ITunes RIP

I received a Norton update and since then my iTunes will not open. When I click on the icon iTunes appears onsceen but its frozen!? If I ctrl-alt-del it says that its nor responding?? The the following error message appears:
saAppName: itunes.exe saappuer 6.0.0.1.8 szmodname: hungapp
szmodver: 0.0.0.0 ofnet: 00000000
I have uninstalled/reinstalled/uninstalled/reinstalled. I even tried loading standalone quicktime and nothing.
When I tried to load my old itunes (from first CD) it says that "itunes Library.itl" could not be read as a newer version of itunes had been made or something.
I have a headache!
I have followed the steps on here i.e. turn off NIS etc but it still comes up and freezes.
I plugged in my ipod, which still has the music on it thankfully, and it appeared in the itunes menu but thats as far as I have managed to get.
HELP!

Everytime I opened itunes I got the registration
accept or decline option. I accepted and then itunes
would open then freeze. The task manager would show
itunes as not responding.
I went through everything discussed on this site i.e.
intalling/uninstalling itunes. Installing the
standalone QT but nothing seemed to work, virus
checks etc etc
After not much success I decided to see what would
happen if I used my girlfriends log-in. To my
amazement itunes opened. It asked me to proceed
through the registration process and once done it
opened and worked fine.
I then went back to my itunes and nothing, still
frozen. So I removed the itunes music folder to the
shared documents file and hey presto itunes worked
again, albeit my library was empty.
Then I just dragged the itunes music folder back into
the library and itunes proceeded to update my library
and add all my songs all over again.
I had to re-add my videos etc but these were on the
pc anyways.
Hope this helps.
Wierd! But at least it works!

  • Why does iTunes rip the first part of a CD quickly, but then slows down for the last few - Why?

I am trying to rip CD's into iTunes so sync with my iPhone.  When I currnetly rip the CD, it will rip the first 10 tracks in a matter of moments at 40x.  However, the last 4-5 tracks take forever - up to 20 minutes per track.  This has happened on multiple CD's and only with the v11.0.1.12.
    Any advice out there?

  • ITunes ripping certain CDs slow and creating distorted tracks

I have just recently swicthed to iTunes after getting my new laptop and ripped my entire CD collection using it (iTunes 9.1.1 I believe).
Anyway, out of probably 200 CDs I've found 5 that just won't rip properly and I can't, no matter what I look for figure out why?
If anyone could help, the problem is that iTunes claims to be ripping at speeds of on average x0.4 to x0.6 (Where as all other CDs I get about x13) and estimating a rip time, but the estimation only goes down by 2 seconds every 40/50 seconds. After I finally gave in and let it rip an entire track (which took around an hour) the song was broken and distorted almost beyond recognition. I then decided to rip the track using Windows Media Player and it did it just fine.
    The Albums are;
    Muse -Showbiz
    Muse -Absolution
    Muse -HAARP
    Muse -Hullabloo Soundtrack
    Death Cab For Cutie -Plans
If that makes any difference to the problem
The CDs are clean and just about brand new since I only ever rip my CDs and then reserve them to the shelf, does anyone have any idea what's going wrong at all.
    Thankyou

You might be able to see if Gracenote is responsible for the slow-down by using the script Disable Gracenote
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes Ripped DVD Fustrations

    Hi Guys,
This topic must have been covered before but here is my problem, I have a new MAC Mini, 2TB Time Capsule both networked by Ethernet, 2x ATV's. I have ripped over 300 of my own DVD's to the Time Capsule via a registered version of DVD Fab for MAC, I have run the Rips through Identify to get all the Meta Data, this intern adds the Ripped DVD to my iTunes library. My iTunes Media files are located on the Time Capsule. Everything is the viewed via the ATV's using Home Sharing within iTunes.
All was working great until a few weeks ago when titles started to grey out on the MAC and disappear completely on the ATV's, I can get them back by using the get info option, but why do they keep disappearing? It's not all of the titles, just some of them, I would say about 40-50%, I also leave the MAC and the Time Capsule left on all the time, not sleeping.
This morning I checked my library and again a lot of the titles were not showing up but last night they were all there and working.......it's as if something nips in while I'm asleep and plays around with the library, please help anyone........ps sorry for the long post......

You will have to get the content into a format iTunes can accept. For format information, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2729
Handbrake is often recommended for doing the conversion. It works quite well, in my experience, and has the benefit of being free.
    Regards.

  • ITunes Ripping Issue

Has anyone experienced an issue with ripping cd's to their MBP? Everytime I rip a music cd using iTunes it gets about halfway through the cd and then iTunes freezes and the disc drive acts like its struggling to read the disk. I have experienced this issue on this program on two different MBP's so I don't think its a technical issue. Does anyone know of any other programs that I could use to rip my music (Free would be awesome). I tried to drag and drop but it estimated an insane amount of time?
    Thanks everyone!
    John

Are MBP's Disc Drives usualy really sensitive. I tried just for the fun of it to drag and drop the song that it froze on to the hard drive and again it froze and said it had an error. I am experiencing this same problem with maybe 3 out of every 5 cd's?

  • ITunes Ripping ONLY 3K files

Every time I try to import a CD now that I've installed iTunes 5, it only rips a 3k file. An entire CD takes 20 seconds, and I cannot get it to import the actual songs. PLEASE HELP!

    I wish Apple paid attention...
On this Forum, Apple does not pay attention.  This is a user to user forum.
For that exact reason, we have no ability to fix bugs in iTunes.  You can however, report them directly to Apple:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
I see that you do not care for the workaround that I proposed, which is of course entirely up to you.

  • Slow iTunes rip speed

Have seen previous threads on this topic, but no answers. Just got an iPod for xmas. Am trying to rip CD's and getting speeds of 1.2 to 1.5X. I'm using 6.0.1 on an iMac. I do not have the use error correction box checked. The CD's are spotless. Is this fixable? Am I doomed to slow download speeds? Are earlier versions of iTunes better?

iTunes' AAC encoder is heavily optimized for the Velocity Engine instruction set, which G3 processors cannot take advantage of, so I suppose that your slow speeds might be normal. Encoding to MP3 might be faster.

  • Itunes ripped me off!!

I was downloading a song and then my internet went offline because i only have dial up and when i came back online the song was no where in sight and itunes had already taken the money off my account.....is there anyway i can get the money back or continue downloading the song?
Has this happened to anyone else

have you tried going to advanced -> check for iTunes purchases?

  • LA Woman is in my local iTunes, ripped from my CD, but is not in my iTunes match stuff.

I have all 6 Doors studio releases, and only 5 show up in my other iTunes match connected devices. Obviousy I want to listen to LA Woman on my iPhone and can't. And it probably means other things are missing, both my tracks that are not matches that should have been uploaded, and things that should have matched with the itunes store.

So I guess I'll post my own answer, in case anyone else comes across this. (If you have insight contrary to what I think, please let me know.)
I realize now that yes, manually managing music is disabled when the iPhone has iMatch turned on. The message "must download items from iCloud before they can be copied" seems misleading, since as far as I can tell nothing can be copied from iTunes to the phone when iMatch is on. (When I turn iMatch off on the phone, music can be copied normally.)
It took me a while to figure this out for sure, because as I turned iMatch on and off in both iTunes and my phone, iTunes started behaving more and more strangely, ultimately not recognizing the phone as normally synced with this library. A reboot of the phone finally brought things back to normal.

  • Itunes rip speed

Has anyone tested ripping a CD yet? I was wondering what kind of average and max rip speed you were seeing. I have a G4 1.42 with pioneer 107 with firmware update to unlock extra burn and read speeds and I average about 18x and I have seen about 25 once in a while. Does the Mac Pro kill this or is it limited to the speed of the DVD drive? I have a Mac pro on order and was just curious about a real world test.

I have a Mac Pro 3.0 Ghz with two superdrives. I imported a cd earlier today, and on average, I was getting 25-28x.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why is Itunes ripping me off!

I was given a new 30$ itunes voucher, still sealed as a gift. I recharged my previously empty balance and itunes stated I had a 30.00 balance. However when I tried to make a purchase it stated that my balance was out of date, and continued to do this 4-5 times before finally allowing purchases, but my balance was deducted 27$, instead of the stated 16.99. Feeling quite furious at this stage and would like to know if anybody has had similar problems.

Just contact itunes support and they will sort it out.

  • How do I transfer the music I ripped from cds I own to a new PC with iTunes?

    Greetings y'all.
Some one I work with uses iTunes, and he wants to transfer all of his music from his old computer to his new computer. I went to the apple website trying to find answers. They have some pretty decent tutorials on how to transfer your music from one PC to another PC.
However, here's the curve ball, my co-worker has much music that they ripped from CDs. Whenever I tried some of the methods detailed on those tutorials they would simply not transfer the ripped music, all of which he legitimately purchased.
One of the methods details simply going to the folder that iTunes stores the music and copying it to an external then copy pasting it on to the other computer. When I tried this it not only did not copy the ripped music, it deleted it off of the external. Only the music which he purchased on the Apple iTunes store transferred over successfully.
He still has his old computer and won't get rid of it until we know for certain that his music is safely on his new computer.
Do you guys have any thoughts on this dilemma? Would home sharing work better on this?
The iTunes version on both his computers is the same.  He is running Windows 7 on his new machine, and Windows XP on his old machine.

I don't know Windows, so all I can suggest is how one moves the iTunes folder to another machine via an external drive. Now, if he added tracks but did not have them stored into the iTunes library then they are stored elsewhere on the old computer or he's just going to have to re-rip them from the CD. BTW, if he rips them using iTunes, then they should not require any conversion. iTunes rips as MP3s. They shouldn't require any conversion.

  • ITunes 6.0.3.5: Rips CDs then loses the tracks...

iTunes is working fine on my computer with my iPod but my fiancee's machine will rip a CD, file away the music and never add it to her library to be listened to in any fashion. These songs are accessible on disk and can be listened to in anything but iTunes.
She's using Musicmatch to rip her music and then manually adding the ripped tracks but that's a big pain compared to how it's supposed to be. This process doesn't work for the iTunes ripped tracks however, it simply refuses to add them no matter what she does to them manually.
    Help?!?
Alienware Aurora 7500   Windows XP Pro

    hiya!
I hada virus named Quizoogle or something... but deleted that so doubt that thats the problem
was that the Qoologic/Qoolaid adware? an infestation of that is consistent with neither itunes nor QT opening (and getting no error messages whatsoever when they refuse to open).
what did you use to get rid of it? (it can sometimes be a beast to remove fully from Win 2000 boxes.)

  • ITunes locks up computer when ripping some CDs

I have been building my iTunes library. iTunes rips some CDs with no problem. However, ripping other CDs causes my computer to lock up which requires a hard shut down in order get out of iTunes. The CDs which are a problem with iTunes can be ripped with Windows Media Player and then imported to iTunes but, that makes unnecessary work. Furthermore, I never know which CDs will work with iTunes and which ones won't! I have followed all of the standard "Apple" advise, to included uninstalling and installing the iTunes software a number of times. Nothing helps! Early in 2006, I did not experience this problem. Do you have any ideas?
    Inspiron 5150   Windows XP

Though this is a forum for itunes on Windows, I'm having the same issue on my g4 mini, and installed the 7.0.1 update as it was supposed to address this very problem, among others. No difference at all. I've tried importing as AAC, mp3, with different bit rates, and no change. It will import a few tracks, or most of them, or none of them, and then lock up randomly.
The only way around it that I've found is to manually copy all the AIFF files from the cd to my desktop and then import in to itunes from there, and that works without any problem but then I have to enter all the track titles, etc., manually--inconvenient but nothing more.
Anyone else still having trouble with this? My next step will be to uninstall v7 and install v6, but I'd like to find a solution to this so I can still use the nifty features in v7.

  • I want to import songs frm my Ipod to my itunes library.  Songs were ripped from CDs to the ipod not purchased from itunes store...how can this be done?

I want to import songs frm my Ipod to my itunes library.  Songs were ripped from CDs to the ipod not purchased from itunes store...how can this be done?

You would have to let itunes rip the songs from the cd's, or you would have to copy the music from the computer which ripped cd's.
iTunes does not support transferring music from the ipod unless it was purchased from the store.
