Itunes running in background or not at all

I've gone through the support site and cant find any useful answers so i was hoping someone here might have a suggestion i havent thought of.
Symptoms:
after loading itunes i can get one of two things to happen. 1) the computer starts loading something, but itunes never opens. if i check the processes itunes.exe is running, but the gui never pops up. 2) i get an error when starting itunes that says memory cannot be read.
I recently reloaded my computer, less than a month, so its a fairly clean install. last night i tried loading itunes for the first time and after setup was compete i got the first symptom. i uninstalled and reinstalled several times. sometimes nothing would happen and sometime i would get the memory error.
to get the memory error i completely uninstall itunes, quicktime and any other apple software (including any left over temp and config files). then i run the itunes installer (which no longer installs quicktime, don't know why) and when i try to start itunes i get the memory error. if i check the uninstall screen, quicktime isn't an option so I'm pretty sure it isn't loaded. then if i install quicktime from the separate quicktime installer i start getting the problem where itunes wont pop up.
currently itunes is installed but the gui wont show up. I've tried the selective startup via msconfig mentioned on the apple support faq and i've tried rebooting in safe mode and i get the same problem. I think that should eliminate possible conflicting software. I've updated my sound drivers and ran the drivers signing .bat file described in the itunes support faq.
i would really like to avoid reinstalling my os, so any thoughts would be helpful.

A number of people have had problems with itunes hanging at startup. The usual troubleshooting steps haven't worked but here is the Apple troubleshooting article, it's worth going through it:

You have a complicating factor however which is VMware.

Shortcuts for iTunes even iTunes run on background

Hi everybody,
does someone know how create shortcuts for e.g. playing next song, turning volume up ..... even that iTunes runs on background. It's quite disturbing vevery time when I want skip song open iTunes and skip song. Is there some posibilities to force iTunes react on my demands when it's in background?

Under Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse ->Keyboard shortcuts I could add shotcuts only when iTines was active not when it was in the background.....but maybe it's possible to avoid somehow.

Why are most of the apps (anything that has to search) on my iphone4 and ipad (1) running very slow (or not at all) since iOS5 update...esp google. Search seems to go quickly, but then when I try to open a link..nothing. I have turned off icloud.

I am having the same problem. Did turning off iCloud work? Did you just turn everything off or did you actually delete the account off your iPod?

I just downloaded an album off of itunes and now it will not play all the way through. how do i fix the unfinished songs

i downloaded tragic kingdom by no doubt and about four of tthe songs will play about forty seconds in and switch to the next song, they do not play all the way through. i went through troubleshooting online but it was unhelpful and did not fix my problem. i need help, please!

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

Out put in Background (SM37) not showing All columns

Hi Folks,
Im creating an out put display for my query in background , we have define an output device , after submitting the query in back ground it just showing me only 10 columns . I mean I its not showing me all columns when I went to SE37-> select job->spool ->view (display).
Why its happening?

When you are submitting the job in background by exexuting your query from Sq01 or Tr.code , a screen will pop-up ask for you device name, on the same screen youll see properties hit that, itll take you to another screen and change the report format 65 and 200 or 65 and 200. It depends on your out put device . You can only display report till 255 . If you want to active ALV functional enable in background spool job you have to use extracts for that . So you can download your data in correct format.
You can also decrease the length of variables in query so within 255 characters you can see all report columns.

I cannot access the music via my iTunes account and it will not download all of them. If it matters, I have not gotten the new update yet.

I go to school and I would like to be able to listen to my music on my laptop versus using my iPhone or iPad. Only some of my music had been downloaded and I cannot download the rest. I have authorized my computer through my account several times but I still cannot get all of my music on it. I have the 128GB but storage is not an issue as I use a flash drive (16GB) and I have access to external hard drive (1.5TB). How can I get all of my music to actually download to my MacBook?

In order to list to your music purchased on iTunes on your computer, you will need to first download those songs. To download your previous purchases from the iTunes Store, please follow the directions in the link below.
Download previous purchases on Mac or PC
Make sure your Mac or PC meets these system requirements:
iTunes 10.3 or later
You need iTunes 10.6 or later to download previously purchased movies and TV shows.
iTunes account in a country where iTunes in the Cloud is available
iTunes Store
Open iTunes and go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased in the Quick Links section.
Select the content type that you want to download (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books).
Select Not in My Library to view purchased content that isn't on your computer.
Find the item that you want to download. You can browse using the menu to the left. If you have more than 2,000 songs, you'll see Recent Purchases instead of All Songs or Albums.
Click the Download icon next to the item you want to download.
If an item is already in your library, the Download icon won't appear.

My ipod classic ran out of battery, when I turned it back on all my songs were gone. How can I recover them on a windows vista computer? Also, the itunes on my vista does not have all my original songs. Please help

My Ipod Classic died because it ran out of battery. Finally, today when I was able to plug it into my computer to
charge it, all my music was gone. It did not show up on the Itunes nor was it present on my Ipod. Which freaked
me out. I dont know what to do because I do have Itunes but all the music I had on my Ipod was from my
first computer, which I no longer have because it was stolen. However, on my Itunes it says my Ipod
has 14.27 GB used and 13.55 FREE. So I just want to know how to get my music back on to my Ipod
and that it shows up in Itunes again. I have a Windows Vista so if anyone knows instructions it would
be greatly appreciated!

ITunes to iPad Home Sharing not syncing all music

I have a new iPad (the one just released; iPad 4?) and an older MacBook (about 3 years old or so). When I open iTunes and set up Home Sharing on the MacBook, then open the Music app on my iPad and enable Home Sharing, not all of my music shows up. Some of it (around 10% maybe) appears. It seems to be a random selection.
Anyone know what might be going on here?

I find the home sharing can be a little finicky at times. Reboot the ipad by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
Rebooting your macbook might work as well.
Rebooting the wifi router by unplugging it for 5-10 minutes.

IMac Core 2 Duo running 10.4.8 not finding all files in network hard drive

I've got >12,300 songs on a Buffalo LinkStation (NAS) that is set to allow both Macs and Windows computers read it. My Wndows XP computers recognize all the files, but my iMac 2GHz Core Duo with 10.4.8 doesn't. I consolidated all my music using iTunes on my Windows XP laptop and then returned the folder to my NAS. No improvement. My iMac still won't see all the music. What's more, it seems to be totally arbitrary. It will see all files from Michael Jackson's Thriller except "Wanna be startin' somethin'" and then will see only one of three songs by Kenny Rogers, the two unrecognized being "Lucille" and "The Gambler." Don't even get me started on my U2 folder or any of my Rap albums. Is it an index problem? How do I fix this?

Lee: I have no idea whether this is the problem, but I am recently aware of my own issues with a Buffalo Linkstation and they relate to the NAS drive's not being able to read file names with certain characters like "/" "|" "*" and the like. I was testing out a backup program (Synk, Standard Ed.) to back up various files and got a huge number of error messages, apparently resulting from "illegal" file names. This is apparently because the Linkstation's kernel is Linux and these special characters mean something special to the OS. Why Buffalo claims that the product is mac-compatible is another matter.

Itunes 10.1.1 will not show all podcast updates via Refresh function

I am having a problem with my podcast not refreshing on the itunes podcast page when a publish a new episode. If I use the "show all available episodes" function the episode appears but if I click refresh or the automatic update functions the podcast is not new seen.
This is only a problem with itunes 10.1.1 on OS X 10.6.5, the refresh function operates on my windows machine using the latest itunes version. I am awaiting a response from Libsyn where my podcasts are based but I was wandering if anyone is having any similar problems.
Once the podcast is selected as previously mentioned, download and play is normal

This problem has only appeared since the last itunes update to my knowledge. It may well be an rss related issue as it does not seem to effect other podcast's new episodes, though I cannot see why it should only be a problem on my Mac...and all subscribe settings are constant for all podcast issuers on both platforms...It might just be a hidden setting somewhere but I've tried everything

I have had similar problems in the past like this one, give this a try:
Go to your iPhone settings>music> scroll down to "show all music" and make sure its on.

I have 2nd gen iPod nano with songs from iTunes but also burnt from CDs. I now have a new laptop currently without iTunes or any music on. Is there anyway for me to connect the iPod to iTunes on the laptop and not loose all of the songs on it?

Pretty much as it says above. I don't want to loose all my old songs that weren't downloaded and am wondering if there's anyway that I can make sure there safe to connect it to a new laptop with no music on at present.

Vault files are set up like this:

Right now if I run the program through command prompt it erases both the vault.ini and new vault.ini. I am also trying to put it in an executable jar file and when I do that I get a "Failed to load main class manifest attribute" error. Any ideas on what is causing this?

I don't know what is happening. I put your exact code into a small build environment and used a build file for ant that I have and it works just fine. Manifest files are a total pain which is why I use a tool to generate it. I know that the last line has to be blank and that no line can be over a certain length.
You've now spent several days avoiding ant and I got it running with ant in about 3 minutes. I'm really missing something.

Microphone running on background while not knowing where

Hi,
I'm having a HP Pavilion DV7 and yesterday I was on Skype with my girlfriend. Then, all of a sudden, I closed down Skype and my (integrated) microphone stopped working. Shecould still hear me, but I couldn't hear her. So I started up Skype again and then I got the message that my microphone already was in use by some other program. I've been looking everywhere, in the proces-tab as well and un-installed and re-installed the driver, but there's still no effect. Can anybody help me with this? It's one of the few ways of communication we have and we really want to fix this!

You need to start over with Music. On the iPhone Music screen uncheck sync music. Also, on the Summary screen uncheck "Manually manage music and videos", then sync and it should clear off your phone.
Next, choose the music you want to sync. If you want to fit more on check "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC". This will reduce quality slightly, but it won't be noticable unless you are using $300 headphones.
