ITunes refuses to sync apps due to lack of authorization, when it *is* authorized?

Hey all,
Just tried to sync my iPhone today, and received an error that 64/66 of my apps on my phone would be deleted unless I authorized my computer for them. Thought it was weird, since I'm already authorized, but figured I'd reenter my stuff anyway. Notifications popped up after saying "Your computer is already authorized," and then when I say "OK" to them, the "authorize your computer or your apps die" error pops up again.
I've tried deauthroizing and reauthorizing through both the Store>Authorize as well as the prompts, and neither work. Anyone know how to fix this?

Oddly enough, deauthorizing all computers worked for this. Hopefully that helps anyone else with issues.

when trying to sync my iPhone i get a message saying : iTunes can't sync apps to iPhone because the apps installed on the phone could not be determine. what is going on?

I received the same error message after I had recently updated iTunes to 10.5.1 and I had wirelessly updated 13 apps.  I had to go into iTunes and select Apps, on the bottom right it said I needed to update 13 apps.  I updated the apps via iTunes and then synced again without an issue.

  • ITunes can not sync apps to the iPhone because it can not be determined which apps are installed on the iPhone.

    Hello.
    I get this error message
iTunes can not sync apps to the iPhone because it can not be determined which apps are installed on the iPhone.
iTunes kann keine Apps mit dem iPhone synchronisieren weil nicht festgestellt werden kann welche Apps auf dem iPhone installiert sind.
    Need Help

Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.  Have the first two been tried?
How about simply unplugging the iPhone and plugging it back in to sync?
What has been done in an attempt to troubleshoot the issue?

  • How do I prevent iTunes 11 from syncing apps with my devices?

I want to be able to sync music to my iPad and iPod but I do not want to store their apps on my computer. Since iCloud remembers which apps I own, this is (in my mind) unnecessary. How do I prevent iTunes 11 from syncing my apps? This did not use to be a problem because in iTuens 10 it was an option. Now it seems that it isn't.

Well, in fact the application stopped opening automatically for no reason that is clear to me. For about 5 days after I updated the software it opened automatically when I plugged in or unplugged my phone. Then it suddenly stopped. All I did between the last automatic open and the time that it ceased was, in the options window, uncheck the "manually manage music and videos" option and then check it again without clicking "apply" and also checking "sync only checked songs and videos" and unchecking again without clicking apply.
I can't really recall now, but I thought that I played around with those settings and no matter what, I never saw the Option for Automatically Sync when Connected in iTunes.
I can think of no reason why this would halt the automatic opening but it has definitely stopped. Yet I still don't have the option listed in the options window to "prevent itunes from opening automatically when device is connected."
This is all very strange to me but I can think of nothing to pursue it further.
I can't think of any reason why it would trigger that behavior and of the other 170+ views that this discussion has received, I suppose that nobody else had anything to offer either.
I can't think of anything else to pursue it further either and as long as it is working the way that you want it to work now, I can't think of any need to pursue it further.

  • How can I prevent iTunes 12 from syncing apps?

I know that syncing apps to your computer backs the app(s) up so you don't have to download the apps all over again, but for me it doesn't hurt to start all over downloading all the apps one by one. I have an iPhone 6 on iOS 8.1.2, one day I started syncing the iPhone to the latest version of iTunes 12 on my Mac running Lion (10.7.5). I was trying to sync new music onto the phone but iTunes insisted on syncing all 50 or so apps, half of them about 500MB or more, then on the halfway mark iTunes would not respond, I force quitted, reopen iTunes, and get a popup saying "The iTunes Library.itl is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file." I had to grab all of my music, books, and tones folder to my desktop, delete my iTunes library folder, and rebuild my iTunes library all over again putting all of my media back into the iTunes library folder. I did this so many times, sync, quit, rebuild library and get the same results. This irritates me because not only does it consume time, but it takes up space on my mac. Is there any way to prevent iTunes from syncing all of my apps to my Mac?

There are services.sync.prefs.sync prefs related to which prefs to sync and you can set the corresponding services.sync pref to false to prevent syncing that pref.
You can set the pref <b>services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage</b> to <i>false</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • TS3694 Why is my i-tunes freezing up and is accompanied by a message "Saying Itunes can't save anything due to lack of memory and my system is equiped with 16gb?

I Have always used Itunes for my music and for reasons beyond me Itunes has been freezing up and lately it has bringing a mate that reseambles a normal Windows error message but it's telling me that Itunes has to close and the program can't save anything due to lack of memory ? So I updated the program to Version 10.6 last night and while downloading songs and album artwork Today it froze up an brought his mate the message back. And Yet my Laptop is as tooled up as well as a bovver boy on his way to a riot With 16gb of ddr3 plus 2 x Nvidia Gtx 580m's In Sli. So by rights any type of multimedia should run as smooth as silk and i never thought i would have a program make use of 16gb of ram all by itself. So if anybody has been through it an come out on top instead of passing Itunes over for another program and can give any advice or a hint would be much Appreciated... Thanks to Anybody listening....

Becasue something got corrupted on the iPod. It happens sometimes. Just restore the iPod to factory settings/new iPod and then try restoring from your backup.

  • ITunes refuses to transfer apps from iPhone 4

iTunes refuses to transfer my apps from my iPhone 4 to the comp. It transfered the songs no problem but whenever i try to transfer the apps it goes though this "speed" transfer process. It takes like 30 sec or less to "transfer" all my apps into my itunes. Ive tried various options like changing out cords and using different ports. I deleted the idevice info in the program data folder etc, etc. Yet nothing works. Im using Win 7 and iOS 4.3.5.

  • ITunes refuses to sync random videos from time to time

I have the problem tih 1.2.1 and had it with 1.2
When I plug my iPod in, iTunes sometimes refuses to sync some videos, that even are already on the ipod. They are within the specs and synced before. also played well.
And the next time I would connect the iPod they would just sync as always.
This is very strange as it randomly happens. I can't notice any system behind this behaviour. Happens to mpeg4 and h.264 videos. happens to musicvideos and to movies.
Does anyone know how to fix it? Does iTunes somehow recalculate the average bitrate everytime and magically gets another result everytime?!
    I'm very confused here!!
    Thanks in advance!!
    marco

The iPod is seeing the restored computer an a new iTunes library. To make the restored computer yu syncing computer:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed in the following:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and maike a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup

  • No deauthorise button available in iTunes account to sync apps between phone and iTunes

Message reads: "One computer is authorised to play content purchased with this Apple ID"  However there is no button to deauthorise one or all computers.  As a result i cannot sync apps back to iTunes from iPhone. If i do sync it will wipe all existing apps from the phone as the new version of itunes will not allow me to sync more than 5 computers.  I have only ever had iTunes on one laptop previously so i don't know why i am receiving this.  Is there a possible solution anyone can please recommend?

    Yes!
Luckily, if you be very careful and pay attention to what you have selected in itunes, you can separate these things
Basically, in iTunes, there are tabs at the top for Summary, info, apps, etc..
These tabs control PER DEVICE what syncs between itunes and the device.
Therefore, you can plug iPhone 4S #1 in, and select to sync contacts with address book, then do so.  Then plug iPhone 4S #2 in, and not choose to sync with address book.  iTunes will keep these settings separate. However, in that situation for music and apps, you would check to sync both on both, in order to get all music and apps on each.
The only thing to watch out for, each computer 'user' has only one set of address book and ical, meaning that if you want to sync both phones to the computer, but dont want to mix contacts, only one phone will be able to sync contacts and/or calendars.  Basically, each category in the Info tab will only hold one device's information, so you CAN do contacts with iPhone 4S #1, and calendars with #2.

  • ITunes could not sync apps because apps could not be determined

iPhone 3G with current iOS software and latest version of iTunes using a Windows 7 PC.
    - so I was transferring pictures from my Mom's iPhone to the computer and syncing other pictures back onto the phone. all well and good. then I do a general sync and iTunes said something about the computer not being authorized to sync apps or something. so i authorized it. **** (here's the tricky part: my mom doesn't use the iPhone for music or anything like that... just calls, texts, apps, etc. so when she first got the iPhone my brother just set up the phone using his iTunes account. I have no idea if this caused any sort of malfunction or not, but it hadn't in the past)***  After I authorized the computer, the phone just kept syncing and syncing and syncing, but nothing was happening so I just canceled it, unhooked it from the computer, and I thought that was that.
Well, earlier she tried to use a couple of her apps and they would open for a second and then just close. So i thought maybe I cut off the sync prematurely the night before. I came up to re-sync it and now (several times) I get this message that "iTunes cannot sync the apps to "name of iPhone" because apps could not be determined" message.
I tried restarting iTunes and the iPhone and re-hooking the phone up to the computer, but everytime it acts like it's syncing but then the message appears.
I ran a diagnostic test through iTunes and it said the iPhone was not being recognized, but it is. ??? It just won't sync the apps even though they are all still on her phone. They just don't work.
When I click on the Apps icon in iTunes when the phone is hooked up it shows all the checked apps on the left side, but the screen shot just says "Loading Device..."
Nothing is working and I would hate to remove all the apps and either have to re-organize all the pages or lose them completely even though they are all free apps.
Any ideas on what the issue is or a fix? Would this have anything to do with having two iPhone 3G phones connected to my brother's iTunes account?

Okay so I thought of something after I submitted my question.. I took my mom's phone and hooked it up to my HP Notebook PC that runs Windows Vista and synced it. after updating some apps through the iPhone's app store the phone is now working again. And my computer did not receive the "iTunes cannot sync apps..." message.
Weird, I'll see if it continues to work tomorrow. I will try to re-sync it with her Windows 7 desktop PC and see if it gets the message again or not.
Weird, but it fixed it (I assume) so I figured I'd post trying to sync with another computer or operating system as a fix.

  • ITunes refusing to sync more than one podcast

I'm having a bit of trouble syncing desired podcasts to my new Nano. I'm using manual sync, and if I attempt to add more than one different podcast by dragging, as suggested by iTunes help, the program is nonresponsive and refuses to sync. It's necessary for me to use manual sync, as I need to pick and choose the exact episodes I want. I've found nothing anywhere in help referring to this, anything anyone has to offer would be appreciated.
    Will

i have exactly the same problem with my iphone 4. if i create a new ringtone, it will synch temporarily. It gives me enough time to fool me into thinking i've managed to fix it and even allows me to assign the new tones to contacts. I can even synch several times without issue. But give it 24hours and good ole marimba is the default, and all but one ringtone remain.
If it makes any difference, these ringtones are self created using a CD i own and have ripped into itunes, then converted using the itunes method (resize to less than 30s, export to aac, then change the postfix to .m4r and reload).
Also worth noting is that they show up and can be played in the itunes>library>ringtones.
Any help would be oh so appreciated (before i pull any more hair out).
