  • Itunes says ipod touch has the latets version but i know it doesnt

Itunes says my ipod touch has the latest software version 4.3.2 when i know it doesnt as latest version is 4.3.3. how can i update it?

OK so here are the direct download links:
    Third generation iPod Touch
    Fourth generation iPod Touch
Download the appropiate one and plug your iPod in to your computer. In iTunes, hit the "Check for Update" button while holding down the Option key. You will see an "Open File" dialog. Locate your .ipsw file and press Enter.
    The update should be accomplished.

  • Problems syncing, iTunes says iPod is synced to another PC

    Hi,
As stated above I'm having problems syncing my iPod touch 5G. It's been a few months since I synced and backed up to my PC but when I connected the iPod to iTunes yesterday, after doing an initial sync, it warned me that the iPod was synced to another computer and that I would have to delete everything in order to sync with this computer (which I've been using for 18 months now with no previous problems when connecting to iTunes; my old PC no longer works so that isn't an option). I noticed after this happened that Music, Photos, and Books were not set to sync, but they had been previously, and I haven't changed anything other than update iTunes to v.11.4, since last backing up a few months ago. I also updated the iPod to v.7.1.2 yesterday too, so could this have any bearing on the problem?
Also I have 9 books which were purchased on the iPod from the iBook store, these are not yet showing in iTunes, and there is no option to Transfer Purchases from iPod to iTunes. If I try to turn sync on in the Books tab, I get the same message as above.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received, Thanks!

From that message it appears you did not restore from backup on this computer/iTunes library.
I just updated/restored my two iOS 7/8 devices that were previously synced to my old computer and they are fine. I had to agree with the option to make this the syncing computer.
With regard to the Backup I selected this option from File/Devices in iTunes, and then restored from that backup, having already synced a few times with this iTunes library, or so I thought!
Are you saying I have to allow all files to be removed in order to re-sync with this computer? I'm happy to do this but worried I'll lose my app data. I'm away for a few days now, so won't be able to sort this until the weekend, many thanks for your replies, they've been a great help!

  • Itunes says Ipod needs to be formatted for windows

I originally loaded my ipod on a windows XP machine. That machine recognizes my ipod, but won't let me write to it. I moved it to another machine and it says that I need to format the ipod for windows. Won't that erase the music on my ipod? Is there any other way to make my pod visible to itunes without formatting it?

  • ITUNES SAYS IPOD IS CORRUPT?!?!

well hello there. ill start from the beginning...
    i own an ipod video....
when i plug my ipod into my computer, this window appears in the upper left hand corner that says "autoplay" with a flashlight that is searching and a progress bar at the bottom. i dont know what this does, or if it the result of anything. so then i proceed to wait for my ipod to be recognized by itunes.
as soon as my ipod is recognized a window pops up telling me my ipod is corrupt and that i will need to restore my ipod. it also tells me that i will lose everything off of my ipod upon restoration.
so i did exactly that. all my files were lost and the restore process worked perfectly. i thought i was in the clear until as soon as the restore finished and itunes recognized my ipod again. the same "corrupt" message popped up again. my ipod was rendered useless because i could not sync it with itunes and all my songs and movies were deleted.
    ...its now two weeks later....
i have tried restoring many times. i have reset my ipod many times. i have reinstalled itunes twice and i have restarted my computer many times. i have also gotten very annoyed.
so this is where you come in to save the day. i have no clue what to do. a possible reason is that my computer has a virus and has been acting wierd. i cant think of anything else to do.
anything to help...any piece of advice...would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. if this has been asked before, don't yell, just show me the way.

Well you think you got problems?
I own the second gen iPod before the clickweel even ccame out. Mine always says corrupt, all i did was run a virus scan through my iPod, there was a virus i accidentally dowloaded. try that, then take your iPod to where you got it from, or call apple. Emailing them stinks, all i get back is a form letter telling me something totally unrelated. My batterry meter is messed up and shuts dows when it reaxhes full power. So i learned one thing. I smacked my iPod real hard in the back and the the batterry came ack to lfe, weird huh?

  • ITunes says iPod is full.  Impossible!    Please help me.

When synched to iTunes my new 60GB iPod is read as near full, in fact it states at the bottom, underneath the scroll bar, that I have used 49GB. Remarkably, directly below that, where it lists the amount of songs, time, and space on my iPod it says that I have 1600 songs, a total of 8.5GB. I cannot imagine why iTunes would issue me a warning saying it would not be able to update the rest of my library as my iPod does not have enough space. Furthermore, I have only backed up less than a gigs worth of documents on my iPod, by simply dragging and dropping into the iPod folder under My Computer. So, the only data on my iPod at this point (to the best of my knowledge) is the original software, my 1GB of information, and my 8.5GB of music. Which means to me, that I should have about 46GB of free space, where is it??!!!
Update: There is a folder I had tried to place on my iPod the other day entitled Music Videos (disk use is enabled), which contained all of 6 videos, due to some error, it stopped transferring. I chose not to try to upload it again, and I went to delete the newly created folder in my iPod's folder. That is all it was, a folder, named Music Videos. 0 Bytes. I would not delete, giving me a very Windows response: "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from source file or disk." Today when I looked at my iPod in My Computer, the Music Video folder has several folders and files in it, with strange encryption (*=╧Φεj.╗σô), and none of them contain anything, or take any space as they are all 0 Bytes. Yet, when I select the Music Video folder and click Properties, it informs me that the folder is 21GB large. When I try to delete the folder I receive the same error message. How is this possible?!

I did, it completely wiped my iPod, except for the folders themselves, and I received an error message at the end of the updater along the lines of 'reformating error.'
Unfortunately, I am still unable to put music, etc. back on my iPod. And this time, iTunes does not recognize my iPod, even though my computer sees it as "Jacen Horns" iPod.
    Also, I share jonathan kelly1's

opinion that iPods are advertised to work completely with USB 2.0, and I should not have to go out and buy a new PCI card, plus docking port. Not to mention, I already have a new powered Firewire/USB 2.0 PCI card, and nothing else is plugged into it, and I have tried every port (also, I reinstalled my card into another slot, just in case).
I am going to see a Genius on Wednesday, just to see if they can resolve my problems. I'll keep everybody posted on the outcome.

  • ITunes saying iPod over capacity, iPod says different

Yesterday I accidentally deleted all of my podcasts.  I spent a considerable amount of time rebuilding everything, and as the delete happened, it deleted all of them off of my iPod Classic as well.
After rebuilding all of the stuff in iTunes, I went back to sync and it keeps saying the iPod is full.  Well, there are no podcasts in there which the thing was full of them before, and the iPod itself says there is 12GB of free space.  iTunes just keeps saying it is over capacity and the number keeps climbing.
I have reset the iPod (confirm button + menu) and rebooted the iMac, so memories should be cleared.  I'm stumped.
iPod Classic is version 5.5, iMac is latest Sandy Bridge version, iTunes 10.4.1.

    Which iPod is this?
You may want to format the iPod.

  • ITunes says iPod needs recovery, no iPod connected

Whenever I start iTunes 11.0.1.12 I get a message that reads, "iTunes has detected an iPod that may be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.  You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod." It displays a picture of an iPod classic and a page titled iPod Recovery Mode with my iPod's serial number and a button that says Restore iPod.
But my iPod classic is not connected. Sometimes it freezes on this page and I have to force shut iTunes to use it.
Any ideas about how I can make this stop?
    Thank you.

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive

  • ITunes saying iPod is using more GB than it is when syncing.

i'm using a 30GB iPod video, the latest version of iTunes, and windows XP.
i have reset and restored my ipod, reinstalled iTunes, restarted my computer, and even changed the USB port of the cable.
When i attempt to sync my now empty iPod, it tells me i'm trying to use about 33GBs of space when i only have about 27GBs available.
however, when i go to 'My Music', it tells me i only have 23GBs.
i only have 3 podcasts ready to sync and no video.
    any help? :\

hello. I just upgraded to iTunes 8.0 and am suddenly having the same problem. I also have a 30gb ipod video and am running windows XP.
I was able to sync no problem even earlier today -- only started getting the error once I installed 8.0.
Did you find a way to solve your problem?

  • HT201210 Trying to update iTunes; says "iPod could not be updated because the firmware file is not compatible." What does this mean????

I was syncing my iPod and got the message that an update was available. I downloaded the update and just as it was almost finished, I got an error message. It couldnt' update my iPod because the "firmware file is not compatible." What's up with this? I've never had any problems before with this iPod or with my iPhone 4S before this.

Update your iTunes to latest version.
Try restoring your phone in DFU Mode, if that doesn’t work then try downgrading your iTunes back to iTunes 8 and try again.

  • Itunes saying ipod is corrupted

I just downloaded the latest version of itunes, and it tells me my ipod is corrupted, message 1418. It would not let me restore my ipod, showing me yet another error message. I can't figure out what is wrong. I restored my ipod at a friends house, but it's still showing the same problem on my computer. I have no idea what to do! someone please help! Everything worked fine till this version of itunes came out!

Some people have had success trying the fix mentioned here.
    Error 1418.
"showing me yet another error message."
You must be more specific about which error message. There are so many.

  • HT4623 iTunes says ipod touch is up-to-date (ios 4.2.1). How do I override this and download ios 5?

    I had an ipod touch
My ipod touch had iso 5
I bought a computer a year ago and got another ipod touch
I gave second ipod touch to my mother
    My mother never used it
    My ipod touch broke
Mother sent me the ipod I gave her previously
She never updated it to ios 5
    I want iso 5
Ipod does not have an update button under general settings
itunes claims that ios 4.2.1 is the most up-to-date and will not download ios 5
    What do I do?
    Thanks!

Look at the back of the iPod. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. The 2nd generation iPod touch is model A1288, and 3rd generation iPod touch is model A1318. If you have a second-generation iPod touch, the last release of iOS is can run is 4.2.1.

    Done a restore yet?
    Is it charged up?
Is it convenient for you to get to an Apple store for help, or to do an exchange for another unit?
