ITunes's playing albums' tracks backwards

Namely, the problem as in the subject of this thread. It occurred after I updated to the latest version of iTunes. How do I make it to play it in normal order?
Thanks for your advices.

Or is it a bug? When clicking on "forward" from the iTunes menu ("navigation") it goes backward and vice versa. It's strange and I could't find a solution browsing in the Help section of the menu. Am I right?
P.S. After some experimenting I noticed, however, that if I click on "play album" then the playback goes in the right order (by tracks' numbers), but if I choose to play from some song in an album, then this thing happens. It's kinda annoying, though

  • ITunes lists my album tracks backwards

I'm using iTunes 7 on my new 24" iMac but I noticed it lists my album tracks backwards.  For example, when I go to the middle Album view, it lists all of my albums with all of the tracks in that album, but they are numbered last to first as you read top to bottom.  This not only looks weird, but it prevents me from playing a whole album continuously from beginning to end.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Hi, Ixnayx51.
Have you tried clicking the Track # column heading to assure the tracks are in ascending order by track number? Likewise, in Album View, clicking the Album column heading label repeatedly will put all albums in ascending order by album and related fields, as well as by track number within album.
If the Track # column is not displayed, Control-click any column heading and select it from the resulting contextual menu.
FYI: iTunes questions should be posted on the iTunes Discussion.
    Good luck!

  • How can I stop itunes arranging and playing album tracks alphabetically?

I am obviously an absolute half-wit, but when I import albums into itunes it arranges the tracks alphabetically. I want them to play in the order that they are on the album.
Does anyone know how I can make this happen?
    17" powerbook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

after you open itunes click the library icon in the source field to your left.
click on edit in the menu bar of itunes,
    click view options .
place a check mark in the box marked track number.
now there should be a column heading that says "Track#" click that heading.
your library is now sorted by track number but all the first tracks of every album are first, if the last song on the album are first click the triangle in the track # column again this will reverse the order.
next click the Album column heading you will now have the albums in alphabetical order with original track order in the library.
just remember sort by track# first then by Album.
    hope this helps.

  • IPod won't play album tracks consecutively, only one at a time

So I was trying to listen to some Brian Eno last night.
How do I tell my iPod that Brian Eno soundtracks are, um, soundtracks - as in, intended to be played piece after piece, one through thirteen? For example, if I go into eg a Kasabian album, I can play the whole thing without having to re-find the album for each individual track, + the tracklisting in the 'Now Playing' window on the iPod shows '1 of 13', '2 of 13', etc.
But if I try to play Eno's The Pearl, the 'Now Playing' display tells me each track is '1 of 1' - so it will only play one track + I have to go back into the iPod + manually select track 2, track 3, etc (which are all still '1 of 1'). And here's the weird part, if I look at the same tracks in the 'Get Info' window on iTunes on my laptop, each track is clearly labelled '1 of 13', '2 of 13', etc. Whassup with that then? It seems as if that info simply isn't making it as far as the iPod.
I tried designating the album as a compilation, but this just made Eno vanish from the Artists menu + didn't solve the problem.
Double weirdly, this seems to be a problem I have only with Brian Eno - is he on some sort of Apple blacklist??!
For the moment I've got a workaround, in that I've made Eno into a playlist - but surely there's got to be a correct solution?
    Any help gratefully received. Thanks.
    Fi

Did you ever get a sensible answer to this problem, I have a similiar problem on my Mac. I have one track from iTunes Store, which refuses to play on my iPod......have downloaded stack of music before, this has never happened previously!

  • N-series Music Player plays album tracks in alphab...

This bug is still in the N85 firmware (V 30.019). So the firmware has now been updated twice, with the error still in it.
However, I have found a workaround, that is easy to use and does not require too much work. It's a bit on the geeky side, I'm afraid, but not that difficult.
    The Problem
I have found that N85 (and presumably many other N-series devices as well) cannot correctly read and play music albums, but instead plays the tracks in alphabetical order. The same occurs no matter how you transfer the audio to the device. Even thought the Music Player cannot read the tags in the MP3 files, but it does handle M3U playlists correctly.
    Background
[A short explanation for those of you who don't know what M3U playlists are. They were originally developed to be used with the computer music player WinAmp, but have since become a rather common little tool. Playlist is basically a text file, with a name like michael_jackson_thriller.m3u, that lists the contents of a music album (or indeed any other collection of music that you like) and describes the sequence of music files to be played. It sort of tells the music player application what you want to hear and in what order.
When you double click an M3U playlist in your computer, your music player software will open and play the music files in that playlist, automatically. In other words, a playlist does not contain any music, but instructions about where to find them in your computer's or device's memory. You can use playlists in your Nokia N-series phone's music player as well.]
    The Solution
Always include an M3U file with each album that you transfer to your phone. Then, instead of the album open the corresponding playlist and hey presto! it plays correctly. As an added bonus, you get noticeably shorter gaps between tracks, which is especially nice when you play mixed music (like DJ sets or classical music). Please note that you can't use PLS files (another common playlist format).
What you want to do is get a helper application to your computer that can easily (or even automatically) create playlists, and then transfer them to your device's Music folder in mass media mode. The simply update your Music Library in your phone and go to Playlists in the Music Player.
I have found the following (Windows) applications particularly useful.
    Oddgravity Playlist Creator
A compact tool that creates playlists automatically. I usually select one folder (one album), let the app create the playlist in the same folder, and than just drag (copy) the folder to my phone's mass memory. The whole thing takes something like 60 seconds.
    iTunes Export
A tool that turns your iTunes playlists into M3U playlists. Can be fully automated.
    Medieval CUE Splitter
If you use CUE files to split whole albums, this app can create M3U files while you split the album file.
PS Otherwise I think that Carthage should be destroyed, and that Nokia really should fix that bug!

    NO .
E series have the basic features of NOKIA'S music player while hi-end Nseries phones have extra software wise better performance and some of them have better audio chip.
    Why is this?
Just to distinguish it is an ESeries phone and that is a Nseries?

  • Play a track backwards

how can i play a track or region backwards?
what is the steps to reach this effect?
    thank you

    Hi, Hugo,
The easiest way I know is to download Audacity, a free audio editor.
Solo the Track and Share the Region you want to reverse to your desktop.
Open it in Audacity, select the region (click on it), go up to Effects menu, and click "Reverse". Save.
    Drag to your GB Project.

  • ITunes/iPod displays album tracks out of order

I have this weird problem where one of my albums has three tracks that display out of order.
    http://i55.tinypic.com/mtwf0x.png
I can't think of anything in the tags that would cause this. They're all identical in terms of album/artist/# of tracks...
But this causes a wierd problem with another album
    http://i55.tinypic.com/xmvh2e.png
The three out of place tracks go there when I order by album. On my iPod in album view, Black Symphony gets displayed in the Bs, but then in the Hs, it'll show up as a full listing again like this:
    Heart of Everything
    Black Symphony
    Heart of Everything
    Black Symphony
    Heart of Everything
    Black Symphony
Going into each album will have the full list. Heart of Everything displays its tracks in order, but each entry for Black Symphony will have the full listing with tracks 9, 15 and 21 at the bottom of the track list.
Any idea what would cause this issue?

Holy frigging crap that was it! I didn't even think to look under the sorting tab! No idea how that got set anyway since they're all from the iTunes store. Anyway, apart from those three tracks, Black Symphony had the Sort Album field empty. I cleared it on those three tracks and everything is normal now. Thank you!

  • ITunes splitting up album tracks - Annoying

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to stop iTunes splitting up tracks from the same album into 4 or 5 separate albums when all the ID3 tags are the same?
It's so frustrating and its only happening with one particular album of mine.
    Thanks

Have you looked at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base?

  • ITunes pausing, playing, skipping tracks without any input.

About an hour ago, my iTunes began to pause, play and skip tracks without me doing anything at all. I made sure that i wasnt pressing ANY buttons and i even quit the app altogether. This did not help as it just reopened seconds later and began playing music again. How can i stop this from happening?

I just started having this very same problem. iTunes (9.1) will stop and start on its own. Sometimes I am listening to music while in another app, like in a browser or word processor, and it will pause itself every few minutes. It will be fine for a while, then it will pause, I start it again, and it pauses again and again. Other times it will just randomly start playing if was left paused.
The freakiest is when the app starts up by it self. I watched it Start up on its own 3 times in one hour. I think this is why my computer once woke up from sleep mode in the middle of the night.
It is like there is a ghost playing with my computer, or iTunes is possessed. I did several virus scans, and their was nothing. I also Ran Tech tool. Next I will work with Disk Utility, see if that finds anything.
The only thing that occurred about the same time was I started getting more spam in the email account that goes to my mac mail. These may be unrelated, but it is the only noticeable thing that has occurred around the same time.
This feels like some sort of Malware, Zombie computer situation, but I can't find much about Mac Malware evidence out there.

  • My touch5.1.1 will not play album tracks in order.  I've turned off the shuffle function and I lock the screen when I'm walking with it, but it won't play tracks in sequence.  What can I do?

My Touch 5.1.1. has worked just fine until recently.  I have checked to see that it is not set for "shuffle" and also that the "shake to shuffle" function is turned off.  When I walk with the device, I lock the screen (all practices I've always followed), but tracks and even multiple discs for albums constantly shuffle.  Please help!

Quickly Triple tap the home button to de-activate VoiceOver.

  • ITunes starts playing album in shuffle mode?

I haven't used iTunes in awhile, mostly been listening to music on my iPod. When I pressed play, I started to realize that the opera I was listening to didn't make much sense, and looked up, and noticed that it had started in shuffle mode, does iTunes do this now? I have shuffle off, yet it started in shuffle anyway?

Sorry, let me clarify. I'm not shuffling the songs on the iPod, which would be a random order every time. I've created a paylist within iTunes of about 30 CD's, in which I've shuffled those songs in iTunes. So that playlist is the same list of songs everytime, even though I've shuffled them. That list will stay the same until I reshuffle within iTunes.

  • Play one track then stop - please !

    Hi
Is it not possible ( Using windoes version) to make Itunes only play one track - we use itunes for a simple form of djing, but do not need mixing cross fading etc. - Iust need it to play one track from the library, and while thats playing I want to find the next one, but it not be played until I am ready. I dont want to go through the pain of making a new play list each track.
Is this a feature/mode that has been requested alot - I would have though so
    Ian and Jane

No itunes does not have a queuing feature.
The nearest I have been able to get to it is to create a temporary playlist and put the first track to be played in it. Then set the playlist playing and as long as you don't let the last track end, you can add tracks from your library while it is playing by selecting a track in the library, right clicking and using add to playlist. But that's no good if you want to make an announcement in between tracks.
If you do not want iTunes to advance automatically, you can uncheck the little check boxes to the left of the name column. Then you have to set each track playing manually.

  • How do I get Itunes to play an album in order if some of the songs are duets? For example, if I'm playing an album by "John Doe" and track

How do I get stupid Itunes to play an album in order if some of the songs are duets? For example, if I'm playing an album by "John Doe" and track #3 is a duet w/ "Jane Doe", it treats it as a separate album! What can I do

    Hi
    All my tracks are MP3.
In List View, I do not have an Album column I have an Album by Artist column.  If I click on this column the albums look right in the playlist on the screen but when I burn to the CD the tracks are not in one folder per album instead they seem to be in folders per Artist then Album, which as one of the albums is a compilation has created about 30 folders.
If I switch on the 'Sort by Album' column it burns the disc as I expected.
