Itunes randomly removing my artwork

This is so **** annoying. My itunes continually wants to randomly remove artwork from my albums...artwork that I have manually located and added myself as well as established itunes store-friendly artwork that the software has located and added for me. It is so random and so frustrating. It happens after a sync, after a software update, after adding new albums to my library. Again, at random. I am an extremely meticulous person and this software program continually fails to meet my organizational standards for data, info. It literally drives me nuts. This is the most frustrating issue of all the issues I seem to have with itunes...cuz it happens so often and is so random. Anyone experience similar problem? Anyone have a solution?
I have have zero solutions after doing a simple Google search for the issue.
In the meantime, I will go back to fixing, re-locating, re-adding, re-doing the artwork on my itunes.

Looking more at this bug, it seems to only happen on tracks that I select in iTunes, as I select them. I can literally cause this problem consistently by just going through my library and selecting tracks. Songs with album after before selecting them have the artwork removed immediately after selecting them.

  • ITunes album artwork randomly removed from iPhone after sync.

iTunes 12.1.0.50. IOS 8.1.3. iPhone 5.  23GB free space on iPhone.
Album art is randomly removed from iPhone after sync.  This seems to be new to the recent version of iTunes.
Removed and reinstalled all music. No help, problem still occurs.
Restored iPhone as a new iPhone and reinstalled all music.  At first, all artwork was installed, but on later sync, random artwork was removed or missing.  Problem reoccurs.
This appears to be a bug in the software somewhere.
    Anyone having similar problems?

    welcome to my world....
i have had this at least three times now in the past month.
I too had to do a factory reset and set up a a new phone.
i read an article about it being a known issue and something to do with duplicate tracks causing it to hang during sync.  it then fills up the available space with the dreaded "other" data and hey ho you have no music.
have a look at this, hope it helps and hope Apple get it fixed as it is affecting a lot of people

  • New itunes removes my artwork!!!!!

I had manually gone through 8000+ songs and inserted album artwork. It worked great under iTunes 7. Once I upgraded to 7.01 it goes to play a song and it removes the artwork from every song in the album!!!! This is crap!! It took forever to update all the id3 tags. What gives? Are we forced to give you guys a credit card number and start an iTunes store account to keep my artwork?

Similar situation. All the artwork I loaded from the previous version of iTunes, still displays on my iPod. However, anything I add since I updated to 7.0.1 does NOT. It will show up in iTunes... but not my iPod (and yes... I've already selected "display artwork" in the iPod settings).

  • Itunes automatically rechanges tags and removes album artwork

my iTunes automatically rechanges tags and removes album artwork, and i mean in the bad way, rmoving my artwork, and rechanging Progressive Rock tag to Progressieve rock
I hate it when he does that, fix this bug please

iTunes does not do any automatic tag changes. However, it will reflect the changes if another program changes tag data. The usual culprit is Windows Media Player.
Go into WMP and uncheck any library options that could cause it to retrieve media data from the internet, etc, etc.

  • How can I edit/change/update/remove album artwork for a song in iCloud?

    Dear Community,
    my problem is the following.
I'm editing my songs/albums artworks and when I change these artworks, iTunes Match syncs my artworks back to the original ones.
I've tried a lot of things, read a lot of discussions but I didn't find a solution for this problem.
    For example:
I've deleted for an album all of my songs artworks, then set the good one. Then I've done an update for iTunes Match in Store menu. My artworks didn't changed on an Apple TV2
If I just delete the artworks, do an iTunes Match upgrade, the artworks on an iPhone 4S & Apple TV2 remains the same (I've also removed the songs from my iPhone and redownloaded them...)
I used TuneUp iTunes plugin for song identifying. It did a very good job, changed my artworks, my metadata, everything looked good. After a few minutes iTunes Match synced, the artworks restored to the old ones, but the metadata info didn't changed, it is updated in iCloud too.
I'm also tried to get artworks from iTunes, it worked very well for some albums, but again: iTunes Match synced...
I've turned off iTunes Match, done the album editing. Again when I've turned on iTunes Match, the album artworks restored..
In my opinion if I use a cloud service, anything I do locally in my iTunes library, it should sync up to the cloud. EVERYTHING means music, music metadata, music artwork etc.
    So what is the solution?
What can be the reason all of this?
    Someone has the same issue?
    Is it a bug?
    One more thing
In this album all of my songs has the same artwork (David Guetta: One Love)
Look at the BRAVO hits cover

Try this, it has worked for me.
    1. Make a new, empty iTune library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key.
    2. Choose create new library; do NOT have iTunes scan for music.
    3. Enable iTunes Match on the empty library.
    4. Find the tracks with the wrong artwork, highlight them, Get Info and paste the correct artwork into the "artwork" field.
    5. When finished update iTunes Match, then re-launch iTunes while holding down the Option key and chose select library to get back to the "master" library.

  • How do I stop iTunes changing my album artwork?

I do not want iTunes changing my album artwork. I spend a lot of time getting this right. iTunes 12.01 has started messing with this, substituting new artwork and removing what I put there. How do I stop this happening?

    Hi Alan,
I have always kept this option unchecked. I've looked again just now and the option has remained unchecked. For some reason iTunes 'selected' 4 (that I've noticed) out of my 1775 albums and did its automatic update anyway. I guess this is a bug in the latest version, perhaps during the updating process.
I've changed the album art back to what I want and will keep an eye on them. I'll feed back to this thread if iTunes changes the art again.
Thanks for getting back to me,
    Phil

  • Why can't old podcasts in iTunes be removed?

I just updated to iTunes 11.1.  Suddently all of the podcasts I am subscribing to are showing all of the old episodes with a little cloud icon next to them.  In the past the icon used to be a downward arrow.  This meant that the podcast was available to download but was not in my iTunes library yet.  Now I guess this icon means it's in iCloud, whatever that means.  I also cannot remove these episodes from showing.  So now there are dozens and dozens of old episodes of podcasts that I have already listened to showing up in my podcast list.  Right clicking does not show a remove option.  How can I get all of these items to be removed?

In my usage thus far the initial upgrade period seems to be the worst... deleting podcasts randomly, removing currently being listened to podcasts and generally being an overall pain since the podcast list has been corrupted from the way it used to be used.
While I've never been fond of the "my podcasts" view this seems to be the most effective view to now see all your podcasts, especially after all your devices have figured out they're finally in sync.
Apple perhaps should have focus grouped this particular layout and style a bit more but patience seems to be making it behave better and perhaps even behave as was intended.
To summarize, my main suggestion would be to make sure all your devices sync up, and if you haven't upgaded one device yet... don't until you've caught up to your podcasts that you don't want to miss. Otherwise, once you're fully in sync you should be able to re-download them from the cloud.
Off topic: I would also advise that when something doesn't work emotions run high, especially after change, if you don't have anything to add that will improve the experience of those following the thread, please remain lurking until you do.

  • ITunes 11 - Default Genre Artwork

How do I set default genre artwork in iTunes 11? iTunes has remembered what was my iTunes 10 default grid artwork for genres, which I set by scrolling through the tile and then right clicking and setting the artwork I wanted. How do I edit this, or remove the default artwork I have set in iTunes 11?

I saw this inquiry and had a similar question about how to create a default genre artwork for a newly created genre category in iTunes 11. Following erixium and Steve Taylor1's starting instructions I discovered a method to perform this task that I thought I would share.
Create a new genre in iTunes.
Control-click the item you want in a new genre.
Select Get Info from the drop down menu
    Select the Info tab
In the Genre box at the bottom type in a new name, let's call it example for this sake.
Click the Okay button at the bottom right, should be blue.
    Close iTunes
Create a new Genre artwork from a .jpg file and name it genre-example.jpg
In Finder go to the Applications window, select iTunes, app and control-click
Select Show Package Contents from the drop down menu
Copy the new Genre artwork into the Resources folder
Look for a file named genres.plist in the Resources folder.
Copy that folder to another location and save a copy of it in case you make a mistake and need to go back to the original.
Control-click the file and select open with then other from the menu
Select textedit.app as the application to open it with and click the open button on the bottom right
Go to the bottom of the file and select the last 4 lines prior to the line with </array>, they should look like this
Copy those 4 lines below the selected 4 to create a new item
Change the 2nd line (in this case musical score) to the name of the new genre you create in iTunes
Change the 3rd line (in this case genre-soundtrack.jpg) to the name of the .jpg file with your new artwork that you already inserted into the Resources folder of the iTunes package
    Save the file
Copy the file to the Resources folder of the iTunes package overwriting the original genres.plist file
    Close the iTunes.app Finder window
    Open iTunes
Your previously newly created genre should now be using the genre artwork that you selected.
If anyone finds an easier way to do this, please post.
    Thank you.

  • Removing songs from itunes without removing them from ipod

Is it possible to remove songs from iTunes without removing them from iPod? When I attempt to delete songs from iTunes I get a warning that they'll be deleted from iPod as well. I've got Manually manage music and videos checked under Options in the Summary window.

You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See these about backing up media.
How to back up your media in iTunes.
    Buegie's complete back up strategy.
To move music from iPod to computer, check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

When I try to play a downloaded TV show, itunes stops working and I get a error message "APPCRASH". I have updated itunes and removed and reinstalled quicktime.

Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
    ... and click OK.
Quit the QuickTime Player if you have it open. Restart the PC and try watching the videos in iTunes again. Do they play now?
