ITunes requires I authorize a previously authorized computer

After updating from iTunes 12.0 to 12.1, whenever I try to stream an episode of a TV show I've previously acquired in the iTunes Store, iTunes requires that I authorize the computer I'm using in order to watch the TV show.
I already authorized the computer in the past, but despite that, went ahead and authorized the computer again by going into the Store menu and selecting "Authorize This Computer". Then the popup that appeared said that I now had 2 out of my 5 computers authorized, which is false: it's the same computer. So instead of just re-acknowledging this computer, it added it again, ignoring that it was already authorized.
This wouldn't be so bad if iTunes didn't do this more than once. Because I reached 5 out of 5 computers, I've had to use the "Deauthorize All" function to allow me to re-authorize my current computer. Now I can't even use the "Deauthorize All" function anymore because I'm only allowed to use it once a year.
How can I make iTunes stop asking to authorize my computer?

As of now you don't have to. You're done authorizing any more.

  • Deauthorizing all 5 iTunes accounts w/out having a authorized computer??

I'm stuck and I got rid of all my other computers without deauthorizing them.
Does anybody know how to deauthorize all 5 of the other computers without having an authorized computer??

You can't deauthorise 'dead' installations or computers you no longer have access to individually. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes account and start over. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
To deauthorise all computers associated with your account:
    1. Click iTunes Store in the Source pane.
    2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
    3. Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
    4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

  • Authorize an already authorized computer.

Each time I attach my iPhone to my PC to sync with iTumes I am asked to authorize my computer. It has been authorized many times and when I try to do as I'm asked I usually get told "The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." It's past being a joke. When I do finally get to the mythical store I'm told my computer is already authorized. Does anyone have a solution?

Delete the song from your Itunes music list, then redownload it, Itunes will ask you if you if you want to download it for free.  This seems to be the fix for my problems.

Deauthorizing won't delete anything, and all your purchased content is safe.  You will just have to reauthorize any of the other computers that get deauthorized along with your computers old machine id.
To get your purchased content back on that computer, just use iTunes to redownload it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US).  Of course, music you ripped from CD or got from another source you'll need to copy those files back over.

  • What can I do simply  to keep all my previous contents, (own pics, videos, etc.) on my previously authorized iPad on PC, but get a new authorisation and a right syncronization, without data loss with a new  iTunes on my new Mac?

    Friends,
I already had an iPad(1) and its full contents (not only the purchased items, applications from Apple, but my all own pics, videos, songs etc.) is normally syncronized with an authorized PC (Windows) computer.
Now,  I've bought a new MacBook Air computer, and want to sell my PC. But I don't know how to transfer (or syncronize) all of the contents from my previous iTunes on PC to the new one on the Mac.
When I connected my iPad to my new MacBook Air, I promted, if I want to change authorization of my iPad to the MacBook.
But also got a warning, that the new iTunes will delete from my iPad all my previously syncronized items, pics, videos and music, with the previously authorized  iTunes on the previous computer, expect the saved pics from the net.
What can I do just like that, simply  to keep all my previous contents on my iPad, but have a new authorisation and a right syncronization, without data loss with the new  iTunes on my new Mac?
Thanks a lot for your answer.

Here are some instructions that I have posted several times that may be helpful to you as they have been to others. You can simply ignore anything that does not apply or that you have already done.
As Alan stated above - transferring the iTunes library is the best first step. If you can transfer the iTunes library to the Mac, most of this will be unecessary for you to do.
    Very Important ....
    1. Authorize the computer.
    2. Turn off auto sync in iTunes
    3. Transfer purchases
The text in italics is from the other thread - non italics are my words.
The following was copied from this thread. This is essentially what you want to accomplish.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your new computer, start iTunes. Click on iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your computer and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your computer, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
Read this thread and the support links as well. There are apps that you can purchase that will allow you to transfer photos from the iPad to your computer. Look at Photo Transfer App in the App store and you can search for others as well.

One final note - you may want to leave auto sync turned off - but that is totally up to you. I never did use auto sync.

  • Does anybody know to authorize a windows vista computer with the new itunes?

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

If I try to sync --I  get the message that ipod can be synced w only one computer and if I sync with this library (which only shows new purchases from itunes)   it will replace everything that is currently on ipod

Why can't the songs be transferred to the device?  Is it because they are not authorized?  Were these 25 tracks purchased/downloaded with the same account you have used to authorize the PC/new iTunes library?
