ITunes requesting authorisation to play videos,

Hi,
Recently I have purchased a series pass for Chuck Season 3. The first episodes of Chuck have downloaded, but when I go to view them, it requests that I authorise my computer. My computer has already been authorised, and literally minutes before going to play Chuck I have been playing other music / videos which I purchased through iTunes.
I tried authorising the computer as it requested, but this did not work. It stated that my computer had already been authorised and did not need to be authorised again. After this message box disappeared, it asked me again to authorise my computer. I entered my details again, and this time it went to the video.
After this, I only got a grey screen and no sound coming from the video I was trying to play.
I have attempted several of the guides which have been provided by apple, such as deleting SC files etc
I am now stuck on what to do, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Dave

Ditto. I purchased Invictus BluRay with a Digital Copy. The Digital Copy works great on my iPad, but I get the same sort of authorize/already authorized/authorize sequence and no audio and gray video on my Windows PC. Other movies with Digital Copies work fine (Star Trek). Same behavior on iTunes 9 and 10.
I have NOT tried "the guides" the Original poster refers to. Where are they?

  • Upgraded my iTunes now I cannot play videos

Upgraded my iTunes now I cannot play videos.  Getting no help from Apple Support.  Apple should change its name to Microsoft.

Are you getting an "iTunes has stopped working" message when you try to play the videos?
If so, try the following user tip:

  • ITunes Studders/Freezes When Playing Videos

I am using the latest version of iTunes (7.0.1) and Quicktime (7.1.3). The Rocketboom videos that I have subscribed do not play well directly from iTunes. The audio and video frequently stops and starts. The stuttering is so severe that the podcasts are not worth watching. Another video podcast that I am subscribed plays much better with only an occasional stutter.
I played the same two video podcasts in the QuickTime player without any problems. They played perfectly. I could even play 1080i HD videos without problem. Not expecting any difference, I disabled Direct3D acceleration from the QuickTime control panel. Rocketboom plays much better but not perfect.
I am a bit confounded why the video podcasts play better in the QuickTime player over iTunes since I assume that they utilize the same code. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a fix from Apple? Does Apple have a solution? My video card can more than handle direct HW acceleration. DivX, WMV, and MPEG video play great from inside all my players, and I am using DMA on my IDE controller.

I am having the video stuttering problems with playback of downloaded videos from the iTunes store as well in ver. 7.01. Watching videos with quicktime does not solve the problem. Playback of videos in quicktimeIs this a widespread problem? Has anyone found a solution?

  • ITunes requesting authorisation on specific tracks

    Hey guys -
I've had a search around the web for this, but I'm not getting anywhere. My late 2013 MBP won't play specific iTunes tracks, and pops up a "you need to authorise this machine message" when I try to. I enter the username and password, and quickly get a "machine already authorised" message.
    The scenario is this:
    * All my music is generally stored in iTunes Match - normally I don't have a local copy accessible
    * When I realised a track wouldn't play yesterday (Green Day's American Idiot) I decided to download all of my music to my MBP
    * I spent a few hours downloading every track I should have, and by the end I was a couple of thousand tracks short - ie my downloads are missing a couple of thousand that are in the cloud... This may be a different issue though...
    * The specific test track, American Idiot, actually did download, but won't play in iTunes (not authorised message) or VLC (nothing happens when I click play).
    Here's what I've tried:
    * Does it work from another device? Yes - I can play this track from Match on my iPhone and iPad
    * I've tried to deauthorise and reauthorise all machines on my account, but can't since I did it last September when I got the MBP
    * Following some advice from the support site, I deleted my ....../SC Info folder and rebooted
So, it seems the Mac is the only one stuck. That's a problem right now since I'm taking the wife on honeymoon in a couple of weeks, and we won't have access to Match (or the internet mostly, argh!), so I want to throw our library onto my MBP.
    Anyone else come across this?
    Thanks,
    -dave.
PS I saw a question in another post about this - for clarity, this is the only Apple account I have, and I've had for more than 10 years now, so I don't think this is a DRM issue. Actually, on the specific test track, pretty sure that was a CD I imported years ago. Like I said, it's also playing fine from Match on my phone

What you are seeing isn't unusual for a corrupt download.  Delete the file completely from your computer and redownload.

  • ITunes audio problem while playing video.

I have purchased several TV episodes which play just fine in iTunes on my HP Windows 7 laptop. However, on my Dell Windows XP desktop, the same videos lose the audio after a few seconds in iTunes, but the same videos play just fine in Quicktime on the Dell.  Can anyone shed some light on this problem? Why would a video work in Quicktime but not iTunes using the same computer?

    Hello dogsters,
The following article details a number of troubleshooting steps that should help stabilize playback.

  • ITunes still won't play videos or TV downloads

I'm using a Mac and the help articles I've seen are for Windows. I have tried everything suggested in previous posts and done the help given by the Apple tech (download latest Quicktime, etc.) and the movies, TV shows and music videos still don't work. Gray screen with no sound or video, but the progress bar at the top moves. iTunes won't shuffle songs anymore either, and with the last update all my custom saved equalizer settings disappeared. Does anyone have any additional help? [I'm using iTunes 7.6.2, Quicktime 7.5]
    Thanks,
    Mike

If this ever happens to you check to see if you or a friend has added a few video viewing programs to your hard drive. My son-in-law copied some programs from his laptop to my iMac in order to be able to view most any type video format that I might encounter. Turns out that some of them were causing the interference that kept iTunes from playing videos, movies or TV shows.

  • ITunes for windows stopped - playing videos

    This is driving me nuts
Windows 7 Pro 64Bit system with 16GB of memory on a Core i7
Have not seen problems like this much in the past.
Have uninstalled quicktime and iTunes then reinstalled, to no change - the only one that's been fairly consistent is if I perform the 'repair' on Bonjour app
I downloaded both of the programs from the internet first - so latest and greatest version
I went through changing the settings on QuickTime as some have suggested as well as deleting the \users\appData\itunes folders for both user and roaming
The last thing i see is 'connecting to apple store' - then it crashes with just that message and no detail.
I even tried moving ALL the .DLL files to the one program files folder as mentioned elsewhere.

    Hello Appropriator,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article outlines further suggestions for troubleshooting video playback. While you have already completed one of the steps, there are a few more that you can try:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 video playback performance issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1718
    Additional Information
Some customers using computers containing NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA (SATA) controllers may experience unexpected behavior when playing videos in iTunes on Windows from a SATA hard drive. iTunes may unexpectedly quit or become unresponsive or the computer may unexpectedly reboot or show a blue screen. Standard IDE hard disks are unaffected by this issue. If your computer contains a standard IDE hard disk, you can copy your video files to that disk and play those copies of the files in iTunes or QuickTime Player.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Why do I need to be connected to itunes to authorize and play videos I already downloaded?

I downloaded some episodes of Sherlock but I have to be connected to the internet to authorize my account to play it every time. Isn't the point of downloading it so you don't have to be connected to the internet?

Maybe it has not completed download. Try connecting to the internet first to confirm. Follow these steps:
    1. Open iTunes. From the Store menu at the top, choose Check for Available Downloads.
    2. Enter your account name and password when prompted, then click the Check button. Your purchase should begin downloading.
    Hope this helps.
