ITunes says iPad is supervised by another computer?

I have a school distributed iPad and they gave us the freedom to put music on it. However, when I plug in my iPad into my PC, an error message comes up and says, 'iPad is supervised by another computer and cannot be used with this computer,' and then won't let me do anything else with it, so I can't sync music to my iPad. The iPad doesn't show up under devices or anything. Help!
So far I've tried logging in on both my iPad and PC with my iTunes account, turned on home sharing on both devices, turned on iPad to automatically download music from other devices, and downloaded a free song on my iPad (I hoped it would trigger something).

Supervision Mode seems to embed itself into the operating system. In Apple Configurator, I had to unassign myself from the iPad. That restarts the iPad. This is something your IT Administrator has to do, but I doubt they will take it out of Supervisor mode as that means the devices can be stolen and used by anyone.
You are getting this error message?
Someone, your IT Administrator, used Apple Configurator to lock down your device and turned on "Supervision" in Apple Configurator:

I had to replace my hard drive and now when I plug in my iPad, itunes says it is synced with another library

That is because the iPad can only "sync" to one iTunes library at a time. You can move all of the iPad contents into a new iTunes library. This discussion will give you a lot of useful information.

This one is Mac specific - not that it is any different except for the iTunes menu.

Remember to authorize the computer in iTunes first - From the iTunes menu go to Store>Authorize this computer.

  • Ithis ipad is supervised by another computer cannot be used with this computer help

i need help this ipad3 is supervised by another computer and cannot be used with this computer please help me i do'not know what i should be do help thanks

It depends of what type you have. If it is your own personal iPad you should have any problem but if it is a school owned iPad then you'd have to ask the teacher who ever gave it to you. I have a school owned iPad and I e-mailed someone about it and asked and she told me to use cloud but I am/was confused and I will try again soon.

  • I re-installed Windows - Itunes says my iPod is for another computer

So I re-installed Windows XP Pro on my computer and I just installed iTunes. I also updated my iPod. I have a 4GB Ipod Nano 2nd Gen. Itunes tells me that my iPod is for another computer, obviously since I re-intalled windows. How do I make it native to this copy of Windows vs my old one? Even tho they're the same copy..

So you didn't back up your stuff before you formatted your HD?
    Bummer...
There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes

  • Itunes says "device already synched to another computer"  ...but it isn't and won't recognize the ipod at all.

ipod isn't recognized by computer that it was originally synced to. It hasn't been synched to any other. How can I move music on ipod to itunes on new computer without access to itunes for the ipod itself?

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • HT200261 I work in a school and manage over 50 iPads. I have a new MacBook and my "backup iPad" says it is supervised by another device. I still have the old MacBook. Is there a way to remove that supervision from the iPads and add it to the new one?

I have two MacBooks. I have sole control over one of them. Our Tech Director wants me to control everything iPad in the school. I am trying to set up Apple Configurtator on the new Mac, transfer all the apps already downloaded, and everytime I plug my "backup" iPad into the new MacBook, it says, "This iPad is supervised by another computer and cannot be used with this computer. Help please!!!

Yes, Nathan. I have Automatic Download options for Music, Books, and Updates, but not for Apps. I turned on the Updates, but it didn't help. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Stop iTunes launching when iphone is supervised by another computer

I'm testing an iPhone for work and as a pre-existing iPhone and iPad user, have a small USB hub to charge and sync my devices. The problem I now have is that whenever I connect my work iPhone (a 5c), iTunes launches itself and then tells me that "this iPhone is supervised by another computer and cannot be used with this computer". Of course this means I can't tell iTunes not to launch when I connect that device as there are no device-specific settings accessible to me.
Is there any way of forcing iTunes to stop its (frankly silly) behaviour of launching whenever I connect any iOS device?
I've already turned this function off for the three devices I own so if there is a global setting somewhere, I'd appreciate a pointer. Otherwise it looks like I'll need a separate power feed just to charge this one device.
    Thanks,
    Guy

The phone was not properly reset by the previous owner. You can try deleting any profiles on the phone in Settings. If that fails try Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. And if that fails it is probably a stolen phone.

  • I want to sync some apps but itunes says i need to authorise my computer, how do i do this?

i want to sync some apps but itunes says i need to authorise my computer, how do i do this?

    Try:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
Also, are you sure you authorized the right account? Could some media be purchased with another account?

  • I purchased a film but it won't play because iTunes says I need to authorize the computer, but when I do that it says the computer is already authorized. Huh - some system. Any ideas?

  • What do you do when you try and sync your phone and it says you are synced with another computer and u are not?

I am having trouble syncing ringtones and movies

If it says you are synced with another computer, you are synced with another computer. The only alternative is you have wiped and reloaded the computer that you normally sync with, essentially making it a new computer.
Use the search function, this question is asked on a daily basis.

  • IPhon 5 music is gone, was supposedly backed up in iTunes, not there. Have musiic on my ipad, and want to synch to phone,, when I plug into PC, Apple says ipad is synched with another library? How do I get music back to phone?

I had to do a restore on the iPhone - thanks Verizon. Music had been backled up to iTunes via computer and cloud. But it's gone. The music exists on my iPads as well. So when I hook the iPad up to an authorized computer it says it's synched to another library.  ??? How do I get it synched to the iPhone? I have ONE account...don't get it

Music is not included in the iPhone backup, because it is already on your computer, so why duplicate it?
Music can only be synced to one computer at a time, so if you change computers the contents of the iOS device will be replaced by what is on the latest computer.
If you have an iCloud backup and your music is saved to iCloud you can restore it by going to Settings/General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. When this completes it will ask if you want to restore your iCloud content.

  • ITunes won't let me open it up on my desktop - says it is open on another computer

My desktop is not allowing me to play iTunes because it will tell me that it is open on another computer.  I have checked all of my computers as well as tablets and phones and it isn't running.
How do I find where it is running or how to I cancel that other computer that is running iTunes?  Do I just change my password to override it?

ive tried doing what it says but it doesnt work

What version of iPhoto? Of the OS?
exactly what does happen when you tried each of the three suggestions? Include exact error messages
    1  --
Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again.
    2 -
If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed.
    3 -
You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.
Simply telling us you have a problem and that none of the three suggestions worked gives us nothing to go on to assist - we need details, error messages and exactly what happenes for each
