What is wrong with my iphone? recently restored my iphone and now it says "The iphone you connected may be damaged and cannot be activated" it was working before the restore.
Please help

andya, I assume when you say 'activated", you mean with the cell provider...bringing it in to the cell world....here is a kb that is a starting point...

I have just created this account to tell you that nothing would change if you restored your phone.
The first NO SIM nuisance happened just a week ago. Nothing had been done to the phone before that. I pressed HOME + POWER buttons to restart the phone and SIM card was successfully recognized as if nothing had happened. Then I had a lucky week, not reminded of this issue at all.
Today, however, the same problem keeps annoying me. I've used the same method to heal the phone but all I have done seems more like a placebo. So I tried the ultimate solution, restroing it in iTunes.
Ridicuously, the moment I finished basic setup on the newly restored phone, the same NO SIM CARD INSTALLED message poped up.
So IMO, it's not what you should do to erase and restore your phone.
Plus, I called my native carrier and they said no such problems have been submitted. And since my nano SIM card is quite new (three months old), I'm not going to replace it.
I googled this problem and found something on a Hong Kong webpage. The author of that thread points out that there is a flaw in the SIM card tray that prevents the phone from successfully recognizing SIM cards.
And I really hope Apple could probe into this issue and give official solutions other than restarting / restoring the phone like an idiot.

Macintosh HD is damaged and can not be repaired

I have been having problems with my MacPro Book; it had the gray with apple and wouldn't do anything. I followed the direction and now I have Macintosh HD is damaged and can not be repaired. Is there anything I can do at this point?

Reboot while holding down Command + R, see if you can use Disk Utility to erase the drive. If so, reinstall OS X.

Mavericks install failed, says disk is damaged and can't be repaired. Help.

My install failed early in the setup process, and said that my HD is damaged and can't be repaired. It reboots in install mode, I go to disk utility, and can't run repair. I've tried to boot to safe mode, but the progress bar goes about a third of the way and it just powers off, so no way to get in to backup or do anything on this machine. My time machine backup is old, but mostly I just have music that I can redownload from iTunes or re-rip from cd, so not worried about data loss. So do I reformat? How would I get an OS on there again, since there would be no way to boot up or get an OS Download onto that machine? This is the first time I miss the old cd/dvd disk distribution. I'm stumped, any help and guidance is appreciated. It's a MacBook Pro if that matters.

Have you got back to restore from if all else fails?
Try booting from the grey restore disk that came with the Mac: disk in drive and restart holding down the 'c' key. Hopefully it'll boot, albeit slowly. At the first screen select your language and from the menu bar of the next screen choose Utilities>Disk Utility. Select Macintosh HD>Repair Disk. Hopefully DU wil repair the errors. Click on repair disk again until you get a clean pass. Try to restart as normal from the Apple menu.

Muse crashed and afterwards, error message saying site file damaged and will not open

I was working on a muse file when it shut down due to "an error". When I tried to open the file again, it told me that the site was damaged and could not be opened. I have a PC and I would like to know if there is any way I can get the file checked out to see if it is recoverable in any way. I have two versions of the file, the original damaged muse file and a gzip file that I got from recovering some of the files.

This is not a sure sort fix and only if you are comfortable you may try these steps to recover your file :-
1. First, Create a backup copy of your Muse file and then perform the following steps on the copy.
2.Change the extension of the file from .muse to .rar.
4.Open it using the WinRAR application.
5.Winrar throws a warning stating that you attempted to open damaged archive, you can safely Ignore the warning.
6.Go to Tools->Repair Archive. This ensures that the archive and hence, the .muse file is repaired.
7.Change the extension back to .muse.
This is not a sure sort fix but this sometimes helps in recovering files that have got corrupt due to unexpected crash.

Error Message says Preview is damaged and can't be opened.

Whenever I try to open a file associated with Preview by double-clicking the file I get the following error message...
If I open Preview first and then open the same file from within Preview it works fine. I've tried going into Info for various filetypes and changing the "Open with:" value to change it to something else then change it back to Preview but that doesn't change the behavior. As you can see in the error message it says "Acorn created this file on August 27, 2014"... no idea what that means. I tried deleting the Acorn app but get the same error message.
Never seen this before and can't find anything specific to this behavior with Preview on these discussions or on the Web. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know this type of alert can be concerning and frustrating. There is some troubleshooting that I would suggest when you receive an error that an app is damaged and can’t be opened, however. The first attached article explains this alert and the possible cause.
OS X: About Gatekeeper - Apple Support
"Damaged" app. – The app has been altered by something other than the developer. This message will appear no matter the Gatekeeper option chosen.
"App name" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
Safari downloaded this file on Date & Time from URL.
For troubleshooting this situation, I would first recommend simply reinstalling OS X Yosemite on your computer. Please use the instructions located in the next attached article to complete this process.

it's an anti-theft measure DAH Its Not Stolen SO what the crap Then. I wish thay would Remove it From there Ios and Redo it so it Only Locke if you Report it Stolen or enter Lost Mode. BC thers A lot of PPL that abuse it.

IPhone 4 - bought and can not activate

Can anyone out there help me, as I am going around in circles!!!!
Lost my iPhone 4 just before Christmas, insurance company will not cover loss (don't go there!) so I have had to purchase a handset only iPhone 4.
To try and save a bot of money at Xmas, I purchased through a private sale. Phone arrived, no problems and inserted the new microsim O2 had sent for when I got a new phone. Activated sim with O2 and inserted into phone.
The phone I believe has never been used therefore I need to go through the configuration, i.e telling it British, UK region, location services, Wi-Fi networks, then when activating phone it says 'only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier maybe used to activate iPhone. Phoned O2 who say sim is fine and activated, they said it seems the phone maybe blocked.
Went to Apple Store in London, and they said it was purchased in Ireland and therefore maybe blocked by carrier over there. I contacted the guy who sold me the phone and he said although he had not used the phone in Ireland, he had put in an Irish sim to test phone before he sent it to me.
How do I go about unlocking the phone so I can use it?????

ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Most require that you are a current customer with several months of service AT LEAST under your belt before they will unlock, and then there is a charge.
According to this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937 All of the carriers in Ireland offer unlocking. Contact the carrier it is locked to and find out what their requirements are. In some cases, carriers may not unlock phones except for the ORIGINAL purchaser.

Iphone 4 frozen and can not reset by sleep button

my iphone 4 is frozen and I can not reset by pressing sleep button since the spring in it conveniently broke after the warranty ran out. I need help, this is my young daughter phone and she is out of town and she has it with her. Trying to reset it on icloud but it only says to go to your mac computer which I have windows computer to reset the phone. Anybody know what to do?

If you have a Mac computer (I'm not sure if you do or not), try to reset the phone by syncing it with the Mac. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other ways to fix this issue -- the broken spring presents a large problem. You might need to end up going into an Apple store and buying a new phone. You should be able to have the sim card in the current phone be put into the new phone, but since the warranty has run out, you unfortunately will probably not be able to get a replacement phone.

Lost "Encrypt iPhone Backup PW and can not Restore iPhone from iTunes?

Late LATE night attempt to Reset iPhone via USB connection to iTunes ened up insread with me Erasing All Content and Settings from iPhone directly after encrypted back up of phone to Macbook then attempting Restore from Macbook to iPhone. Lost most of my iPhone contacts and still cannot remember or find copy of pw for encrypted backup UNLESS that is because my Macbook is now encrypted with FileVault. I put a copy of the password for encrypting iPhone Backup in my 1password app and am positive it is good is only being rejected because Macbook in now encrypted. All I want is my iPhone contacts. So I am de-encrypting my Macbook now. Kind of in a pickle when you loose the only copy of you resonal contacts. Can anyone help sort this mess out? My level of computer competence is really lacking.
If they would just stop spying so much these things (encryptions, FileVault etc) would not be nessaccary.

The syncing is happening through the cell network not the wifi so it didn't help to turn off the router. Here's what I ended up doing that finally worked:
I restored the backup. Before I could use the phone, it takes me through a few steps. On the icloud step, I actually skipped it, so I didn't enter my password. At that point the phone was usable again so I went to settings>icloud and turned off Contacts. I double checked and my contacts were still on my phone. THen I went to settings>icloud and entered my password and the turned contacts back on. At that point it asked me if I wanted the contacts merged and I said yes. A few minutes later my contacts were still on my phone and I checked my icloud account online and the contacts had been syced there as well. Finally! It worked!

Fellows I had conect my iphone with another itunes, we transfer an appp that was bougth to my iphone. later on when I tried to sync with my own itunes, some apps had disapeard and can not transfer old ones back

After i transfer a app from my wife itunes to mi iphone (wich is usually sync with another pc) some apps had dessapeard and when i went back to sync with my own itunes in my own pc, the apps that shows the itunes on my own account are not transfered to my iphone any more.
Does anybody knows what i havwe done and what i have to do to solve it.
The wors think is that i have lost some files that i have downloaded on the word processor app.
Thinking that i was going to recover it after reinstall again the app, nothing had happen.

What iPhone do you have? You can check in settings>>general>> about.
If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

File keeps saying "damaged and can not be opened" when opened by acrobat pro 7

I can open the file just fine(using reader version 9 or acrobat professional version 9). However, when other people try to open the file with acrobat professional 7, it gives them an error. They are forced open it with acrobat reader.
I changed the version of the file to all lower versions that didn't cause a loss in functionality and ran into the same problems.
Any ideas?

Did a system restore to a past date. That didn't fix the problem. Installed adobe 9.1...didn't fix the problem.
I have Vista 64 bit. HP Pavillion mf9400
Also installed the recommended Adobe Digital thingy...that didn't fix the problem.
So what is the problem? And is there a stupid Vista fix?
