ITunes Requires Safari 4.0.3

Hi -
When I try to go to iTunes store in iTunes 9, I get a message that says:
iTunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or later to be installed to use the iTunes Store within iTunes. Use Software Update to download and install the latest version of Safari.
I tried to follow the directions, and Software Update says that there is no software to be installed. When I checked my Safari version, it says 4.0.3. Why is this happening? Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hmm…more data points. If I access my private iTunes U site (I am my school's iTunes U admin), I can get access to "iTunes U in the iTunes Store" by clicking on the "iTunes U" button in the new segmented control/tab bar (where the breadcrumbs bar used to be). So, again, it appears as though iTunes U (private, public and iTunes U in the iTunes Store) does not yet participate in the new store's setup. Again this makes me think that the new store sends some kind of client-side script (JavaScript?) that checks my Safari version and that that code does not correctly determine that I'm good-to-go?
Just thinking out loud.

How do I block this msg from always popping up "iTunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or later to be installed to use the iTunes Store within iTunes. • 'iTunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or later to use the iTunes store within iTunes'

    In iTunes 10.5 on my Mac OS X 10.5.2, this message keeps popping up;
"'iTunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or later to use the iTunes store within iTunes"
This pops up every 5 or so seconds, so its really annoying if im trying to listen to music. There is no 'don't show this message again' option so its really getting on my nerves! The only way to get update Safari is though a software update and I am scared that if I do a software update, my Mac could crash again, like it did the last time and I had to spend €130 to get it fixed!
    My question is:
    1) should I do a software update and
    2) how can I stop this message apart from updating?
    Thanks in advance,

<p style="padding: 0pt; margin: 0pt;" mcestyle="padding: 0pt; margin: 0pt;">iTunes requires safari 4.0.3 or later to be installed to use the iTunes store within iTunes.  That is the message I get.  I just had Leopard 10.5.6 installed ( at the mac store while getting optical drive repair ).  After being prompted by the software updater several times, I got around to doing the updating today.  iTunes 10.2.2 was installed.  Now I keep getting this message when I try to go into the store.  The problem is the 4.0.3 requires Leopard 10.5.7.  I can't upgrade higher than 10.5.6 at this time due to use of some hardware that only works with up to OS 10.5.6.  I can't believe this can be true that one would be locked out of the iTunes store unless using a specific version of safari.  Please tell me this is a mistake and there is a way around this.  Thanks in advance for help...

  • ITunes requires Safari 4.0.3 message box

    Hi !!
I usually got this message box after I open iTunes 10.1.1
"itunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or later to be installed to use the i Tunes store. Within iTunes.
Use de software update and bla bla bla..." And I've opened the software update and I doesn't solve the problem...
Well I got Safari 4.0.3 installed already
I've uninstalled iTunes and installed it again, and the message from iTunes persists.
I've downloaded safari 5.0.3 Snow Leopard, I was trying to install it and a message pops up
saying that I can't install Safari on this machine.
Do got something in mind ?
    Thanks!!

i'm having the same problem...  OS 10.5.6 and iTunes 10.2.2  1) I'm mad that this is happening.  Seems really silly ( putting it nicely ).  2)  I'm more angry that there are no answers here..  So we upgrade and are now locked out of the iTunes store?  I can't use safari 4.0.3 because that requires OS 10.5.7.  I can't upgrade to that just yet as I would have to spend $ on updating hardware I'm using that only works with up to OS 10.5.6.   Are there yet any answers out there?

  • ITunes Requires Safari 4.0.3 to Access Store: Help??

I have had a recent problem with the iTunes store after updating to iTunes 9.1 and Safari 4.0.5 (from 3.2.something). Though I am sure I updated Safari, I get a recurrent message that I need to update Safari to at least 4.0.3, but I already have done this!! I heard a new version of webkit may be to blame, and have tried to reinstall both applications, but it says "this volume does not meet the requirements from installation". I am afraid to totally delete iTunes or Safari for fear that I'll never be able to get it back. Any input is appreciated.

You can download Safari again and install it. You don't need to delete anything.
    Get it here: http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
Be sure to choose the Tiger version:
You'll also need Security update 2009-002 or higher.
The Intel version is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL817
The PPC version is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL818
Lastly, you need cookies enabled in Safari, at least for sites you visit. You can set that in Safari > Preferences > Security as shown here:

I have read many articles on how to fix this, however now I am stumped because I have updated all my software and yet it still gives me the message.
    Any suggestions?

I dunno.  If it was me, I'd download and install both programs again.  This won't affect your data.

Recently upgraded Mac OS to 10.5.5 - have an older G4 which is max'd out upgrade-wise - both processor and OS. At present Safari is 3.1.2. Itunes is 9.2.1. Itunes will not allow me to connect to store - says it requires Safari 4.0.3 - however, when I try to download Safari 4.0.3 or newer it says it requires an older version of the OS. What to do?

    Update v10.5.5 to v10.5.8
Download and install the  combo >  Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update
    Then restart your Mac.
That should update Safari for you to 5.0.6 and that should help with iTunes.
If necessary, after updating to v10.5.8, you can use the standalone Safari installer here >  Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard

  • ITunes 9.0 requires Safari 4.0.3 to use the App Store

I just upgraded to iTunes 9.0 and get this error message:
"iTunes 9.0 requires Safari 4.0.3 to be installed to use the iTunes Store. Use Software Update...."
I already have Safari 4.0.3 installed so no updates are available. I'm running Snow Leopard. Word on the street is this has something to do with WebKit but I'm not sure.

  • I want to put music on my iPhone 4, but am not able to because I can not download the version of iTunes required because my mac computer is too old.

Am just having troubles in adding music to my new phone in that when I connect it to my computer it says that the phone requires the new version of iTunes being 10.5, but when I go to download this for my mac computer it says that this version of iTunes requires a different mac, meaning that my computer is too old.  So I am just wondering how I can get music onto my phone?!

You will have to upgrade your operating system version and possibly your whole computer.  We cannot provide more information easily until we know more about your system.
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
Apple does tell you about required equipment for the iPhone -- in 8 point medium gray type on a light gray box.   The Store associates kind of automatically assume everybody is running a new model computer and the one I met when we bought our iPhone had never seen a pre-2008 Mac and was somewhat puzzled why anybody would own such an antique.

  • Updated iTunes - Requires QT Update - I'm S.O.L. Catch 22

    Hello,
I just updated my iTunes software, and it told me I had to update the QuickTIme to run it as well.
I tried to update my QuickTime and it tells me I can't update it with my OS.
Now my iTunes will not work at all. What can I do?

    Hi, thanks for the response.
Yes, I am running that machine with that software.
When I try to run iTunes, this is the response I get:
iTunes requires QuickTime 7.3.1 or later. For more information on upgrading your computer, visit http://www.apple.com/quicktime
When I select my HD to install the latest quicktime, and this is the response I get:
You cannot install QuickTime on this volume. This software requires MacOS X version 10.5
    I'm somewhat stumped.

  • Why does iTunes and Safari reset data everytime its closed

I have a power mac G5 and after I updated to the highest software update available, I find that iTunes and Safari reset their data everytime I close them. I have checked all settings and tried resetting to regular software and trying again. Any ideas?

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • As of the Yosemite upgrade, I can't watch movies or tv shows using iTunes or Safari.

As of Yosemite upgrade, I can't watch any movies or tv shows using iTunes or Safari.  I have not previously had this problem before, and I have not changed anything with the monitor.  Here is what I get...  (This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP)  However, I can still watch Netflix using Firefox and Google Chrome browsers, but not with Safari.   (Using a Mini Mac with an LG Monitor Display)  Using HDMI to DVI Apple adapter.  I also tried a straight HDMI cable connection, which made no difference. My Apple TV plays just fine on this monitor.  LG Monitor Model #DM2350D

Never mind i guess. The iTunes parental controls changed randomly to restricted certain ratings even though i've never touched those in my life. fix your **** apple.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • ITunes and Safari access problems

    Running 10.3.9 with Safari 1.3.2
Suddenly I am having problems with iTunes and Safari. I can no longer access my account in iTunes, get Keychain Invalid error, I have run Keychain first aid, nothing works. Completely deleted all keychains, and still no access
I also can no longer download from Apple site, have limited access to areas on the Apple site. Certain pages from the Apple site aren't loading completely.
Certain other websites not accessible anymore, getting "couldn't establish secure connection" error message.
Seems like something changed in my security settings.
Can access from other computers in house, so not a ISP problem.
Any suggestions on what might be causing problem.

    kevgil,
It is not necessary to post a duplicate topic asking the same question. If you find that you are not receiving help from someone you can always "bump" your existing topic by just replying to it. That will of course bring it to the top of the list.
Anyways, you mention "Can access from other computers in house, so not a ISP problem". It would help to know if these other computers are using 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3.2? Are these computer connected in any different manner than the affected computer that you are having the problem with.
Did you try the browser that I suggested in your previous topic (Camino 1.6.8)? Safari 1.3.2 is no longer supported and will have many problems with certain websites and their features (such as flash version etc.) Please try Camino and let us know if the problem persists. This will at least let everyone know that the problem is not with an outdated browser.
