Itunes restore fail (error 9) during iphone OS upgrade from 3.1 to 4.1

Using iTunes 10, when I tried to upgrade my iPhone 3G OS from 3.x to 4.x, it gave error after syncing & backup successfully; with error code 9 stating that it can't restore the backup successfully. Now my phone screen shows "connect to itunes picture" and the itunes says "iTunes has detected an error in recovery mode. You must restore this phone before it can be used with iTunes".
I do NOT want to lose all my iPhone contact phone numbers. Does the iTunes software backup that up be default as well? Will I be able to restore the contacts successfully after resetting the phone to factory device and choosing a previous backup to restore? Are there any other options or safety measures I should take before wiping the phone to factory default through restore? Thanks a lot.

    ☞ You store sent messages on the server

    Most well-known independent mail services such as iCloud and Gmail are based on IMAP. On the other hand, ISP-hosted mail services almost always use POP. If your ISP is one of your mail service providers (or the only one), you probably can't use this procedure. Ask for further instructions in that case.
    If you know that the conditions above are satisfied, continue as follows.
    Quit Mail if it's running. Back up all data.
    Open the Library folder in your home folder by holding down the option key and selecting
              Go ▹ Library
    from the Finder menu bar. Inside it is a subfolder named "Mail." Move that folder to the Desktop. You're not moving the Mail application; you're moving a folder named "Mail."
    Open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and recreate your mail accounts other than iCloud with the same settings as before. To recreate an iCloud mail account, all you have to do is open the iCloud preference pane and check the box marked Mail.
    Launch Mail. If all goes well, your mailboxes should be restored automatically. The messages will be downloaded from the servers, so it may take a long time if you have very large mailboxes. Some people have mailboxes in the gigabyte range, and that may be a problem if your bandwidth usage is metered.
    If the mailboxes are created successfully, you can delete the folder you moved to the Desktop. You may have to recreate your Mail rules, signatures, and custom stationery. If it's very important to you not to have to do all that, ask for instructions before deleting the folder.

    Hi,
    It’s version 13.1.1  It’s a trial version.
    I am updating it from the Creative cloud desktop application.
    I have the photography subscription with Lightroom and Photoshop with Creative Cloud.
    I was interested in trying out the video software and have trials of Premiere Pro as well as others.  The CC desktop app alerted me to the AF update just as it does for the others I subscribe to plus the ones I am using as trials.  I have not had any problems with the other apps (trial or not), only with AF.

    Hi guys i am having an issue with CreativeCloud.
    I am on PC
    Everytime i try to install After Effect trial on CreativeCloud it keeps saying this error message : "Installation failed Errors encountered during installation.(34)" and i've tried alot of times and always the same error message. I also tryed using  CreativeCloud cleaner tool but that didnt help at all.
    So if anyone can help please do it quickly and reply. ASAP !!!

  • I've just bought an new laptop and downloaded itunes. I plugged in my iphone and upgraded to the newest itunes/ synched etc. Now I have no music or apps on my phone. The contacts photos and texts all seem fine. Just the itues stuff that's missing.

(No point synching with itunes on my computer as it isn't there either!)

    I suggest copying your entire iTunes library to your new computer, also you might want to copy the photos you want to save. Then sync your device to the new iTunes and copy over your music, documents and photos that you want.
    If you are no longer going to use the old computer you should open up iTunes on the old computer and use the menu to deauthorize it. Be sure to use the same iTunes menu on your new computer to Authorize the new one.

    I'm having the same problem. It's as if my iPhone and MacBook Pro now have two separate calendars.
    Basically, I have a MacBook Pro (Mountain Lion, 13", late 2011) that I sync via USB with an iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1). Before upgrading to Mountain Lion, all of my iCal events would sync flawlessly. But none of the events I've created in iCal (Calendars) since upgrading have synced to the iPhone. Likewise, no new events that I create on the iPhone Calendar will sync to iCal. Also, changes to an existing event (even one created before upgrading to Mountain Lion) don't get synced either.
    Everything else seems to be syncing just fine though (music, apps, contacts, etc).

    Thanks for this; my issue is that I have now supposedly purchased a retail version of Acrobat X1 (i.e just spent more $$, after the upgrade attempt  to Acrobat X1 failed), and while this feigns an OK install, it fails in someway to override the "Upgrade Acrobat X1 version".  E.G. once I load up to read an acrobat file the "upgrade version" executes/intercepts and ask for serial numbers and check for a previous qualifying version which I do not have, (BUT what I do have is the current retail version of acrobat X1 which is not recognised)
    Do I need to uninstall and start over again? (I am reluctant to do this as I am sure serial number issues will arise, as I assume downloaded file will be cleaned up etc, and I am not spending more money trying again!)
    Any suggestions?

    I have tried to update my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.0.3 from itunes.
    My previous iOS version was 7.0.2. 2GB free space before updating. I have backed up previously. everything was ok.
    Itunes sent a message with error code 12. Can not install update.
    Iphone screen showed the apple logo and an almost full gauge when itunes sent the error.
    I have tried many times and the result is always the same ( previous reboot, itunes update, no Virtual OS environments, restore)
    Macbook pro OSX 10.7.8/ iTunes 11.1.2
    Any help?

    this just happened to me. ended up having to replace it since it was already a warranty replacement.
    i'm curious tho, did anyone else experience issues with their service on AT&T prior to the restore issue?
    my phone was searching for service for about 3 days. i thought at&t was just having issues, but i found out there wasn't anything wrong with the network when i called them. however, during troubleshooting when i called them, we noticed that my imei and sim card number weren't listed, and the modem fireware was blank.  this made me think a restore should fix it and that's how i ended up here.
    i have to consider that a firmware update was pushed down from the carrier that ultimately bricked the phone...not that it does any good; i just can't stand never knowing what the error 12 is exactly referring to!

    my girlfriend bought me an iPad in USA some weeks ago.
    Everything was ok, but 3 days ago it turned off and asked to connect to itunes. After that it asked to restore. But failed with error 1002. I tried everything from this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275

    I live in Russia and haven't chance to get help here, because our support deny assistance with iPad :(((

    Apple's policy for refunds or exchanges must be done within 14 days of purchase.
    Take the iPad into the Apple store in Hamburg and explain what happened. Hopefully they can help.
