Itunes removes all music from iphone during sync

Every other time I connect my iPhone to my computer the sync with iTunes causes the iPhone to lose all music. I only sync one playlist ("On-the-go") which contains all the albums I want on my phone and for my purposes is sufficient. I do not use iTunes Match (not even subscribed), only use iCloud for "Find My iPhone" and have very few "purchased" items as part of the playlist. All other purchases have been moved off the iPhone. In iTunes "Sync only checked songs and videos" is checked. When I discover that the music is gone I can see in the Music pane of iTunes that none of the playlists are now checked. This is something that iTunes is doing by itself, I always leave one playlist checked. I'm getting a bit fed up of this - its been going on for several weeks now and takes far too long to copy the music back and then re-set alarms and other apps that use the music.
Any constructive suggestions would be gratefully received.

I fixed this problem by dumping iTunes altogether and going with Amazon Cloud player app on the iPhone. Much better experience than iTunes and iTunes Match.

Then when I try to resync the still checked songs back to the iPhone, it quickly finishes the sync with no errors - but no songs are copied back to the iPhone. If I set iTunes to manually sync - same thing. No errors. The only way to get the songs to sync again is to do a complete restore of the iPhone (which I've now done twice in two weeks). If you use iTunes, connect the device to the computer, select the iPhone, go to the Music tab, remove the checkmark from that and sync. You will see a warning about removing music and then click OK. I know that works very well, I just did it on my phone and then synced my music back, I was having a little problem with album artwork. One minute everything was gone, and a few minutes later, I synced everything back.

Ipod 5 wasn't updating new playlists. Removed all music from iPod and ended up with 34 GB of OTHER. How do I remove this without doing a full restore?

iPod 5 was not adding new playlists when synching (plenty of space remained in memory for it). This happened around the time of the new update. I removed all music from the iPod and when I went to resync the selected playlists, my OTHER portion of memory jumped up to 34GB and now there is not enough space on the iPod to put all my music back on.
I've checked the usage of all the apps and photos, etc, it is pretty clear this is because of the music portion only.
Is there anyway of removing this information? Without doing a restore? It is not jailbroken either.

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

Change how it syncs by enabling Manually manage music and videos, then you can drag and drop the music that you want on your iPhone. Revert it back to test to see if that resolves the issue.

ITunes deletes all music from CDs from my iPhone

I recently purchased a new iPhone 6. I transferred all my apps, photos, music etc to the new phone and everything appeared fine. However every time I sync the phone with iTunes all of my music that was not purchased through iTunes (e.g. CDs that I imported into iTunes) gets deleted from my phone. However it does not show up as deleted until I try to play it, at which point my phone skips through all the songs showing a red square next to them. I have iTunes set up to sync my entire music library. The only way I know how to get all the songs back is to delete all music from the phone each time I sync with iTunes and let iTunes copy everything back to my phone (and avoid syncing with my PC unless I really have to). Once re-synced everything is fine until I sync the phone with iTunes again at which point all my music other than iTunes purchases are removed from my phone.

I have had the same problem for two months and have tried many different suggestions with no luck. Have you been given any answers from apple?

Synching ringtones erases all music from iPhone?

I know how to make ringtones, but when I click the "snych" button on the ringtones tab for my phone in iTunes, it warns me that synching ringtones will remove all music and video from the iPhone. I tried it anyway, and it did remove everything else that I had syched previously. Why would this happen and how can you avoid it?

Well, it makes absolutely no sense, but I discovered that I can synch ringtones by dragging and dropping from the ringtones section of the library to the iPhone when it's connected to the laptop. It seems dumb to have everything else erased from the iPhone if ringtones are synched from the iTunes screen, but synching ringtones (and other content in the library) with drag-and-drop works fine so I'll just do that from now on...

Songs won't play after I deleted all music from iPhone once

I'm using iTunes Match on my iPhone and think it's cool but I have a problem: When I used iTunes Match for some time, it had downloaded lost of music to the phone and the phones drive was full. I then deleted all music from the phone (via Settings -> General -> Usage). The problem is that the songs still appear as being on the phone but I can't play them anymore. Also I cannot download them from the cloud again as they appear as still being on the device.
Has anyone experienced that as well?

What kind of network are you one when you try to download the songs again? Wi Fi or 3G? From your description it sounds like 3G, and by default being able to download over those networks is disabled. To enable it go to Settings > Store and set "use cellular data" to ON.
Also, even though you delete the actual files from your iPhone you will see the track as being available. All tracks not stored locally on your iDevice will have a cloud icon next to them. To see just the tracks that are stored locally go to Settings > Music and set "show all music" to OFF.

ITunes deletes all music from my iPhone 6 when I sync

Just now when I tried to add some new music to my Iphone 6 (iOS 8.1.3) the songs appeared greyed out, but won't actually copy. When I hit the Sync button, steps 1-5 happened in a matter of seconds and then all the music (about 100gb) went offline - showing the ! next to each track. Further Sync attempts did the same super-fast 1-5 steps without actually doing anything.
This is not the first time this has happened, and it takes over an hour to copy all the files back to my phone. Please help!

You’ll have have change the Sync Music settings in iTunes, to delete the music from your iPhone and stop it from being synced back on to it when you connect it to your MacBook, as shown in the article linked below.

Email accounts get removed from iPhone during syncs

I'm having a recurring problem of certain email accounts getting deleted from my iPhone during a sync. I have about 5, all of which are AOL IMAP email accounts. I can use the advanced syncing feature to reload the accounts to the iPhone, and I believe that sometimes the sync works fine, but I often am surprised to find random email accounts not on my iPhone after a sync.

Happened after installing Itunes update. I synced my iphone with only computer I ever use and when I clicked on music on iphone it shows "no content". However, when I connect iphone to computer it shows that I have used all but 3.5gb on my 32gb iphone!!!! All of the content used is showing as audio. So what do I do?

Everytime i try to sync my ipod touch, it removes all music from my iPod. How to fix it?

I got itunes to put my all my songs one time, but it took me a 2 and a half hours of connecting and disconnecting my iPod touch till all 7,000 songs were on it. It only puts on between 50 to 200 songs every time reconnected it. I had to keep re-syncing my iPod and every now and again it would remove all the songs and I'd have to start again. But recently I added some songs to my iTunes on my computer and wanted to see if I could put them on my iPod, and it removed all my songs again. And whatever i did last time that worked, won't work this time.
This seems like a common enough problem that I see people complaining about on these forums, but not enough for common enough for apple to do anything about it. I have had this problem since day one of getting my iPod(about 8 months ago), and I have run diagnostics on it, connected it to different iTunes, and still get the same problem over and over again. And Apple just tells me it is a problem with my computer. Even though I have tried it with multiple computers, completely reset my iPod, and everything else I could think of.
i have seriously tried everything under the sun. it will show up in itunes as having all the music on the ipod touch, then when the sync is complete it removes them again. it will only put 63 songs (if any) on my ipod of 7000 songs, and yes i have plenty of room. its a 64 gig ipod. i haven't been able to use my ipod for anything other than apps for the past six months because of this. i bought the thing so i could listen to my music everywhere, not be frustrated by yet another shortcoming of itunes and comparability with its own company's devices....

i'm sure there are other things but this is just what i've tried in the past few weeks.
it would just be nice to use this ipod as more than an expensive paperweight....

Transfer from 2G to 3G removed all music from iTunes library

When I got my used 3G iPhone today, the AT&T store told me to plug it into my laptop (dell, windows xp) and it will sync and that is all I need to do.
Well, I didn't sync or back up the 2G, I just put the new one in and that synched and backed up all right, but iTunes now has nothing in my Music or Apps.
After several sync and backups, still no iTunes music. I have all my music on 2G and on iPod.
Took computer to the AT&T store and we couldn't locate a backup that has my music since I tried so many times already today. My backup is in C:\Data\My Music\iTunes and has 1 song not 417.
How do I get the music from my 2G or iPod back into iTunes in order to add/sync it to my new 3G?

You guys...iTunes is such a DRM freak, if your trying to use it for the music you pirated from Ubekastanian websites dont even bother, it will delete it. Unless you purchased it off of iTunes, iTunes itself won't help you. What you need to do is google Show Hidden Files mac/windows and make your iPod or iPhone show those F00, F01, etc files. Just copy all of those files onto your desktop or your Music file, and then import it all into iTunes. If you want to organize it, you can sort through it yourself, although if your iPod has as much music as mine it will be a job.
Next time, back up the iPhone. I use this system when Im trying to get music I got from used iPods on to my iTunes library.
If you have a Linux machine, usually Ubuntu, Fedora, or some other form of Debian, then go into the iPod files and copy them all on to your desktop and back onto the iPod. Linux deletes all forms of DRM--its REALLY nice.

I upgraded to a iphone 5 and transferred my music to my new phone. Apparently what i think is happening is that my purchased music is automatically downloading to my iphone and I do not want this. I have the same problem. I have 21 songs that cannot be deleted. I have tried to delete them from my phone using itunes. I have deleted them from my itunes library completely and when I sync the phone they just keep coming back. The phone shows the cloud symbol to the right of the song title. When you touch the symbol a circle with a square in the centre represents loading the song. When that is complete I try to swipe form right to left and a delete button appears. Great! but when you touch it the song remains and the cloud symbol has returned. I have even tried a master reset on my phone to no avail. I do not have itunes Match and when I log into the cloud there is no where I can see where these songs are stored. My fifteen year old daughter has spent 4 hrs trying to figure this out and she gave up! HELP PLEASE! The songs are an album my daughter purchased from the itunes store using my ID and although she loves them on her ipod I can't stand them and can't get them off my phone. I don't even know how they got there in the first place. Arrrrgh!
