Itunes recognizing wrong ipod model

I had installed the new Itunes and brougth my Ipod up to date. Everything seemed to sync perfectly the first time i connected the Ipod to Itunes. after it was done updating I disconnected the device and realized, that it had updated everything except for the Music videos.
In trying to solve this problem I reconnected the Ipod to Itunes, but it would not recognize my Ipod model as it did befor it did not display the serial number nor my Ipod Name nothing. A white Ipod was displayed and the only options you could toggle with were Music, podcasts contacts and so on, I couldnt do anything conerning Videos of ally types.
I have tried reinstalling Itunes,I have restored my Ipod and its always the same thing. My Ipod is recognized the first time, but does not update music vieos, and when I try to sync it a second time it recognizes my Ipod as a older version.
please help me i am going on a back packing trip soon and I wont survive without my Ipod
A1136   Windows XP   it is a black fith generation Ipod = 60 GB

ok im getting so frustrated, everything was perfect until i installed the new firmware and Itunes. is there a way to go back to my old firmware i have already tried it with the installation CD of my Ipod and apparently i cant reset to an older version of the Ipod Firmware.
I had one Idea, tell me what you guys think.
What if I install Itunes on an external Hardrive witch also contains all my music, videos, artwork excetera. and then sync my Ipod with that.
let me know what u think

  • ITunes sees wrong iPod when device is connected

Inherited computer, windows XP, latest version of iTunes installed (uninstalled & reinstalled a couple of times). When I hook up my iPod, iTunes displays the previous owner's iPod and all its songs & videos. Can't find where to remove it and have it recognize my iPod instead. Any ideas? Thanks!

Try changing the drive letter in Windows Explorer associated with the iPod: Windows confuses iPod with network drive - The wrong iPod name displays in the iTunes source list.

  • HT1923 I had Windows 7 and Itunes recognized my Ipod Touch with no issues.  Now that I've upgraded to Windows 8 I can't get my Ipod Touch to be recognized by Itunes.  Any suggestions?

I can't seem to get my Ipod touch to be recognized by Itunes now that I'm using my new upgraded Windows 8 Pro.  Has anyone else experienced this problem and do you have a solution?
    Thanks.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Startng wth the iPhone and iPod Touch,  Apple stopped supportng "disc mode" (and that's why your iPod Touch isn't "Aplle format" or "Windows format").  You access the musc, apps, calendars, etc. through iTunes, and you access the photos through the camera interface.
Windows is not "installing the wrong driver" you are just assuming that the device operates in a way that the newer devices no longer support.  There are some 3rd party aps that will allow you to sync music from your iPod to your PC, but I have never used them so I can't tell you how well they work.  I do seem to recall that XPlay2 was one of the names that supposedly supported doing that though...

  • ITunes displays wrong iPod

I am plugging my iPod Nano into my PC at work. When I do, another iPod comes up with a different name and different contents. How can I get iTunes to recognize my iPod? My computer at work is networked to others as well.

Something I also notice, when I unplug my network LAN cable, I can then get my iPod to show up. Does that change your advice?
no, that's pointing even more strongly towards the drive letter confusion issue.
actually, in these cases an "identity swap" usually indicates a double drive letter confusion. someone else gets a drive letter confusion, and an ipod_control folder makes its way onto a network or attached hard drive. (that folder contains info like the name of the ipod.) then when you attach your ipod, there's another drive letter confusion, your itunes sees the drive with the misplaced ipod_control folder on it, and it thinks it's looking at the other ipod.
are your IT people relatively kind and amenable types, who would be prepared to change the drive letter mappings on your PC if you asked them nicely?

  • ITunes recognizes my iPod Classis but unable to sync

iTunes lets me eject by using the little iPod icon in the top right. iTunes will not let me restore or access iPod inside iTunes. A few days ago iTunes recognized my iPod, but would only let me restore it back to a blank slate. I did that and I was able to sync everything from my library. The next day I go back and it shows my iPod as being plugged in, but will not let me sync, restore, or do anything to my iPod. I've read through all the support docs online, my iTunes is up to date, drivers are up to date, no idea what the issue is now.

  • ITunes quits when iPod attached

OK, My mac crashed this morning and since then, when I plug in my iPod with iTunes running, it quits. I can get it to work from an alternate login, so I have tried trashing all the itunes and ipod plist files on my main login and replacing them with the ones on my alternate login. I also moved all the folders named "sync service" and "sync services" onto the desktop. Repaired permissions, ran disk warrior. Nothing works! I know I had this problem several months ago and forgot to save the solution!
Anyone remember the solution to this?

Update: I tried everything I could find on here and finally itunes recognized the ipod. That was yesterday.
Today, the ipod won't power up, won't charge, won't do anything. It's about a year old.
    Help! What's wrong now!!!!!!

  • Yet More ITunes 7 and Ipod Issues

So, it seems like everyone else, I've been cursed with the [deleted] software that Apple released far prematurely.
I've rolled back to 6.0.4, and now my ITunes functions properly. My Fifth-Generation Ipod, however, is down hard. It connects to the computer, is never displayed in the Finder, and locks up at the "Do Not Disconnect" phase, which never flashes like it's supposed to.
I've attempted to put it into disk mode, but it won't take, for some reason. I've also run the built-in diagnostics, and it's not a problem with the IPod itself - it passed with flying colors.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

    Hi...
Yesterday I tried to watch a movie from a 5G Ipod in my macbook with Itunes 7.0.1....
Itunes recognized the Ipod but unfortunately it was impossible to watch any movie or video... there wasn't any problem listening music from the Ipod... !!!
The most strange was, I decided to quit trying in the macbook, and went to my old pc windows with Itunes... the Ipod was recognized and I could watch the movie without any problem...
Today... I went to the Apple store in Rotterdam (netherlands) where I bought the macbook, we try with another Ipod in my macbook, and it didnt work, then, we tried the Ipod in another macbook and it didn't work either.
I am little bit dissapointed, because It is supposed that an Ipod should work efficiently with a new macbook!!!!...
I do not know if I have missed to set in the system something before using the Ipod...
Hope that somebody could give me a good advise...
    regards

  • ITunes 6 destroys iPod ... please help!

Let me begin by saying I have wasted my extra hour from "falling back" and ending daylight savings online in these discussion forums. And, I have wasted many more hours after that one gimme.
I see several posts with similar issues but have really confused myself and backed myself into what appears a real jam. I have similarities to others but am not sure how to attack my issue.
I should also thank Apple. Your update totally destroyed me.
I use iTunes and my iPod 4G 40GB between two Windows 2000 computers. At work I upgraded to 6.01 without really thinking about it (mistake #1). My iPod was then, I assume, updated from the Sept. update (iTunes 5) to the October one (iTunes 6).
Then, Friday night, I decided to go to sleep listening to music and let my iPod drain its battery (mistake #2).
Last night, I was trying to transfer songs at home with my iTunes 5 version. I was receiving errors that certain files were not on my iPod. When disconnecting from iTunes, I could listen to the songs on the iPod. So, I decided I better sync my iTunes versions and upgraded the home version to 6.01 (not sure if this was a mistake but likely).
After the upgrade, my machine got real weird. The iPod wasn't recognized in iTunes but was recognized in Windows. Startup got real slow as it seemed like the iPod was really trying to do something (update?). "Do not disconnect" was the iPod's message.
I panicked and spent a few hours within these forums. Eventually, after an uninstall and repair, I figured maybe the iPod was really getting updated behind the scenes and did like one poster said worked for him: I slept on it and let the update run its course.
This morning, things looked fine. iTunes recognized the iPod! I thought I was in the clear.
Then, tonight, I reconnected the iPod. This time the infamous chkdsk error surfaced. It's the only time I have seen this error. I "rebooted" the iPod. Now, I get the sad iPod icon.
In summary, I've gone from working without a hitch, to working with a hitch, to not working.
Da Gopha ... please hear my call ... are you there? Someone else?

Da Gopha ... oh ... is your message a sight for sore iPods! My distress signal was found! Hallelujah!
    1) My iPod's current state on a reset is the Apple logo followed by the dreaded sad face. Without the USB 2.0 connection (home PC) or USB 1.0 connection (work), my iPod will shut down afterwards. Connected to the USB, the iPod will loop a few times between the logo and sad face before eventually shutting down or displaying a battery and lightning bolt.
I connected the iPod to the power cord last night--hoping that a miracle would happen overnight via some real power--but the iPod appeared to just loop throughout the night between the logo and sad face. Note that the iPod now makes a slight noise (like other posters describe--a low grinding type/whirling noise). I have to put my ear next to it to hear it though.
    2) I can't get a PC to recognize my iPod anymore when it is attached so I'm not sure how to perform the restore. (iPodUpdater smiles at me and basically says "I'm ready when you are ... plug your iPod in." But, it's in.) Thoughts? Worthy of a visit my local Apple store?
    3) I didn't record the chkdsk error, but it basically stated there was a particular song that was bad on the iPod. After that, I tried to reset and basically got to where I am now. Prior to the reset, I could access the iPod in 2000, albeit real slowly.
    4) iPod is 4G 40 GB. I have kept the iPod and iTunes up to date ... always taking the latest versions. But, unfortunately, given it's state, I cannot view the specifics.
The good news in all of this story is that I am under warranty (I believe so at least given that I'm in my first year as an iPod owner). I'm thinking maybe I need to drop into my local Apple store sometime today/tomorrow.

  • Windows and itune  not recognizing my ipod shuffle

i got ipod shuffle 2 weeks before .it was working for 2 days. after that i got no response frm other day.now my windows and itune is not showing my ipod and when i connect it to my system orange light blink for three times and then stops.
    please do help me...

I've downloaded itunes, tried researching and
troubleshooting til I'm blue! I plug in the ipod and
the only thing my device manager shows is USB mass
storage device. By the way, my ipod did NOT come with
an installation disc. And yes it's fully charged. The
orange lights up while charging and when I plug in
the ear pods the blue light stays lit.
IF the GREEN LED stays lit continuously, SOMETHING is seriously wrong with the Shuffle! READ the following
article, "Understanding iPod shuffles status lights", especially the part on " Using iPod shuffle to play music"

iTunes is not recognizing the ipod either (as my
    friend said it should)
I even installed itunes on a friends' computer and
had the same problem. I just got this for my son for
Christmas and needless to say he's a bit
    disappointed.
    Did I buy a lemon?
Perhaps...but they're Not ALL lemons by any means.
    Please help!!!
