ITunes Region-Changing Problem

Hi, I am a Windows-running iTunes 10 user in the US. I only make my iTunes store purchases from the US store, but oftentimes there are things not available in the store that are only available in other countries' stores. I can't buy the music since my billing address is US-based, but I do enjoy listening to the previews of songs. Anyway, a few days ago I was able to change the region from the US to, say, Japan, and then change it back to the US again if I wanted. However, recently when I tried clicking on a different country to change the region, iTunes would freeze, and I would have to force-quit it. I would then open iTunes again, only to find that the store's region had been set back to the default- the US store. Otherwise, the store ran normally and at its usual speed. This has only started today. How can I fix this problem? Is there anyone else who has been having it? Is there an update contained in a newer version of iTunes (I have all but the most recent update) that helps to cancel the freezing that occurs? Thanks.

Think there is a limit to the number of times you can change region as it is meant to be used when you actually move to a new country... You have probably hit it and now you most likely cant ever change it again (using the same account) as its designed not to allow what you have been doing :-) Sorry mate.

Now he wants to change his account region to the uk, but it keeps telling him he has to spend the account balance before he can change it..     The only way to get rid of that leftover balance is to contact iTunes Customer Service.  They will zero it out, and then he can change country.

  • Films I do not possess anymore prevent me from changing my iTunes region, although my last film ran out a good month ago.

    So I got a new bank card with some cash on it a good month ago and wanted to change my iTunes region to the UK, since that is where I'm living right now. My last one was set to Germany, since I was running over a different card. I borrowed The Avengers for 2 days from iTunes 3 weeks ago, and so the time ran out and the film was deleted from my Mac and iTunes. Yet still I get the message above, that I still possess that movie and until it runs out, I cannot change my region.
    Anyone got ideas on how to fix that?

    The problem is, that the movie WAS deleted off my Mac already, so I don't even have the option to watch it. And since it ran out back in September, I have waited for more than a week for it "to run out".

    Disabled
    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • How can I stop iTunes from changing tags in Widows 8?

    So, this is not new to Windows 8, I've also had this problem for years with Windows 7 also. However it seems to have gotten worse with Windows 8. I've been hoping Apple would fix this but it has been an ongoing nagging problem with iTunes for as long as I can recall, maybe 2008-ish?
    Here is my problem, I double click a song and the song starts playing and simultaneously disappears. I then realized the song was moved to a duplicate artist name. The reason for this is iTunes has filled in the sorting tag info for "album artist". So they have the same "artist" and "album" but different album artists. So I delete the album artist and they recombine. I then play another song and poof its gone as well. Resorted with a new "album artist". So I fight a never ending battle or keeping my songs grouped correctly because iTunes keeps changing the tags and messing up the sort order.
    The next problem I have is I go though my artist list and find "Santana/Santana" or "Bob Seger/Bob Seger". Why is it changing the artist tag from "artist" to "artist/artist" on my tag? I then see two Bob Seger artists. One has an "album artist" of "Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band" the other is blank since I don't use the "album artist" tag. So for years I'm constantly re-editing tags trying to keep iTunes from separating artists into multiple listings.
    As I said previously lately it is so bad that every time I click a song it vanishes into a new artist album listing creating duplicates. I've disabled every preference I could find and nothing works. So at this point I assume it is an iTunes problem. Am I the only one who has this problem?

    I think even using Get Info may not reveal the change, though it is possible the behaviour has altered since I last tested it. Playing or updating the tracks location in a script such as UpdateTagInfo seems to get iTunes to re-evaluate the tag.
    Assuming WMP is involved it may be best to make the necessary settings adjustments to prevent further changes, use the script to get all of the background changes exposed within iTunes, then correct as you see fit. Alternatively I do have another script called ExportImport that could be used to back up the current state of your tags (you should temporarily rename the media folder during the export phase), after which you would then run UpdateTagInfo and then use ExplortImport in its import mode to restore the corrupted data.

    I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
    Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
    You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
    Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
    There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Error 70001 when changing DVD region (changes still allowed)

    I still have allowable DVD region changes left on DVD player, but when I try to apply a region change, error message 70001 appears.
    Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I've looked on various online forums and tried using VLC - but this doesn't work - and used MacTheRipper to no avail either.

    Are you sure the DVD is region 1 ONLY? You can't always trust the label. I have a three DVD boxed set that says region 1. One of the DVDs is multiple region.

  • Keynote is not free in Mac Appstore after Region Change

    Hello
    The following issue. MacBook Pro 13 Retina (Late 2013) was activated when I was still in the Austrian Appstore.
    Due to temporary loacation change, I've switched to the Russian Appstore.
    Pages, Numbers downloaded just fine, while Keynote is priced at ca. 15 USD (or 20 USD with old exchange rate).
    Logistically, this is nonsense because Late 2013 MBP ships with iWorks for free.
    Problem sits somewhere in the store change routine.
    NB: on iPad and iPhone, Keynote is free (!!!!) despite the region change
    Can someone help?

    Please don't type in all capital letters. It makes your post harder to read.
    Have you checked the Applications folder to see if the programs are there? If they are, drag them to Launchpad.

    Hi everyone! I have been thinking of buying an iPhone 5c (or 5s I haven't made a decision yet) in the United Arab Emirates, but the thing is that the phones here don't have FaceTime, not that that's that big of a deal for me, but I am going back to the United States in June. I talked to a friend who told me that one she took her phone to the states it was harder for her to hold on to her 4G and she kept getting the E symbol on the top left of her phone. Now I am not sure if it is because of the phone itself or the carrier (T-Mobile) but were I to buy a phone here, I would like to be assured that my phone wont have many problems going back to the states. I would like to buy a phone soon as the phone I am currently using is garbage and I can not stand it a second longer. So basically my questions are 1. Will my phone be slower in the United States because of the region change and what are the other problems I might face? and 2. Is there ever a way to get facetime on my phone? (1 is more important than 2) Thank you for your time and help.

    If you buy one from Du or Etisalat, it will be closed for use only in their networks. I bought a factory unlocked 5S from the US, no problems at all using it in Dubai, UK, France. Don't know if it was because I bought my 4S in Dubai or the model itself, but it would not work with my foreign SIMs and service was extremely dodgy outside of the UAE with my UAE chip. In short, I think you should wait...

    I use only one Apple ID and only one ID. I did have to change the password at one point but I had no issues at all with updating apps after I changed the password.
    If you can download new apps with the ID that you changed the password for, I would think that you will be able to update apps associated with that ID as well.
    Did you try restarting the iPad after signing out of the one account and then sign in to the other account/accounts?

    after updating to ios5, the itunes app changed language, went to dutch. All other apps are in french, regional settings set to french.
    is there a way to change the itunes back to french?
    this didn't happen with my ipad, wich seems to have exactly the same settings...

    While you are correct that cover flow appears to have been dropped, you can still see the artwork in large form, by clicking on the thumbnail that you mention:

    sorry, or add a bit of silence from another region (file) and glue them together then select create (when asked) for a new file.

Is it possible to Save my last library and Playlist and re-name everything else in my itunes account so it will again show "Itunes Music Library" Past libraries are of no consiquence . I'm hoping removing everything except  the last Library on my computers will make Virtual DJ  recognize it. I tried renameing  the Library to "Itunes Music Library" but it did not work. I fear the problem is in the Registry and without the correct path I am reluctand to play around  in there. Any help would be appreciated.

    Incidentally, my first thought was to map a network share from the NAS to my computer, so that my music files appear on the Z: drive, say on my computer. I could then set up iTunes to store music etc in that folder, and to copy all new items to that folder. However, if I do that, all that'll happen is that on my NAS, the library file will become out of date as I add music to the collection but not to the index.
