ITunes reports wrong capacity

I have 69 MP3 songs in my library. Average size is 4 Mbytes. (Confirmed).
ITunes reports 69 songs, 4.2 hours, 1,014 Mbytes.
That's about four times my actual usage.
I have no photos or other material stored in iTunes or on my iPod nano.
Anyone have an explanation? Or how to resolve the problem?
TIA

I have a 40gig Ipod and when i connect to my computer at work, which has itunes ver 7, it sees my ipod as having 110 gig capacity and is unable to see any songs.
with those symptoms, it's also worth checking on the possibility from the following troubleshooting document:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • ITunes 10 (64bit on Windows 7) reporting wrong capacity

After upgrading to iTunes 10 64-bit, the reported storage of Video and therefore also the amount of free storage is incorrect.
it seems that a bunch of video files are 'missed' somehow.
    Did anyone encounter this behavior?

    Many thanks.
That's consistent with an application (other than QuickTime itself) having dropped old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • ITunes reporting wrong free space on iPhone 4S

On Friday, I signed up for iTunes Match.  Let it do it's thing, and on Saturday afternoon, it completed.  I went through and removed all the old m4p files I could, replaced with m4a, and downloaded 256k aac replacements for old files in my library for artists A-C last night.   That all went good on my computer.
However, when I went to sync my phone last night, my space available is being reported incorrectly by iTunes (10.51 on Win7).  It initially told me I was over usage, which was a lie.  When I started this, it was roughly 5.5Gb free or so (forget exact space at the moment).  When I went to sync, iTunes instantly jumped to over.  I manually removed a few playlists to bring the reporting under, but it still has the problem.
As of right now, iTunes is saying there is 1.32Gb free on the iPhone.  The phone itself is reporting 5.1Gb free, which is about what it should be.
I switched my iPad over to using iTunes Match, and it's usage is the same (although I haven't synced it yet).  But I didn't want to do this on the phone until I resolved this reporting problem.  Things i've tried already:
    1) Unchecking, then checking again the "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected".  I read around these forums, and found from some people that helps.  It didn't for me.
    2) Restore on the iPhone.  Didn't work.
    3) Unchecking sync music, sync the phone to remove it all, then recheck, and resync to put the music back.  No difference.  Same misreported space.
    4) Swearing at it.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know.  Tkx.

Interesting.  I just now plugged the phone in again after ejecting it, and..
It initially showed the proper 5.1Gb free that the phone itself is reporting.  But about two seconds after that, it jumped up to the incorrect 1.32Gb free.
The sync finished, and it went back down to the proper 5.1Gb free.  I have no bloody idea what the deal here is.  Something bizarre happened, and then it just as equally weirdly went away.

  • ITunes is reporting over capacity when I try and synch my iphone5.

iTunes is reporting over capacity when I try and sync my iphone5. The last time I did this I had 3GB free, so I know I have space. Interestingly, the only songs my iphone is reporting to have on it is the 11 U2 songs Apple gave me. I rebooted laptop [WIndows] and my phone.

    Thank you.
None of the initial steps worked so I did a restore. Now my problem is it tells me my password is incorrect when I try the restore. I KNOW what my password is and yet it tells me it's wrong. My password to unlock the phone is the same as my iTunes password, so what other password could it be? Or is there some other issue. Very frustrating.

  • ITunes recognizes wrong Ipod, displays capacity as 4mb

    Hi
I have a 2 gig Nano, All of a sudden, Itunes reads its capacity as 4 MB instead of 2 GB.. Im not able to put it any songs, and Itunes also displays weird statistics.
Ive tried resetting, restoring, reinstalling.. all to no avail. Please help! Here are pictures of whats actually happening:

Startng wth the iPhone and iPod Touch,  Apple stopped supportng "disc mode" (and that's why your iPod Touch isn't "Aplle format" or "Windows format").  You access the musc, apps, calendars, etc. through iTunes, and you access the photos through the camera interface.
Windows is not "installing the wrong driver" you are just assuming that the device operates in a way that the newer devices no longer support.  There are some 3rd party aps that will allow you to sync music from your iPod to your PC, but I have never used them so I can't tell you how well they work.  I do seem to recall that XPlay2 was one of the names that supposedly supported doing that though...

  • ITunes reports incorrect  free space

Using iTunes 12.0.1.26 with a 64GB iPhone 4S on iOS8.1 I am currently unable to add files to my iPhone through the File Sharing part of the Apps panel.
The bar at the bottom of iTunes reports 25.01GB free, on the phone the General->Usage page reports 2.6GB free (yes 1/10th of that which is reported in iTunes) and thus I cannot copy a 2.7GB file on there. At one point I saw iTunes massively enlarge the Photos potion of that bar. Currently it sits at 13GB but it filled up to the rest of the apparently open space and presumably reported the try number (38.9GB according to the General->Usage->Storage page on the iPhone). However I can't figure out how that happened and why it has returned to showing the wrong number.

I'm having a related problem. I deleted all the photos off my iPhone and synced it (several times now), but iTunes is still saying I have 44 photos on there taking up space. The free space availability changes out of the blue as well, even if I didn't add or delete anything. I'm very close to capacity and have to manage it closely when adding new songs etc, so this is becoming a real pain since I don't know my exact free space.

  • ITunes reports Shuffle with 40GB - Help

I am at a complete loss on this one. After upgrading to iTunes 7.1, my working Shuffle (1st gen) has gone south. iTunes reports it has 30.11GB in use with a capacity of 39.15GB. But this is only a 512MB Shuffle.
I have tried everything I can think of - uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled, downgraded to iTunes 6.0.5, even made sure to remove iPodService, but nothing has help. Although iTunes says it can successfully load songs to my Shuffle, nothing plays, and every time I plug in my Shuffle, iTunes keeps prompting for the Shuffle setup. Searching Google has found nothing and I'm hoping someone here can help me.

actually, all those symptoms are suggesting that you might be having trouble with a windows drive letter confusion. for troubleshooting suggestions on that possibility, see the following document:

  • Vista/iTunes reports iPod corrupt (and Restore does not correct it)

I have a 16GB nano, a Dell laptop running Windows Vista Business Edition, and a home-built PC running Windows XP SP3. On the XP desktop machine, both Windows and iTunes work perfectly fine with the iPod. All is great.
On the Vista laptop, it's a no-go. Windows says there's a disk there, but only offers to format it (as if it's a new, unformatted disk; and if I let it, it reports a failure to format successfully). iTunes reports that it's corrupt and offers to restore it, but after restore process completes, it once again reports the problem and offers to restore it again. Interestingly, this iPod came formatted for Mac, and the restore process did/does successfully convert it to PC format. Only afterward, we're back to the usual error message.
I'm not sure if the issue is the laptop (and some funky USB hardware port thing), or if it's Vista (and some funky Vista software thing). Or, is it possible there's really something wrong with my iPod and XP overlooks it?
I've performed the 5 R's, and tried a lot of uninstall/reinstall/update the install with USB devices and drivers, with no change. I'm not really certain how to proceed. My gut tells me the iPod's ok; but I'd like to be sure.
I'd mostly like to verify that: (a) my iPod is really fine - and either - (b) the laptop has a hardware issue - or - (c) Vista has a software issue. If I solve the laptop/Vista issue, that would be icing on the cake (I'm content to use the XP machine for iTunes), but it's not critical as long as I can feel confident the iPod's okay after all.
Let me know if there's anything else I can tell you, or if you have any suggestions.
    Thank you!

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3784647?start=0&tstart=0
If necessary, post the results from the HD test and we'll figure out where to go from there.

  • ITunes reports 14G of videos on iPod containing no videos

Basically I was having "issue" with my 5G 80G iPod - in that it was reporting 477 videos under the About Menu, so I did a full reset and restore.
Even thou I had iTunes set to copy no video content whatsoever - no podcast, no music video, no TV & no Movies I still have 477 videos listed under "About" on the iPod and iTunes reports that I'm currently using up 14.8G of space for video. Looking on the iPod or iTunes shows no videos at all.
I would have figured that a complete restore (which takes several hours for an 80G) would have fixed this problem, but apparently not.
Every time I sync I also get error messages about videos that "cannot be played" even though I'm not trying to sync any videos.
Does anybody know how to fix this? Or even what's going on?

OK - there is definitely video crud on this (relatively new) iPod - I opened up Terminal and and a quick look randomly found a Rocketboom episode from November 2006 (remember that this is a freshly restored iPod!) - so I'm now wondering exactly how long this is been screwy for?
Um. How do I fix this? What's more drastic than a restore? (Disk Utility?)

  • ITunes videos (wrongly) too big to transfer to iPod or iPhone

When I attempt to sync videos (movies or TV shows downloaded from iTunes Store), iTunes reports that the transfer cannot be completed because there is not enough room on the destination device. Regardless of which videos I select, or how many I select, iTunes says they amount to 19.2 GB when, in fact, my selections are always less than 5GB. I have plenty of room on both the devices I've attempted to transfer to (iPod and iPhone), and have restored both of them to try to fix the problem, so I'm guessing it's a problem with iTunes. Am running iTunes 9.0.3 on OS 10.6.2. The problem only occurs when I attempt to transfer videos, not photos, apps, music, etc.

  • Proj Server 2010 Dashboard Designer Not Reporting Future Capacity

With information from Project Server 2010 (PWA) and using Dashboard Designer I’ve designed a time-phased report (by month) to show past effort (Measure - Actual Regular Work) against capacity (Measure – Capacity) which displays accurate information.
I’ve designed a similar report to show future planned work (Measure – Remaining Work) against capacity (Measure – Capacity).
Planned work reports accurately but for some reason this report does not show future capacity.
Resources in the pool have latest available dates.  Can someone please tell me what I need to do to report future capacity in Dashboard Designer?
    Thanks in advance!

Resource Capacity Settings are set to:
    Months behind : 1
    Months ahead: 12
The report uses Portfolio Analyzer Cube.
The OLAP cube builds every 24 hours.  Database date range is “Use the earliest project start date and the latest project finish date”.

  • Add on XL reporter : Wrong executable digital signature for Add on

    Hi Experts,
I have a client who gets this error 'Add on XL reporter : Wrong executable digital signature for Add on' when they try to login. They are on 2007A PL45. This happens on the server as well as on clients. Uninstalll and reinstall of client didn't work.  We had a look at the AddonLocalRegistration folder to see if XL reporter is registered but can't see any.
I have found a similar link in the forum but that says about 2005b.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    regards
    Johnson

    Sir,
Please do the following steps :
    1. Please go to the SBO-COMMON database, find table SARI, you will get
the data entry for your Addon. Please check the value of field
"AddOnChk". This is the digital signature of Addon executable file.
    2. Then go to installer package of the Addon, open the ard file
(XLReporter.ard) with notepad then check the value of "addonsig".
    3. Compare these two values, if they are different, please overwrite
"AddOnChk" field in database with the value of "addonsig" in ard file.
and then try to start the addon again.
    4. If there are the same, the ard file or the executable file has been
corrupted. I would like to suggest you remove the installer package
from your machine, and download a fresh installer of Addon from SAP
Service Marketplace. After that, please follow the steps as per the
attached note ( Note no. 819501 ) to make your machine clean and
    then install the addon again.
    Regards,
