ITunes refusing to allow sync

After having a system recovery on our computer and losing all music on board, I went back to iTunes, redownloaded music store, etc and hooked up my iPod mini. All was okay as first after I agreed to the "synching of only the purchased music" and they all came thru. I went on to buy some right after that, hooked up my iPod and now iTunes tells me I can only have "one iPod per account and the one I have hooked up aint it." I can wipe out my music and start over but that just isn't an option - Please help!!
  Windows XP

So here's the fix:
The handset was logging into my account using @[email protected], the MPB was logged into the same account using my eamil address - even though they were logged into the same account, they didin't seem to want to share purchases.
Simply changing my phone tpo login using my email address, rather than the @me login got everything working properly again.

  • Itunes will only allow sync from itunes to iphone

purchased new macbook pro want to sync my iphone library to this computer itunes only allows sync from library to iphone there is nothing in library on new machine
i have a pc in office that i use and have been syncing there

This is true and is the way the iphone is intended to be used. It is not a backup device.
You should move your music from the old computer to the new one first then sync. You should have a backup of all of your music/pics/docs/etc. Use this to transfer the music, or the Apple Store will do ti for you, or you can call Apple Support and they will help you.
The iphone will sync to ONE computer at a time. When you sync to another it will erase the media from the iphone and replace with the content from the new computer.

  • Attempting to Update-iTunes refuses to allow re-direct to correct drive

After much work - and major hostility, I was able to get the previous version of iTunes to download on my secondary drive (H:) However, when I attempt to upgrade to the 7.7 version it insists on downloading/running on the I: drive WHICH DOES NOT EXIST. I hit the browse button, to re-direct and I get booted out to "finish" to try again. I click continue and it completes to about 80% and gives the error that I am out of "disk space Volume: 'I:'; required space 82,643 KB; available space: 0KB. Free some disk space and retry." Obviously there is no disk space because it does not exist!!!!!
    Any ideas?

Just noticed through Disk/Drive Management (going places in my computer I've never been) that the I: drive is *MY PRINTER*. iTunes is defaulting to my PRINTER and won't allow me to change to the correct location.

  • New iTunes 11.01.12 won't allow sync to PC if iCloud is also enabled

I upgraded today to itunes 11.01.12 (not sure what version I had previously - it was quite different visually but not very out-of-date).
I have a "notes" account on my iphone which I sync to outlook on windows. Most of my notes are in this account.
I also have an icloud notes account which I use for occasional notes that I want to share with my ipad.
The new itunes will no longer allow me to sync notes to my computer while I have the icloud notes enabled.
If I disable the icloud notes, I can sync my iphone notes to outlook, but as soon as I reenable the icloud account - this option disappears from itunes.
Instead it informs me that my "notes are being synced with your iPhone over the air from iCloud".
It also says that "Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone", but the only setting I can find is to disable the iCloud notes altogether.
I have been running two accounts like this for about 12 months now (ever since I got an ipad) with no problem - until the upgrade to the new itunes.
Does anyone know a way around this - without reverting back to an old version of itunes?
    Thanks
PS It seemed best to simplify my question to one application (ie notes) but I have exactly the same problem with the "calendars" and the "contacts" applications as well - which I have likewise until now been able to have a "From My PC" account and an "iCloud" account run side-by-side, and still be able to sync with Outlook

You can change the Default Notes account with which your iPhone syncs by going to Settings > Notes and then tapping "Default Account" from there you can choose iCloud, On My iPhone, and possibly Outlook.
Also, a workaround for the issue is using third-party apps designed to backup your iPhone notes.
Thanks for the tip regarding the third party product (CopyTrans).  This does look like a good workaround
Unfortunately your suggestion re setting the "default account" is inaccurate.
This sets which account new notes will go into, not which account iTunes syncs to.
My default notes account is already set to "On My iPhone", but iTunes refuses to sync it if the iCloud notes account is also activated
My original problem remains.  I still cannot sync to PC while iCloud is one of the active accounts.
Given that notes and mail and calendar all allow for multiple accounts, it seems crazy to me that you can only sync the iColud account if it is activated as one of the multiple accounts.  Any other accounts are ignored by iTunes !!!!

  • New iTunes will not allow me to manually sync music to Iphone 4s

I had to change my computer's hard disk which is a mac, I updated itunes as I had done before with my other hard disk, but now my itunes will not allow me to manage anything in my iphone 4s. I cannot manually sync music to my iphone as I used to, not even the option "ADD TO" appears when you click on the "On this phone" tab. I was wondering what I have to do for my itunes to recognize that it is my phone.

It gets stuck at preparing to update every time I try.

  • Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

Somehow my Itunes started a new music library and I lost the old library.  Itunes will not allow me to sync new music from my computer to my Ipod because it is now in a different library. Itunes wants to delete all my Ipod music before sync any new music. How do I work around this. I think this happened during Itunes Upates.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

In mail app, you can remove the account and add theirs in settings>Mail, Calendars,Contacts.
or add theirs only and in mail, go up a level and view each inbox seperately.
The ipad is not designed for multi-user use however so it is not easy.

  • ITunes 9 not allowing most smart playlists to automatically sync with iPod

Oh dearie me. This is another major blunder for iTunes 9 - which I cannot see anyone else has noticed yet (but sorry if I couldn't find an existing related post).
Since upgrading to iTunes 9- almost all of my smart playlists (whick worked perfectly before) have disappeared from my iPod. They have also removed themselves from the list in iTunes where I choose which playlists to sync. Yes- I use the 'sync only checked songs & playlists' option (but please don't suggest I manually manage music, as I've been there before).
The problem seems to happen when a smart playlist references 2 or more other (smart or normal) playlists in iTunes. This excludes about 95% of my playlists from syncing in iTunes 9.
Before the upgrade I noticed that iTunes posted an exclamation mark next to any playlist on my iPod that had a rule referencing a playlist in iTunes- but they still sunc perfectly for years. I mean if Apple allowed us to make our own smart playlists only for the iPod- then I would understand- but its the only way I can see to have a playlist for example that plays all favourite but not recently played dance music (regardles of actual genre); nor anything I have moved to a manual playlist called 'not for syncing'.
As a test, I tried an experiment with a new smart playlist which said so long as the song appears in (all) 2 smart playlists- to see when it would become 'syncable'. As would be expected- it was not available to sync. As soon as I deleted the 2nd playlist rule- ie it only had to be in 1 playlist, it became 'syncable'. As soon as I added a 2nd rule again- be it a smart or normal playlist- it became 'unsyncable' again (disappeared from the sync list).
Apple please fix this ASAP. I cannot see this as being desirable behavior in any way, shape or form.
And while you are at it with the new improvements with iTunes 9 playlisting- please add an option to exclude certain 'match' parameters- eg match x and y, but exclude anything that matches z. Besides allowing for much better playlisting, that would (to a degree) also provide a workable workaround to the problem above.
    Yours faithfully,
    Mike

Cheers for chiming in- but I don't think that will solve this problem. I have no podcasts on my iPod- only mp3s. My problem is I have way too much music in my library- over 300GB. So I have all my iTunes smart playlists- eg genre Dubstep- but then I have an iPod version of each of these eg Dubstep iPod- which says match both criteria- playlist is Dubstep, & playlist is not 'Master not sync'. Every smart playlist on my iPod revolves around this playlist- whose rules are if any of the following 2 criteria match: rating is not between 1&2 stars; playlist is not the normal manual playlist called 'not for iPod sync'- where I drop any mp3s that I don't need on my iPod. This scheme worked perfectly before.
But I am gonna chew on what you said today- maybe there is a clue in there or maybe if I experiment with the 'music' rule. Either way- this is not an improvement- it's about 200 steps back. I still maintain that the problem I am seeing is not intentional coding. Something broke in the codebase & now iTunes 9 has playlist / syncing bugs which need fixing.
Either that, or Apple need to finally release a 500GB iPod- so I can get rid of my iPod specific playlists & sync all my iTunes playlists. Then I would even consider putting podcasts on there as well...;) Heck maybe even some video... crazy idea, I know.

  • Itunes refuses to let ipod sync, says "Mobile Device Service is not started

So for some reason my iTunes refuses to sync. Itunes announces it that there is something wrong with syncing, something about "bonjour being disabled" and then it asks if I would like itunes to fix the problem. I hit yes. Itunes then "fixes" the problem, by ignoring that there is an ipod connected to the computer, and refuses to acknowledge the ipod's existence even if I run a diagnostic. I tried downloading bonjour for windows, thinking that might solve the issue, but no such luck, it tells me i already have bonjour for windows on my computer--god knows where it thinks bonjour is, since running find turns up nothing.
Anyone have a clue how to smack itunes upside the head and get it to start syncing again?

  • Itunes does not allow me to sync music with iphone?

Itunes does not allow me to sync music with iphone?

Have a similar issue.  Have iphone 4 running ios7.  itunes 11.1.3.8.  Probably is intermittent (once every 2 weeks?) and persistent.   Syncs fine for days.  Then all at once playlists are not updated.   For example; over the holidays I added some holiday songs to a playlist.  Today I removed the holiday songs from the playlist in itunes.  Sync the phone.  All messages indicate sync is successful.  Songs still in playlist on the phone!  Continues to happen over multiple syncs.  In the past I have had some songs update but not all songs.  This cycle of attempting syncing continues until other songs on the iphone 'disappear' (they are listed in playlists but don't play!).   Don't know the cause but it is very annoying and unpredictable.   Eventually taking all music off the iphone and then adding it back works but even this take multiple iterations.   These issues seem to have started after upgrading to ios7.  I have workarounds that are very timeconsuming.  I'm interested in solutions to the root cause.  Can anyone help?

  • ITunes is not allowing me to sync music

Hello! I was looking for help and ended up here.
When attempting to sync music to my iPod Touch through iTunes, iTunes tells me that I need to wipe the music entirely from my device before I can do this. I am attempting this on a new computer, and this is not the first computer I have synced to. If at all possible, I would like to avoid continuing to sync my iPod to the old computer (it takes a minimum of 15 minutes just to boot, then another 10 to pull up iTunes and get the sync going). Is there any possible way to sync to my new computer?
    Specs:
Old Computer - Dell Inspiron, Windows XP
New Computer - ASUS Transformer Book T100, Windows 8.1
iPod Touch - Apple iPod Touch 5th Generation, iOS 7.1
iTunes has been updated and the new computer is authorized to my iTunes account. I am not attempting to switch iTunes accounts in any way, and all 3 devices are attached to the same account.
    Thanks!!

Thanks for taking the time to respond and for doing it so quickly!!
Oh wait, that article is incorrect for what I need it for. I probably should've clarified. I still have the old computer, but I don't want to have to continue using it.
