I have recenylt downloaded a new version of iTunes but I have lost the ability to burn cd's I get the message Registry settings used by i Tunes drivers fo rImporting and burning are missing etc...........Please re-install Itunes - Please someone help!!

Since I installed Nero 2014 I get an error message when I start iTunes that registry settings for importing and burning cds/dvds have changed probably due to other burning software installed please reinstall iTunes, which I've done using 'repair' option, but the problem persists. I have been able to import cds to iTunes since I installed Nero, but it won't anymore. Does anyone recognize this problem and have a solution? Thanks for any help. Using Windows 7.

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

Can't install iTunes - registry settings missing
On installing iTunes, I get a message 'Registry settings used by iTunes for importing and burning CDs/DVDs are missing'. I have Vista and on updating it, I lose email, Norton etc. so tend not to update. Thanks to anyone who can help.
Resolved this problem by altering the registry settings (Microsoft Knowledge Base has the solution)

hi, Every time i startup itunes 7 on my pc i get this screen and i can't burn anything (i an import though):

i've re-installed five times (and no, i don't have another burning software installed, except for the basic windows cd writing thing) in the last two days, and i keep getting this error. i'm having problems downloading album art (tunes hangs then i have to end itunes manually) , and also: when i try to use coverflow my system hangs and then i get a blue screen of death and the system restarts (something i haven't seen since the days of windows 98). right now i'm scared to plug in my ipod 4g, for fear that it might go haywire with this version of itunes.
system specs:
2ghz Celeron
512mb of ram
windows xp home sp2

with the blue screen, let's try getting a minidump to the Apple enginners for a look.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
collect the minidump, and send it to this email address
in the email, make sure that you include:
(1) the minidump file (as an attachment).
(2) a link to this thread
(3) a brief description of your problem, and the context you're getting it in.
(4) the username that you're using here in the discussion boards. -
ITunes Registry Settings Message
When iTunes is executed I get this message:
"Warning!
The regisry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I tried several times to re-install the latest version of iTunes and still get this message. Can someone offer a suggestion? What causes this message to appear?

Registry Settings Message and Reinstalling iTunes
I have the following message when opening iTunes: Registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burnind CDs and DVDs are missing as a result of installing other CD burning softwware. Please reinstall iTunes. If I reinstall iTunes will I lose the CDs that I've already put into iTunes? Will my music files be safe or will I have to reload everything? Thank you!
Found support articles on this topic and will try this. It appears that the music files will not be lost, which is the big thing for me. Any other insight from the community at large is always welcome. Thank you.

Error message suggests reinstalling itunes - done. Nothing. (So thats the official Apple suggestion beig useless). Tried a number of fixes listed here after search revealed others had this problem. reinstalled itunes, removed ALL 3rd party burning software (even those that were present when itunes was working), amended registry settngs as detailed in Apple Support pages - this didnt work so returned them to original settings. Downloaded new updated Gear drivers etc still nothing. Does anyone have any other possible solutions? Am running an Acer laptop with Windows 7 and now iTunes 11.1.1.11.
Diagnostics run from iTunes says CD drive is working and can read the tracks etc but simply can not import anything. If it runs through one track it takes about 5-10 minutes per 4 minue track, then when you try and play it back it has only saved about 4 seconds worth of crackle. Also can not play the CDs through WMP either or VLC or anything else for that matter.
At wits end now, only option seems to bring forawrd the purchase of replacement laptop but dont want to have same issue in future.

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes" I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue. I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes. I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either. I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet. Would that perhaps fix the problem? I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue. I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop. Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?
I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using Homegroup. I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.

I have tried reinstalling numerous times but I keep getting the same message and I cannot use the burning feature. I have other burning software on my computer but it has always been there. This problem just started recently. Please help!
This same thing happened to me about two months. ago. I bought a new harddrive for my previously-fried netbook, and when I installed iTunes it gave me the missing registry business. So I came online and looked for solutions. This solution led to a different 'can't burn' error in iTunes, and I found a solution to that one, and it was like I was running in circles for a solid two weeks. Finally I managed to fix the problem, but after trying it hundreds of times I couldn't tell you which solution won out. Well, everything was fine and dandy, until I upgraded iTunes last night. Now its back to the same registry settings problem, and I want to maim something. Someone please help me ;___;

I am using OS 64 bit Windows Vista Home Premium and recently updated the latest version of iTunes. (I only have this CD burning software on my Laptop). Ever since updating, I received the message 'Registry settings for the iTune drivers are missing for CD burning'. The drivers for Lower and uppper filters in the registry are missingand I now have no optical drive. I have unistalled and reinstalled Itunes and manually entered the filters. Have tried everything including something called GEAR driver installer which was suggested on several technical sites. Everything was working fine in iTunes until I updated it.. It's strange I can still import music but not burn?? Friend s have told me they have ha dthe same problem when updating iTunes but resolved the problem by uninstalling/reinstalling or altering registry keys.
Today I went to use my Epson Printer and now have problems with it not working. I decided to uninstall/ install printer software and still can't get it to work either. I may be wrong but his all seems connected to me?

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.
Sorry, just this minute went to insert image and it is giving me a message saying this sort of content is not allowed?.
The most recent key I altered is in: HKey _local _machine. System\class - 4D36E965-E325-11CEBFC1-08002BE10318. Upper Filter data: Upper filter NTIDrvr SiRem GEARAspiWDN.

I use an ipod classic 120G. When I try to launch itunes I first of all see a box stating "The registry settings used by itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. Please reinstall itunes" This I have done. obviously I cannot burn CDs but worse still is my ipod is not being recognised by itunes and will not sync. I have not installed any new burning softeware.
