouldn't take them this long to respond to these egregious errors and bugs. not saying windows is better, but i expect more out of apple. iTunes is the most popular music program, but that doesn't give Apple the right to be lazy.

my iTunes is doing the same thing. it gets all scratchy when my songs are playing! is there like an update or something to fix this ???

  • "You're Listening to iTunes Radio" error

After changing the password for my Apple ID on my iMac, I am unable to sign in to iTunes Radio from any of my devices (iPhone 5S, iPad 4th gen, or Apple TV 3rd gen).  While surprised the devices didn't just learn my new password, I assumed it's perhaps a security matter so have been attempting to sign in with my new or old password.  Most everything else appears to work.  But when I attempt to listen to iTunes Radio, all I get is a male voice repeating over and over continuously "You're listening to iTunes Radio."  On-screen the display just cycles through album covers.  I was able to listen to my own music streamed from iMatch on my iPhone, but not my iPad, and neither plays iTunes Radio--just that "You're listening to iTunes Radio" repeated over and over.  I have tried power cycling the iPhone, turning iTunes Match off then on, entering my iCloud ID in lieu of my normal non-Apple domain Apple ID, all to no avail.
I had no idea updating my Apple ID's password would be so problematic.  Can anyone help me or has iTunes Radio simply gone crazy?

Same issue since changing Apple ID password. Apple TV won't allow me to play my music of video purchases (says iTunes is currently unavailable). I'm able to play them on my mac and iPad, however. Radio on the other hand is completely crazy on all my devices - when choosing a station it immediately skips through several songs at a rapid pace then gets stuck on the "you're listening to iTunes radio" glitch as described above.
I've done a reset and factory restore of my Apple TV, signed in and out of my Apple ID, reset my router, NOTHING has worked. Apple support was no help.
I'm sorry I have nothing to contribute right now - I'll keep searching and share here if I find a solution.
Why is chaning my password causing such chaos?!

  • My iTunes radio player sound quality has degraded, what happened?

My iTunes radio player sound quality has degraded, what happened?
The other day I was checking out radio stations in iTunes, after I tuned to one of them odd thigs happened, i just moved on. Now my iTunes radio sounds like i am listeneing through a box or can on all stations.
    Can anyone help?

It sounds like you blew out the paper cone that delivers the sound from the speaker. Depending on how much pressure you used to blow out would determine if the speakers are gone. From the sounds of it and your comment about it happened right after you blew air into the speakers tell me that is what happened. The speakers in an laptop are small and somewhat fragile. The edges of the paper vibrate when it receives the sound and after some passage of time they get weak and if you blew air directily on them, poof they're gone.
