Itunes re-syncs my whole library everytime

Nearly everytime I dock my ipod, itunes re-syncs everything. All 4500 songs. Why? It never did it before. I've restored my ipod and updated it. Still does it. I don't know what to do.

I am now having the same problem ... can anyone help!!! Using iTunes 6 with 4G 40GB Photo Ipod and Windows XP Pro. Did not have this problem in previous iTunes versions.

My daughter and husband and I all share music, but I don't want ALL his music on my phone, just some of the songs, and my daughter likes some of mine and some of his... you get the idea.... how do I just ADD songs without syncing the whole catealoge of music?

Auto-syncing ipod with itunes: how not to have it synced with whole library

I remember a year ago when I had itunes automatically sync with my ipod, it created a playlist, something along the name of "NAME's iPOD SONGS" or something like that. And then every time i connected my ipod, it would only look into that playlist to see what's been added or removed, and so it would sync only with that folder.
But now, it wants to sync with my whole library, which doesn't fit on my ipod. How do I make it sync with only a playlist instead?

Connect your iPod to iTunes
When it appears click on the iPod icon in the left hand pane
Select the Music tab
Near the top of the tab select *Sync Music* & *Selected playlists:*
Check the playlists you want to include, uncheck those you don't
Click Apply

Itunes only sync part of library

For some reason my Ipod is only syncing to part of my Itunes library. I have over 750 songs in my library put when I sync only 64 songs are showing up. I have unistalled and reinstalled Itunes and have restored my Ipod to factory settings and still only 64 songs sync in my Ipod. What makes it even more weird, is that it is always to same songs that gets downloaded If anyone could assist me, please do?

Actually the original library was started on another computer. When I got a lab top, I decided to delete the original library on the old one and make my lab top my main library and that is when I started having my problems. The first time I sync the new library I was able to download more songs, but still not the full library.

So I have a 5th generation nano, and I want to put a tv show on it from my friends computer. (I'm able to put songs on my ipod) But everytime I drag it to my library it says: it was not copied because you are not autorized on this computer.
so when i try to do it manually it says I can do it but i have to erase everything I have and sync whats on her computer to my ipod. How can I just get this **** tv show onto my ipod??? is there a way?

Is this a TV show you purchased with your own iTunes account or your friend iTunes store account? If it was your own account, simply authorize your purchased content on your friend's computer. To do this, head to the Store drop down menu in iTunes and choose Authorize This Computer. Then enter in your iTunes store credentials and then try resyncing the TV Show to your iPod.

IPod and iTunes not syncing after restoring library on new computer

Recently, my computer crashed. Lost everything. I was finally able to restore my music on my laptop to iTunes. However, now when I upload new music from the store, it saves it on my library, but will not sync to my iPod, even when I manually try to sync it.

I've always kept all my music on its own dedicated internal hard drive. Now I've got a new PC, finally made the switch to Windows 7 from XP, and I've moved my internal hard drive over to the new machine.
I installed iTunes, but I'm having a heck of a time getting it to import the music and library files, keeping all my playlists and metadata. Why is this so hard?

If your New to You Used Mac is froom mid 2012 and originally came with Lion installed on it you will need to Reinstall that version using the Online Internet Recovery system and then at first boot of the new install use the Setup Assistant system to copy over all the data from your wifes old hard drive.
To access the Online system at startup hold down the Command + Option/alt + r keys and keep them held down until you see a globe on the screen. From the resulting screen that cames up, Mac OS X Utilities, select Disk Utility and then the top most entry for the hard drive, left hand panel, drive model number and size, and then the Partition tab. Repartition the drive as One Partition, You Must do that to get ride of the Mavericks Recovery HD partition which is hidden. Name the partition Macintosh HD with a format of Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Once that is done exit disk utility and select Reinstall Mac OS X.

Itunes not transferring the whole library

well most of the time the ipod/itunes synch works well, but it never fully transferrs all the track in the library to the ipod, ie there may be 3000 tracks in the library, but only 2789 on the ipod?? and clues??

Find some of the tracks that are not getting sent over. Right click them and select "Get Info". On the first tab, what does it say next to "Format:"?

ITunes Match on iPad - Whole library is long empty playlists with 0:00 for every track

I think this started when I updated to iOS 6. My Music library on my iPad (3rd Gen, iOS 6) is all properly labeled at the artist and album label, but there's not album art and the album playlists are much longer than they should be and every track is marked 0:00 for duration. I tried the usual stuff (turning off iTunes Match and turning it back on, resetting iPad). Nothing I do on the iPad seems to work.
iTunes Match is working fine on my iPhone.

I believe I have found a possible cure for this issue. I had the same problem as you i enabled iTunes match and could watch my battery life drain before my eyes. I took it off charge at 0700 and by 1900 with very little use it was dead.
I tried the above entry of resetting the settings which didnt really work, however with a bit of experimenting i have discovered a cure which worked for me.
1. Reset settings as above post
2. Back up to iTunes (so that the new settings are in your backup file)
3. Restore the phone to factory settings
4. Restore from the backup you just made
5. Turn off iTunes match so that iTunes puts across any music you had on the phone previously
6. Turn iTunes match back on.
This appears to have worked for me, i took my phone off charge at 1930 and at 0130 i still have 87% left and this is with some light surfing and some itunes match downloads.
I know its a long winded process but hopefully this will work for you like it has me.

I have the exact same issue and have worked through all the troubleshooting steps TWICE. I have a nano (5th gen) and a classic, neither will work and both are about to go into the garbage. I use my ipods for work, thankfully I have a Blackberry Playbook which now is my music player. Looking for answers here...

Syncing only one library???

hi guys,
I just bought a new Ipod video on the sole purpose of travelling with it. But using the new Itunes 7 I can not add to the files that I already have on the Ipod (as it was possible with older versions), but only copy 1 single library on it. Travelling I use internetcafes and my music collection is, nevertheless, still growing.
Is there way to change the itunes settings so I can add to the files instead of syncing the whole library everytime?

The option to manually update your iPod (which it sounds like you're interested in) still exists.
You just access the option in a slightly different way with iTunes 7.

Everytime I sync, my entire library erases... HELP!

Everytime I purchase something new from the itunes store and go to add it to my itouch, it only adds the new item, then erases my entire library. I recently purchased a tv show and when I went to sync my Itouch, I got a notice saying it would erase everything else to add this one show. I get this message everytime I use itunes. How can I add new music and shows without having to re-sync my entire library everytime????

You are using iTunes to place your songs on your iPod, yes?
You can have your library of music on any drive you wish. You just need to point iTunes to that new location in the Preferences.

So if I understand you correctly, you want to be able to sync only certain songs, artists, and albums correct? If so you can configure this set up from under the iPod's Music configuration tab in iTunes as described in the Syncing Automatically section in the Apple support document you linked in at the top of the page. Note that you cannot select only certain songs, but you can set it up to sync selected Artists, Genres, and Albums.
If the tab and its configurations are grayed out, it is likely because your iPod is set up for manual management, meaning the manually manage music and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab.

Are you syncing to a different computer? Iphone will sycn with only one at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
Otherwise, just select what you want to be on the iphone under the music tab and sync. What do you care if it erases? You will be syncing what you want to the iphone.

Plug in your iPad and hit sync. It should transfer your purchases. Or go under the purchased option in iTunes store and download your purchases. Connecting the iPad is easier.
