ITunes reopening itself after I closed it.

I clicked the red X button to exit iTunes, but after a few seconds, itunes will automatically reopen itself once again.
Any help to solve this issue will be appreciated =D
EDIT: Just tried ending the itunes*32.exe process.. it managed to solve the issue. but are there other easier methods to solve this ?

is your ipod connected? if it is, i noticed it will reopen non stop for me. other reasons ive found for reopening are things like the dell dock or object dock. basically any program that uses itunes can make it open randomly. its pretty lame. just look at everything that uses it and eliminate them one by one till you find it. (i disconnected my printer and it worked...no i dea how that has anything to do with itunes but you know what whatever works lol)

  • ITunes reopens itself after closing

    Greetings,
Since version 5 I and many others whom I know cannot close iTunes. It closes then immediately re-opens itself. Even using Task Manager to close it, it simply re-opens itself again, and in the end the only way to close iTunes is to re-boot the computer.
I have sent Apple about 50 emails with regard to this problem, as have many other people I know, but none of us has ever received a reply.
I believe this is a common problem.
I have managed to ascertain that the first opening of iTunes uses the path C:\Programs\iTunes, but that all automatic re-openings thereafter carry a suffix: C:\Programs\iTunes\ -embedding.
I have disabled all my security software and the problem persists.
Please does anybody know how to resolve this problem?
    Thank you,
    nippauls

    PROBLEM RESOLVED!
Here is what I did and it has fixed the issue of iTunes continually re-opening itself after closing with reference to DCOM and embedding.
I disabled DrWatson by editing the following registry key from 1 to 0:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug = 0
I disabled DCOM by editing the following registry key from Y to N:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OLE\EnableDCOM = N
    Then I restarted the computer.
Then, using Control Panel, I removed iTunes and restarted.
Then I went to C:\Programs and deleted EVERY folder relating to iTunes and iPod. If a folder refuses to be deleted, open Task Manager and terminate the relevant iPod process then it will be possible to delete the folder.
I then cleared my Prefetch folder, temp folder, and then recycle bin.
I restarted the computer, and re-installed iTunes.
    PROBLEM RESOLVED
Hope this helps other users with similar problems.

  • ITunes relaunches itself after closing (Windows 7)

Yesterday was all OK, but today after I closed iTunes is restarted itself. Nothing was changed with the system since yesterday. I've found a couple of topics with the same problem, but they're both about MacOS. I have this problem on Windows 7.

I'm going to ask the hosts to move this to the windows part of the iTunes part of this forum. YOu'll stand a better chance to get an answer there than you will here.

  • ITunes reopens immediately after I quit it?

I'm running the most recent update for Apple that is available, Mavericks. iTunes is 11.2.1.
After I've been using my Macbook Air for a little while, iTunes gets weird- it won't let me turn the volume up past like 30%, and when I try to quit it (and command-option-escape) it reopens right away.
I have no idea what to do.
If I restart my computer the problem goes away for a while, but it's always back.
Any help at ALL would be really appreciated.
    Thanks.

A third-party application or widget trying to communicate with iTunes is the likely culprit. (This includes the iTunes Dashboard widget.) Try disabling such items and see if the behavior stops.

  • ITunes reopens automatically after quiting

This problem has been happening through the last few updates. I quit (or even force quit) iTunes, and it reopens automatically. It's a real problem now because it's actually preventing me from shutting down my Mac. I have no programs running with it except for TuneUp, but iTunes will automatically restart even with TuneUp disabled. Please help me.

I have the same problem over here, it is really annoying because i cant even shut down my mac,
i had to force shutdown on the button twice, because of this problem.
Does anyone else has this problem ?

  • Itunes keeps reopens by itself after i close it on xp

Has anyone out there been able to figure out why and how to stop itunes from reopening itself after you close it on windows XP. This is an xp ? so please don't post mac os answers. From what I read and heard from support, no-one at apple knows why this is happening. I used itunes to legaly buy and download music. I do own an ipod and therefore don't connect one to my computer. I have a feeling it has to do with the ipodservice and or the itunes helper service that seem to ignore the fact that I have disabled them in services.msc. But nothing works. I will listen to some music via itunes, download some from the store, etc.. When I am done I will try file/exit, or closing via the x in the top right corner. Then suddenly the software reopens... I dont want to have to stop using itunes, but I can not get a fix for this I may just have to switch over to rhapsody via windows media player. Appkle tech support said they couldnt help me and didnt know why it works. Thats sad cause I spend a lot of money on intunes and if they dont care about me, then i can only assume they will treat me the same if I bought one of thier computers. Looks like they lose a customer here..... Any insights would much be appreciated. Links from previous post anything that might help me fix this issue that apple says too bad your a pc user.

I'm having the exact same problem in Windows Vista. It has only happened since the last update to iTunes; it didn't happen before that. It happens ever five minute or so and is making me insane. Of course, I can't delete iTunes, since that's where my iPod library resides. Somebody MUST do something about this. Can anyone help?

  • HT1657 i recently rented a movie from the itunes store in hd and closed itunes on accident and after reopening itunes i cannot find my movie rental. ive searched in my  library, movies, etc. and i cannot find it anywhere

i rented a movie from the itunes store in hd and closed itunes on accident after letting it download and after reopening itunes i am un able find my movie rental. ive searched in my  library, movies, etc. and i cannot find it anywhere. i did start it... but i have atleast another 20 hours to watch it before the rental expires.

Doublechecking. Did you download the rental in iTunes for Mac, iTunes for Windows, or an iOS device?

  • ITunes 10.5.3 restarts itself after closing the program. How do I fix this?

iTunes 10.5.3 restarts itself after closing the program. How do I fix this?
    Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
    iTunes 10.5.3 64bit

I've had this problem on my Windows XP for years. it's been around, unsolved, or no solutions in these forums.
It keeps reminding me why Apple will never be the primary office computer company. Anyone running a business cannot have software running that will not behave, won't shut down, or behaves without any explanation, and this problem has no explanation, or solution that I can find except to use task manager to kill the process and only use iTunes when I'm expecting to shut down or kill the process.

  • After quitting itunes reopens... what the..

err.. yes indeed.. its true, after quitting itunes it reopens itself a few seconds later.. oh it was fine til i upgraded it to 7.7 this morning.. please advise

Try deleting the iTunes preferences file. Quit iTunes. Go to User Name>Library>Preferences. Find the file com.apple.iTunes.plist and trash it. Open iTunes again and it will look like you're opening it for the first time. Also if you use the iTunes widget or any widget that has to do with iTunes, close it.

  • Itunes not opening after closing

I installed iTunes 6 and after the installing and agreements and all that stuff, it was open. I was glad cuz I had to go through some steps first to get it to even show up. Everyone is having problems with this and personally it's starting to **** me off. So after getting it open FINALLY, I closed it cuz the music store was not working, it just showed that little bar but never went to the store. So now that I've closed it, it won't open again. What's wrong with it now?

OK so at some point you got the "iTunes has experienced an error and needs to close. Do you want to send the error to Microsoft?" error. follow the instructions at the link below to repair iTunes and uninstall quicktime. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302372,
If this does not work, your library may have becomed corruppt or you may have to do the stand alone install of quicktime.
Just post back and tell us if this fixes your problem or not

  • Front Panel objects do not stay in place after saving, closing, and reopening the VI.

I have been working with a couple of versions of a main VI. The original VI was given to me so that I could add additional functionalities to it. I had been designing the front panel of the latest version of the VI on a Dell laptop running Windows 7 and LabView 2011 SP1 using a monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080. My booleans, numerics, and plots on the front panel had always stayed in place after saving, closing, and reopening the VI. Once in the field, I connected my laptop to a cRIO9073 and used my laptop screen with a resolution of 1366x768 to operate the VI. I made some changes to the VI, saved it, and reopened it. This time I noticed that the front panel objects had become overlapped, resized, and generally rearranged. I tried fixing the objects but I noticed that they reverted back to the incorrect positions after saving and reopening the VI. I was successful in keeping the objects in position a couple of times, but when I would open the VI at a later time, the objects were again rearranged. This is happening on both my monitor and laptop screen. The original version of the VI, however, does not behave this way and I have opened it on both my monitor and laptop screen. In this version, the front panel objects always stay in place. Both VI's have the same window size properties. Could I have corrupted the latest version of my VI somehow? Below are screenshots of the front panels of both VI's.

    Hi Miguel,
It is possible to programmatically set or change the position of front panel objects. (for example: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4D0DA06B43195B3F862572F3000AF2D3?OpenDocument) However, if you haven’t intentionally done that, it seems unlikely that it is the problem.
Have you tried copying the entire block diagram in to a new VI to see if the problem persists? While it is unlikely, you are right that it is possible for VIs to become corrupted. I’ve never heard of a situation like this except in the situation where the settings Tom had you check have been changed. Here is some information about those settings:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7567EF257B9CFDF986256F630073228F?OpenDocument
Since there was no rearrangement when you copied the front panel to a new VI, you might try copying the block diagram a little bit at a time to see if there is some particular part of it that creates the problem somehow.
