ITunes randomly won't open. HELP PLEASE!!!

I downloaded iTunes when I first bought my laptop and I've been an active user for months, opening it almost everyday. However, a few days ago I go to open it and the mouse would change to say it was loading. Then it would dissapear as fast as it came up. I've tried unistalling and re instaling it. I tried deleting all folders and downloading different bit versions. I have Windows 8, but this hasn't been a probem for the months I've been using it. Although I've been ignoring the request for updating it, that should be no problem when I download the latest version. I've also tried running it as admin and messed with all the different settings. It seems as if it downloads fine, but the second I click on it, it doesn't come up. While troobleshooting and other things a certain setting would be changed so that when I test the program or go to open it again it will ask if it can make changed to my computer. I'll hit yes, but it won't open and that it the only thing that comes up after constantly clicking it. I have several divices linked to my iTunes and I have no idea what to do and no way of syncrnizing my devices. Please help!!!
Oh! And also, it says there is something wrong with the compatibility when troobleshooting, but I've messed with almost all of the settings

It sounds like you're already on the right track with your troubleshooting steps, but there are a few more you haven't done listed here:

another couple of preliminary questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits.
(1) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on the PC?
(2) reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

ITunes won't open HELP PLEASE

When I try and open iTunes, a message pops up saying, "The file 'iTunes Library' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." I never downloaded a newer version, and version 10 just came up today for no reason. It worked like 5 hours ago, but isn't working now. Anyone have any idea?

ITunes random track loss issue - help please!

i recently discovered that random songs from random albums have been lost from my iTunes library. I don't know the cause of this, but it could be related to an iTunes software update?
Another potential cause is the recent consolidation of my and my partner's iTunes libraries on this machine (rather than having some music in both accounts hogging drive space). Could the resolve duplicates option have caused this?
even albums that were bought from iTS are now missing songs. Luckily i have most of the library backed up on a previous system (powerbook) but reinstating this will involve an exhaustive search to consolidate the 2 libraries.
any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

My shuffle settings are the same as yours. Perhaps iTunes preference file is corrupt.
Move .com.apple.itunes.plist and com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist from your User Library>Preference folder to your desktop and restart iTunes. New preference files may correct the problem. If it does, you'll need to reestablish your personal preferences for iTunes. If there is no change, move these files back to their original location, writing over the new files. Again, you'll need to restart iTunes.
Please post back with results.

Itunes won't open - help!

I have been using itunes for 3 months without any problem and for the past week it will not work. The problem I am getting is when I double click the itunes shortcut, sometimes an egg timer is displayed for 10 secs, then nothing. On other times, I manage to get the itunes licensing agreement on screen. I have tried everything to get it working - I've clicked on save, then agree. I've clicked on save, then disagree but itunes still won't open. I have read through the support section on the itunes website and carried out the following:
1. uninstalled & reinstalled itunes
2. uninstalled & reinstalled quicktime
3. run windows clean up to uninstall itunes & quicktime
4. rebooted PC so many times and wasted so many hours!
I am now at a complete loss at what to do next. I still have the same problem - itunes icon is on desktop but nothing happens when I double click. Can someone please please help?

When I open up Task Manager, itunes application is running and I can't kill the process without rebooting my PC.
usually i associate that "running itunes.exe process That Will Not Die" symptom with nasty version of the NIS 2005 itunes launch suppressions ... but you've got McAfee ...
let's quickly check up on a possibility that can also result in you seeing a running itunes.exe (even though itunes silently fails to launch):

You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br />

ITunes just won't open?

i don't know what is wrong with my iTunes. i double click on the shortcut and iTunes just won't open. then i try and click on it from the start menu, and nothing again. i have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes about 3 times and still nothing changes. no error window or anything pops up even.
can someone help me please? thank you, i would really appreciate it.

I was having the same problem - this fixed it for me:
Remove iTunes Preference files
Some of the files that iTunes uses to store settings and preferences may be corrupt and cause issues. iTunes has two folders where preferences are saved. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:
* C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
* C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes

ITunes store won't open after Update - NO Error message!

Hello everyone!
This morning I updated my iTunes to 11.1 upon being prompted (when I tried to connect my new iPad Mini). I run Mac OS X 10.6.8. The macbook also updated other softwares (auto update). I restarted my laptop, and now the iTunes just won't open. The first time I click it in the dock, the icon would just bounce thrice before settling down, and then nothing happens. Upon clicking again, it would bounce just once, but nothing opens. There is no error message either.
I have tried restarting, and also tried software update for the OS. I have checked the parental controls and administrative powers for the user.
Kindly help!

Jason,I used the troubleshooting link you gave and so far have 1.Fixed Digital Signing for Windows drivers.(didn't help) 2.Removing Itunes configuration files.
In this one I was told to delete the SC info.sidb file (I didn't have one of these when I got to the folder where it was supposed to be)The thing I haven't done is the mscofig.instruction. I was saving it for last as it sounded like it could really make a lot of changes to my computer.The Itunes installation icon is still on my desktop so I clicked on it and there was a link that said it would repair missing or damaged files in the Itunes software. It didn't help either. I can click on Itunes all day long and it won't open.I can't access the library either. I am going to do the last step you suggested and uninstall my security software and see if that helps. I appreciate all the help Jason.

Forgot my passcode on my iPad mini (don't ask, it's been a long month) so I go to connect to iTunes since that's the only way to get anything done, and what do ya know, just like EVERYONE else is saying, it won't open! I tried restarting my laptop, deleting then re-installing itunes, repairing permissions, restarting again, turning off wifi, deleting that file everyone says to delete...still won't open. Please tell me there's a way to get my iTunes running...or am I now stuck with two useless Apple products?!

Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.
