Itunes says i need to upgrade, when i try it doesn,t work. help please

i plugged my ihpone in to my comp amd it sai that i needed to uninstall and reinstll itunes 64 bit, now itunes won't open says error.
any ideas please?

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive

I connected my ipod to my Windows as usual and itunes told me "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be ued with itunes. I did that but nothing happened. itunes displayed the same message again. I restored it again. Nothing. In the meantime, my ipod was absolutely fine. Restoring it wiped out everything of course. I then connected my ipod to my Mac at home. No problems at all! I synced it with Mac without a problem. However, most of my songs areon Windows at work so I need to get to them. Even after Mac's itunes, Windows itunes on my computer still says restore etc. What do I do?

iTunes says computer not authorized. When I try to authorize computer it says it is already authorized but will not play song. Note. Library was moved from PC to MAC. I am signed in to Itunes with the Apple ID created on the old computer which is different than the Apple ID used to set up the MAC.

I'm experiencing the same thing under iTunes 11.1.1:
iTunes says the computer is not authorized, prompts me to authorize
I enter my credentials, iTunes says computer is already authorized
When I attempt to play song, iTunes starts at bullet point 1 above over again.
My attempted fixes:
I tried everything in this support document, to no avail: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389 (Note: I cannot find a SC Info folder on my Mac)
Deauthorize and then reauthorize computer
Delete song and try to redownload from iTunes store - there's only a button that says 'purchased' with no option to redownload it
Note: I am using only one iTunes account, and I double checked the song info - I'm authorizing the correct account - 12 songs from the same album purchased at the same time play fine. As does the song in question - from the finder. Only iTunes stubbornly refuses to play it.
The most odd thing is that iTunes music is DRM free - the song in question was purchased only a few months ago. Thus there's no need to authorize the computer to play it.
I was hoping that iTunes 11.1.1 would cure it - no dice.

Itunes says I need to upgrade my account but then it gives me an error

So since I've been using iTunes I've always used my AOL info to log in. Well, just a few days ago it started saying I needed to upgrade my account to a free Apple ID if I want to continue purchasing new music or using my current music. So I click for it to upgrade and it will take me to the page where it says change this account to use a Apple ID. When I click continue a box pops up saying an error has occurred and to please try again. I've tried several different times on 2 different computers on 2 different internet connections several days apart and always get this error. Can anyone help with what I need to do?

One day I got on iTunes to put some music on my iPod Nano (one of the older versions), and always before when I plugged it in and came up and said it was plugged in, but then it didn't recognize it! This went on for several months, me never being able to put more music on my iPod.
Finally I got the newest Nano for my birthday and I figured it'd work, but the same problem is going on! I've had the brand new iPod for 3 months and it doesn't have ANY music on it!
It does come up and ask if I want to download a newer version of iTunes, that it needs that one to work right (version 8.2 something I think). I go to download it, it takes a while, and then comes up and says the download was unsuccessful, I've tried about 30 times, and it never works.
What is going on?

Instead of trying to update iTunes +from within iTunes+, go to Apple's page where you can download the iTunes 8.2.1 installation file -- save the file, don't run it direct from the download. Once downloaded to your computer, then run the installation file.
If that does not fix the problem, then remove the following software from your computer (you won't lose your music): iTunes, Quicktime, and something called "Apple Mobile Device Services". Once you remove those programs, then run the iTunes installer file (from above) again. That will install all three of these programs and should fix your problem.

I have an Apple Iphone 3G which I use as an Ipod...which has the 4.2 operating system. I had to 'restore' it and now it won't let me download the Facebook app...says I need to upgrade to a 4.3 system. Any help you can provide me with that?

Hi...I am new to this site and it looks like I posted the question in the subject box...my bad.
I have an Iphone 3G which is used as an ipod (phone service plans are too expensive).
I had some apps on it, Facebook being one of them. The device was goins soooo slow (not even 2G of the available 6 being used) so I did as instructed and backed it up, restored it and then put the info back into it. When I tried to download the Facebook app...it said that I had a 4.2.1 system and needed a 4.3 something system? Can anyone provide any help on this or am I doing something wrong?

Sorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.
Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new iPod Touch.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?

I summed 'er up in the subject. "ava" is supposed to be available, but I ran out o' space. I don't want to erase any data on the iPod, as I have songs that I won't be able to get back on it...

Your list of plugins does not include the flash player. There are 2 versions of the flash player, did you install the version that Firefox uses, it does not use the same version as IE.
To install the version used by Firefox, go to the Adobe Flash site using Firefox - http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

I am so sorry I am frustrating you. This is the first time I have used this community and am leanring as I go. I am not able to see the entire post that you leave, unless I look at it on my phone (email)--I am so sorry. You have no idea how much i appreciate your help. Yes, I see that I can get the later version of OS software, but its not availabe for immediate download. My only options appear to be having it shipped, or going to the store to purchase. And if you know of another way that I can access all of my itunes library music on my new phone withouth using itunes, I would love to hear about it.--thanks and again i am so sorry for frustrating you.

We upgrade to iTunes9 - then it says we need to upgrade Safari to 4
We try to upgrade to Safari4 - then it says we need Mac OS 10.5
Mac 10.5 is chargeable product! $199 for the Mac Box !!

Go here and check the Tiger button, uncheck the Keep me up to date box, no need to fill in the eMail Addy, click Download, install it when complete.
