ITunes says it syncs, but it doesn't

I just recently had to restore my iPod, and now all my software is up to date. But now I'm trying to put my music back on there, and it won't work. It looks like it syncs up fine, but my iPod keeps saying that I have no content on it. Can anyone help me figure out what the problem is?

Are you running the latest version of iTunes? Did you already try to remove and reinstall iTunes?

  • I restored my ipod and now when I try to sync it says it syncs but it doesn't...what do I do?

I tried to sync my ipod to itunes but it said i needed to restore my ipod. So I restored my ipod deleting everything on it. I origionally planned to make a cd from my second library of all the songs that i wanted on my first library from the second library, but itunes won't add my songs to my library. I have no idea what's going on!  I have two itunes libraries with all of my music, so I have everything...i just need to get it all onto my ipod.  Now when i go to either one of the libraries and try to sync it says it syncs but it really doesn't. None of my songs transferred to my ipod and I honestly don't know what to do. Help please:(

Are you following the instructions here. You many not have the correct boxes/music checked.

Also, you can only sync with one iTunes library. However, you can manage music an video among different iTunes libraries/computers.
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers

  • Itunes says it synced but nothing plays on shuffle

I just got a new shuffle for my husband and tried to load the music he wanted.  iTunes says it's synced, but when I plug in the headphones, the voice says to use iTunes to load music.  So apparently, iTunes didn't sync.  I've plugged it back in to the iMac and tried again (twice), but it just says it's synced and can be disconnected.  In iTunes, if I click on "on this ipod", it shows everything I want on it.  Still no music playing, however.

    Hi pic-chic,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you want to sync music to your iPod shuffle. After you click on your iPod in iTunes and then click on the Music pane and select the music you want on your device, make sure to select Apply in the bottom right hand corner. Please use the following article as a reference.
iTunes: Syncing media content to iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351
    Syncing music
Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
Click the button with your device's name, below the Spotlight window.
In the main iTunes browser window, select Music.
Select Sync Music. You can select "Include music videos" if you want to sync Music videos to your device.
Your device needs to have enough free space to sync the content that you selected from your library.
Tip: You can use the capacity bar at the bottom of the device settings window to see how much free space is available. The window will update with an estimate as you select content.
Click Apply. iTunes will sync the content you selected to your device. The iTunes LCD will show the sync progress and notify you when the sync is complete.
To disconnect your device, find your device in iTunes and click the eject icon.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • After the latest iTunes update, itunes says it syncs but never removes anything.

Is anyone else seeing this issue. I have match turned off to begin. When I sync it syncs in name only. I remove things off the of either itunes or the iPad2 and it syncs right back. I tell it to remove things and they don't go. It is very frustrating because I am using up and running out of space and it is being caused by all thing old stuff I cannot successfully dump. Anyone else seeing anything like this.

Yes. It is strange. When I removed apps for example I would remove and iTunes would say the app is still found do you want to import. Yes and it syncs or no and it removes them. After the last update it no longer does that. I should say that it is completely hit or miss and it almost appears completely random as to what it does. Best example. I had 6 magazines loaded. I removed them in iTunes and it did not remove them off the iPad2. Then I went in and removed them manually and one of them synced itself back to iTunes. Just 1. I checked and I do not have match turned on either.
Makes it feel like delete is a polite request that iTunes may or maybe listen to.

  • HT1296 I all ready installed itunes to my pc, which is a windows 7. It says it syncs, but it doesnt transfer nothing from my iphone to the computer. How can I fix this issue

And it won't by design and intention since you are not syncing your iPhone with your iTunes library on your computer.
If you have authorized the computer with your iTunes account with iTunes, with your iPhone connected - at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

  • My apple tv is saying its syncing but actually doing nothing

i have the apple tv with nothing on top of it and it resting on four empty shot glasses to create airflow. it shows up in itunes. everytime, in itunes when i hit "sync" button it says it cant see the apple tv, check my firewall (its in the most permissive settings (allow all incoming, os x 10.5.8), my airport extreme has no password and guest access allowed) then in about 5 seconds it sees it and starts saying its syncing but actually doing nothing. any ideas on what to do? i ran 50foot of cat-e cable, no difference hooking it up that way.
help? a boxee box would work but i REALLY want this solution. REALLY!!!!!!

would any of these possible attacks by my 75 year old neighbors with no kids living at home affect my apple tv but not my airport system in general?
It could be RF interference from their hearing aids or pacemakers.
Seriously, though, there could be RF interference from other sources, like other electronic equipment in your house or if there are any radio transmitters nearby. The only certain solution for ATV wifi problems is to use an Ethernet cable.
i can file transfer 22-26MBPS down and 3 up over the airport in other conditions (bandwidth speed meters). my airport extreme uses afp and FTP to transfer files blazingly fast, so fast it makes me blush. my apple tv. now. we do own a micro. it does get used every other day or so. could that be it? when not used on another floor it somehow interferes? my AV system a few feet away has an am and fm band capabilities on it although i do not think they have ever been used. on my airport extreme i have the "use interference robustness" box checked. i can sit next to my apple tv with my laptop an get great speeds.
so. i am still confused. could it just be the apple tv is telling me a new an improved one is coming out soon that i get to buy so i stop being an irritated jerk my wife hates using he tv with cuz my "apple tv toy" doesnt work right?
    thanks for your thoughts

  • After updating to ios 5, my calendar sometimes freezes when entering a new event. I have tried syncing but it doesn't fix the problem. Are there any bug fixes for this? Any ideas would be great thanks, I don't really want to have to reset everything!

Try to reset the iPod by  pressing the home and sleep button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data doing a reset, but it can clear some glitches after installing new software or apps.

  • HT203167 Cant find downloaded rental film. ITunes says its downloaded but nothing in download screen

Cant find downloaded rental film. ITunes says its downloaded but nothing in download screen

If you've downloaded it on the iPad then it should be in the Videos app (iTunes on the iPad is just the iTunes store) :
If you can't find it in there then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding it ?

  • Itunes says ipad sync with other library but i downladed everything directly from the ipad.

hello,  I downloaded all apps directly throught the ipad as I wasn't sure how itunes worked (i tried but couldn't). Now I'm trying to sync it and it say it is allready sync with another library and that I will loose all apps. I have all passwords but don't really now where to use them. And I dont really wat to pay all the apps again. What can I do?
    Thanks

Is your computer authorized with your iTunes account with iTunes?
If so, with your iPad connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPad.
Now you should be able to select Sync Apps under the Apps tab making sure all apps below are selected before syncing.
You can re-download purchased apps without having to purchase the apps again.

  • Sync from iTunes says everything OK but no content appears in the iPod :-((

I think everything's up to date on my Mac:
    - iTunes 8.1 (50)
    - iPod nano 8 Go 4th gen with software 1.1.3
    And now my problem.
When I connect the iPod to the Mac, iTunes recognizes it no pb. I can sync content (manualy or auto): from inside iTunes, all is ok. Music appears as music, videos as videos, etc.
After ejecting the iPod, I've got no music no video… nothing but the "other" category pretending to store anything I've synced.
If I connect the iPod back to the Mac, the sync process starts again. iTunes says everything's ok. After having ejected the iPod, I see no more music nor video. But the "other" category has doubled in size!!!
I've tried to restore initial settings many times with iTunes and got the same result each time.
I've even formatted the iPod with Disk Utility then reinstalled the 1.1.3 soft through iTunes. And the whole thing runs the same way.
    Any suggestion or workaround?

If the content is in your media folder, which it should be, you have will lost any ratings, playcounts or playlist changes you've made since the backup database was created, but not the media itself. All your newly added media can imported to the library with File, Add Folder to Library, <Media Folder>.
If for some reason content has really been lost from the computer it may be possible to recover it using the tips in Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device as given in the original linked post.

  • ITunes won't sync but iPod working...?

I downloaded the most recent iTunes and tried to sync my iPod (an 80 gig with video, fyi). iTunes said it needed to restore, that the iPod was corrupt, etc.; I did as it said and waited for the iPod to restart... just to have iTunes say it needed to restore again. After repeating the process a few times I unplugged the iPod and found that it was asking for a language and that it showed the menu options and the games worked, but because it had been restored there was no music on it. Now iTunes won't sync it but the iPod itself is turning on and doesn't show any music (except for, you know, the lack of music.)
It is important to know, I guess, that my iPod hasn't been working perfectly lately; she's been freezing up, won't play some songs, working sluggishly... Last night she was particularly diifficult and after restarting a few times refused to play more than one or two songs (before freezing.)
I can't think of any time I've dropped her from anymore than a few inches off whatever surface, and every time she was in her case so I doubt that had anything to do with it...
Can anyone help? I thought it might just be a problem with the new iTunes so I don't want to send her in for service just yet, but the sooner she's fixed, the better.
Thank you ver much in advance!

    Hi there,
Have you tried the 5 R's that Apple recommend trying?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303940
It sounds like you could do with going through them - make sure that you have the very latest iTunes software before starting.
    I hope this helps.

  • When I press install button for apps, it says will install but it doesn't. What do I do?

I have downloaded some apps on iTunes and after downloading I try to install them on my iPod Touch 2G 8GB and it says "will install" but it syncs and does not install. How can I overcome this? PLEASE HELP!!!

Are the apps compatible with the iOS version that you have on your iPod ? If they require a higher version than the 4.2 on your tagline then you won't be able to install them

  • I purchased a movie from itunes on my ipad but it doesn't show up in my library.  It shows up in my history of purchases when I open that page but it is not noted in the list of purchases with all my other purchases.  Any idea why?

I purchased a movie from itunes on my regular ipad but it doesn't show up in my library.  I am able to view it via my movies icon on the Ipad I used when purchasing it but it does not show up in my purchases listing to download to my ipad mini.  Also if I access my itunes account it does not show up in the history of purchases listing like all my other purchases but it does show up when i open that page at the very top; separate form the list.  I've tried everything to get it to show up so I can download/view it on my ipad mini.

    Hi adtsalmon,
You can only watch the movie on the device you rented it on. Here's a snippet from the Apple Support site (italics mine):
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Here's the link to the Movie Rentals FAQs site FYI:

    Hope this helps!
