Itunes register settings missing

when itunes opens I get a message that says _The Registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning cd's and dvd's are missing.This can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software. Please Reinstall itunes. The thing is I dont have any other cd burning softwatre on my computer. It did come with Nero-But it was uninstalled a long time ago. I have used the un install or repair function in windows for itunes several times and repair does not work-and un install does take it out but when it reinstalls it is the same as it was before. how do I fix this problem help"""

hi, Every time i startup itunes 7 on my pc i get this screen and i can't burn anything (i an import though):

i've re-installed five times (and no, i don't have another burning software installed, except for the basic windows cd writing thing) in the last two days, and i keep getting this error. i'm having problems downloading album art (tunes hangs then i have to end itunes manually) , and also: when i try to use coverflow my system hangs and then i get a blue screen of death and the system restarts (something i haven't seen since the days of windows 98). right now i'm scared to plug in my ipod 4g, for fear that it might go haywire with this version of itunes.
system specs:
2ghz Celeron
512mb of ram
windows xp home sp2

with the blue screen, let's try getting a minidump to the Apple enginners for a look.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
collect the minidump, and send it to this email address

Thanks John UK. I checked the firewall but it set to allow all incoming calls. So, I am still at square one. Any further suggestions?

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

After I install Itunes 10.5.2 and open itunes a window opens stating another program is not allowing itunes to burn cd's. Next, I get an error window stating itunes 42404 is missing. I've uninstalled itunes 3 times and re-installed. No luck.

It was Love Actually. It's been in my library a few years but is now missing. It's odd...it isn't even in the iTunes Store anymore. I think there is a rights issue because a message appeared in the store saying it wasn't available at this time in the U. S. store. I do not mean the entire ITunes folder but, rather, the contents of the ITunes folder prior to September 29th. (90% of the media is missing, along with all playlists) The media that remains says it was added on 9/29 although I know most of it was added many months or even years earlier. There are no playlists listed at all, before or after 9/29. (I know for certain that I added non-iTunes purchased songs on 10/6 although I had not created playlists for them)
I have my iTunes folder backed up on both an external drive as well as Time Machine.
I run iTunes off of an ITunes folder on my computer rather than from the external, if that's what you mean about how I have it set up.
Is it OK to drag the entire iTunes folder from the external drive onto my laptop's drive and see if that fixes it?

Unless you subscribe to Match, you will have to transfer your non-iTunes stuff from your old computer:

If you want to copy non-iTunes music off of your iPod (eg, if your old computer doesn't exist), you'll need to use a third party program. I don't know of any free ones anymore, but if you google, you can find several in the $19 range.

From things you are saying, such as "shared folder" and having both machines on, it doesn't sound to me like you truly moved the whole iTunes collection.

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

Use the backup of the computer to put the files back.
If no backup exists, the content was purchased iTunes, and you are in the US, they can be redownloaded from the iTunes store.
