ITunes says it cannot find my songs...
My itunes library is on an external HDD. I've gone to edit>preferences and made sure the itunes media library is set to this place. I had no issues last week but today i've turned itunes on, and it cannot find any of the songs even though they are in the same place.
Any song I click on it says "itunes cannot find the file would you like to locate it". Is there a way that you can get itunes to search and assign everything for you? Its confusing me...
When you first told iTunes where to look for your library (i.e. on an external drive as opposed to the default) that drive would have been assigned a drive letter by your computer. Now, is the external drive given the same letter as before? If not, that's why you have a problem.
This can happen if you have something else connected as well, a camera or USB printer for instance. If the "camera" was given the drive letter previously used by your external drive, the external drive would have to be given a different letter.
Actually, another thing, if the external drive is not connected to your computer _and ready for use_ when you start up iTunes, then iTunes will automatically revert to the C:drive.

I have songs that I have either downloaded or ripped from discs that i"Tunes now says they cannot find them. I have not done anything to move them or any thing else. When I go to find them I find a folder but these are empty.
im presuming that you ar ebringing up the artist folder within your music folder somewhere and it doesnt have the songs you want?
if so, the newly downloaded songs might not be in folders yet and could be at the very bottom of the music folder which has all of your artists?
alternatively, you could bring up your start menu and do a search for one of the songs, then right click open containing folder and go from there. -
My first taste of this Apple is horrible! I cannot do the inital sync successfully. Its gets to the 4th stage of syncing where it is copying songs and tells me there are over 100 songs it cannot find. Why not? They show up in my Itunes media file so why can they not be found? Then the syncing ends with a message "Attempting to copy to the disc "Doug's Ipod" failed. An error occurred while reading from the device"

I was on 10.5.8 so I ordered the disc from apple, it cost £13. This updated me to 10.6.3, and from there you can do a free upgrade from the apple website to 10.6.8. And I now actually have the problem solved, I just had to restore the iPhone in iTunes and it synced correctly. Looks like it was a little glitch in the phone!

When I first downloaded itunes 7.1 songs would not play because itunes could not find them. I tried to import my library to itunes and even after trying to restore the songs by following the instructions for recreating my itunes library itunes said not all songs where imported because they could not be found. What the heck is going on I am at my wits end and super frustrated because I am sure there is an easy solution.

I am having the same problem. When I access by iTunes Library or Purchased music, it directs me to former libraries and they still won't play. I understand that Apple no longer monitors Discussions. We should all send feedback. -
ITunes says it cannot find the files I want to file share from my iPad
I have the Freegal app on my iPad. I was able to transfer music from this app to my computer once before, but now I just keep getting an error message that the files to share cannot be found. Sometimes it says the error code is 0x00000000. When I go to file sharing in iTunes and select the app, the file folder shows, but it won't save to my computer. What do I do next?
That's the problem. When using a referenced library the source files must be place in a permanent location before adding to the library and not move afterward. Unless you can restore the source files to the locater where the were when the photos were added to the library they are gone.
That's the biggest problem with running a referenced library. Check that box and use a managed library from now on.

For some unknown reason my application "Remote" no longer works. I deleted it from my phone. Signed out of Itunes and back in. Turned back on home sharing and all that jazz but it says it cannot find my itunes library. Is anyone else having this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thx.

I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?) touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

Having problems using ION tape express with itunes. The song is on hard drive as temp1 not the name of the song. And I have problems playing it in itunes
because it says it cannot locate the song'Then correct the name of the song or point iTunes to the new file.
Issues with restoring should be directed to the manufacturer of the backup software/device... this is not an Apple or iTunes issue. -
Since the latest ITunes update I cannot find all the CD songs I had converted into playlists. All I can find are the songs I bought on ITunes.
