ITunes reinstall question on a new HDD.

Ok, this may be a bit different...I have not located an answer on the boards to solve this.
I installed a new HDD due to several persistent issues even after restoring from Time Machine more than once. I figured the issue was imbedded in my OS that lived in Time Machine. Seems correct, after install of new HDD and several wipes and reinstalls, I backed up iTunes and iPhoto and docs...on a new external HDD. I reinstalled OS imported photos, so far so good. How the heck do I only reinstall iTunes to include my iPhone data? I can copy/paste all the songs into the "new" iTunes but the iPhone is not recognized. Any ideas out there?

  • Reinstalling system on a new hdd

It seems like a common problem that the original Samsung HDDs die an early death. I started getting SMART 301 warnings several months ago, but my HP dv6 kept functionning normally until this week. Now it won't boot up, so it's time for a new HDD. I thought I was fully prepared, as I had been saving all my work on an external drive, had a nice new fast HDD to install and had my recovery discs at the ready. After running the recovery discs, I'm stuck. The new HDD won't boot, and I can't proceed with anything the HP Recovery console proposes me on its menu. Windows recovery is also stuck as there is no previous image saved on this new disc.
Looking at the new HDD, I see that the HP Recovery discs have only formatted 60GB, sort of a mini recovery partition and nothing else. When I try to restore the factory image, the HP Recovery Console refuses with the message this disk is smaller than the original.
Can anyone advise me how either to get around this with the recovery discs, or how I might just do a clean install of Windows 7 without having to buy a new installation disc outright? HP doesn't furnish a Windows disc with this computer.

    Hi,
Recovery Discs often have problems reinstalling the OS if the new HDD is smaller than the one installed when they were originally created.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
Assuming that this is just a problem with the Recovery process, there is a straight forward work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
If you don't have access to a retail disc, you can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

  • How can reinstall hp software on new hdd ssd more small?

how can reinstall all software hp on new hdd ssd if the new hdd is more small and don 't can use hp recovery media or recovery dvd  make with recovery manager?

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of the computer, inside the battery compartment, or on the BIOS startup/setup screen. Please do not include the serial number. Please enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and post it here for our review.
If your computer came with Windows 8, it may be possible to install the SSD and run your HP Recovery Discs successfully. If successful, your SSD will be partitoned with an OS partition and other partition. If this doesn't work you may be able to download Windows 8 OEM and install that, however your computer will have no HP customization and you won't be able to install any HP value-added software.
If your computer came with Windows 7, it is unlikely that your will be able to run your HP Recovery Discs successfully on the SSD. You may be able to download and install Windows 7, however your computer will have no HP customization and you won't be able to install any HP value-added software.
In both cases you may be able to "clone" the factory hard drive to the SSD.

  • After reinstall of OS and new HDD, can't import JPGs into iphoto from my SD card

My HDD failed - so I installed new HDD, reinstalled Snow Leopard and had Time Machine copy all my backed up content to my White Macbook (2007).
All my content is back - events etc in iphoto. But I just tried to import 200+ pictures from my camera's SD card, a process that has always worked flawlessly .... The thumbnails appeared blank on the Import screen. After clicking Import, and seemibgly going throufgh every picture, the error message was thatfiles could not be imported - The files are in an unrecognizable file format.
Any ideas? Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks, Johannes

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

No, permission is not necessary for re installation, and you can install LR on two computers in your possession.

  • ITunes Reinstall question

I have a problem. My old iPod died, and I got a new one, but I don't want to lose all the songs on my iTunes. My iTunes won't recognize the new iPod. Will reinstalling iTunes help? Will reinstalling iTunes cause me to lose my data?

You can uninstall and reinstall all you want and your music will stay the same... completely safe to reinstall, your music files will not be affected.

It should be like the very first time you synced your phone with I-Tunes. It will notice you haven't synced before and just copy everything from your phone into I-Tunes. It shouldn't delete anything from the phone, at least it never has for me. It just puts a copy of everything into I-Tunes and even if you delete an app for example from your phone and you decide you want it back later, you can just go back into I-Tunes and copy it back over. Hope this helps.

  • HT204406 My HDD crashed which held all of my music.  Can I recover the music from iTunes Match and download it back to a new HDD?

My HDD crashed and it contained all of the music from which iTunes and iMatch pulled files from.  Is there a way to recover the music from iTunes Match and download it back to my new HDD?

My computer HDD did not crash only my external drive with the music files.  I have not had to reinstall iTunes software.  The iTunes libarary is still complete and shows the complete list of music.  I have also ran Update iTunes Match and all of the music is on the cloud.
I cannot play the music from iTunes that is on the cloud, however the music I purchased from iTunes did download and it will plan from my computer.
The matched or uploaded music is what will not download and I can't find a command that allows me to download from Match.
Sorry if I'm not being very clear, however I do really appreciate your help and suggestions.

  • How could I restore everything in Firefox having new hdd replaced and Windows reinstalled?

Due to some reasons (possibly boot sector problems/virus infection) my laptop (running Windows XP Pro) failed to boot up last week. I've replaced a new hdd and just have Windows reinstalled.
The old hdd is in place and data on it is still accessible.
Version of Firefox was 3.6.4 (continuously upgraded from 3.0 beta 2), with all defaults installed on the old hdd.
Is it possible to restore everything (bookmarks, addons, history, preferences etc) in Firefox on the new hdd by copying files/folders from the old one? And what files/folders in specific?
Thank you so much for help in advance.

I was using another PC to post the question, please disregard the firefox version and plugins information above.

  • Purchasing a new HDD, need help a few details concerning iTunes and my music.

Alright, so I am currently using the hard drive that came with my computer when I got it way back when. I'm looking to upgrade ( For storage and performance improvements) and my question is this: What would be the best method to get my OS and files to the new HDD, while preserving the play count for my music as well as making it as smooth as possible with iTunes and my music?

If I've read that correctly, step 4 should be unnecessary because iTunes will know where your music is (the external HD).
Do step 4 if your library hasn't filled up with songs from your external HD by the time you come to step 4, so to speak.

  • New HDD - how to restore iTunes library from Time Machine

Installed a new HDD in my MacBook Pro, would now like to restore my iTunes library on the computer.
Searched & saw a post about "needing to use the Time Machine interface to restore the entire library".
What is this interface they are referring to and how do I find it?
I open Time Machine in preferences and see there is an "options" button, and you can add items to the restore window ... I'm hoping there is a document somewhere that details if this is the correct place to restore an iTunes library, if so, what files/directories need to be added for restore, etc...
What's the process to restore an iTunes library from a Time Capsule backup?

    Please do not double-post.
