ITunes says my iPad 2 is over capacity with videos but I've removed them all when syncing. Please help. Have restored it too-didn't work

It's been this way for days. Restoring doesn't seem to work.

If you are sure that the videos have been removed from the iPad - Have you tried restarting the iPad or resetting it?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

    Hi. I saw someone posted about there iPhone last night and added my question there, but since I've not had a response I will create a new question.
    I went to sync my iPad yesterday and I got an error saying it was "over capacity." I checked online and saw many discussions about the Other folder (for lack of a better name), so checked the information on how to overcome this. None of the solutions helped so I did a Restore. The iPad set up again and I went to sync, but I get the same error. Not it claims I am 1.8 GB "over capacity." In reality, I am trying to sync about 7 GB of data on an iPad with over 13 GB of free space. I tried updating iTunes (done), checked for an update to the iPad (I have the latest version of the OS), and tried rebooting both the computer and the iPad. I still get the same error.
    How can I get iTunes to sync my data?

    Are you sure it's not iCloud that's "over capacity".
    How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.

  • Turned on Itunes Match, now Itunes says my Ipad is over capacity

    So, today I turned on Itunes Match and let it run while I slept.  When I woke up, it was finished.
    Problem is, now my 64-gig Ipad is 49gig over capacity, according to Itunes... even though I use the "convert music to 128kpps AAC" option and it used to be able to hold my entire music collection, now it apparently won't anymore.
    Anyone know how to fix this?

    I'm using my iPad as we speak, and under the "Music" screen in Settings, the "iTunes Match" option is off.  I also looked under "iCloud" in Settings and there is no option to sync music. 
    All my music syncing is down via iTunes, which is where I've selected the option to use the 128k music for my iPad.  I would think that no other setting would be able to override that, since I deliberately selected it...
    The size of my music collection shouldn't have changed unless I'm misunderstanding how this works.  My music is on my computer at home, and it's that music that is synced to my iPad.  Unless I missed something, the new 256k music is available on my devices but not my PC at home.  While it's turned on on my iPhone so I can stream my music, it's off on my iPad.  So I still don't understand how my iPad can suddenly be over-capacity since I'm syncing to the exact same music collection as always... seventy-nine gigs worth, 5500ish songs... it should be compressed down to thirty-nine gigs at 128k for my iPad... at least, that's how it's worked for the past year or so...

    Did you try to reset by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?

    I have a MacBook with Tiger and iChat v.3.1.5 and my wife has a PowerBook G4 with Panther and iChat 2.1.
    On the MacBook there is this video camera and it seems to be working properly. On the PowerBook there is a DV Sony camera attached via Firewire. Both cameras are working and we are able to see and hear each other with Skype 1.5 beta (downloaded on both computers) The image is at times a bit jerky but is usable ( I guess this is because of our internet speed, I think some 512 MB/s).
    I have been trying to get iChat to work but somehow I did not understand how to set it up. There is a wizard ofering either a .Mac account or some AIM (what is this?). I do not want to use the .Mac account (my wife does not have one and mine is only a trial) and do not know what this AIM is. I tried to put my email data into it but it does not work. There is also this bonjour protocol which the computer keeps asking if I would like to use?.
    Right now I am at home and have access to both computers. Can you please explain how I can get iChat to work?
    PS. How do I put myself into my wife´s buddy list and viceversa?

    I got some help from Apple support and here I paste for you some details that might be helpful.
    Ports to open for Mac OS X firewall 
When using the built-in Mac OS X firewall, you only need to open these ports: 5060, 5190, 5297, 5298, 5678, 16384 through 16403

Tip: If you don't want to bother, a simple workaround is to temporarily turn off the firewall on each computer.
    To chat with the Mac OS X Firewall active, follow these steps to add the necessary ports:
    • 1. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences. 
    • 2. From the View, choose Sharing. 
    • 3. Click the Firewall tab. 
    • 4. Click New. 
    • 5. From the Port Name pop-up menu, choose Other. 
    • 6. In the Port Number, Range or Series field, type in: 
    • 5060, 5190, 5297, 5298, 5678, 16384-16403
    • 7. In the Description field type in: iChat AV 
    • 8. Click OK.
    Ports to open for third-party firewalls
    A "simple" firewall only allows you to open or close ports, without any additional criteria. If you have one of these, then you should open these ports:
    5060, 5190, 5220, 5222, 5298, 5353, 5678, and 16384 through 16403.
    If that does not work, try opening all ports from 1024 to 65535.
    Note:
    • 1. All iChat AV traffic is UDP except for ports 5190 and 5298, which need to be open for both TCP and UDP; and 5220 and 5222, which need to be open for TCP only.
    • 2. Ports 5297, 5298, and 5353 are used only for local traffic. Opening these ports may be necessary for firewall software that runs on a computer, rather than on a router. These ports do not need to be open at your uplink to the Internet.
    • 3. The Mac OS X firewall found in the Sharing preference pane filters only TCP packets. For this reason, most of the ports listed here do not need to be opened at the Mac OS X firewall.
    • 4. Some router-specific features or configurations may interfere with iChat AV. This includes port mapping on either end, SIP rewriting, SIP dropping, or dynamic opening of media ports.
    • 5. This document lists all ports used by iChat AV, not just those used by audiovisual content. A list of individual port functions can be found in technical document 106439, "'Well Known'TCP and UDP Ports Used By Apple Software Products".
    • 6. For firewall issues specific to file transfer, see technical document 107476, "iChat: Cannot Send or Receive a File When Firewall Is Active".

    Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

    I had restored my iPhone 5 to factory settings and that cleared the problematic "Other" problem.  Flash forward a couple weeks and the problem has once again resurfaced.
    I tried updating iTunes and iOS to the newest versions and the problem still persists.
    I'm officially ready to switch to Windows Phone or Android now...

  • ITunes shows iPad 2 over capacity

    Everytime I sync my ipad 2 itunes shows it as being over capacity, but it is not.
    If I check under settings on the ipad, it shows that there is over 6 GB free space.
    I have tried a reset, but that did NOT work.
    I really don't want to have to restore.

    wlan is powered by a Time Capsule (2nd generation I think).
    It happens when I try to sync using wireless. The sync process then eventually stops with an error message.
    Attaching the iPhone to the cable yields the same no success result. See screenshot.
    Leaving the iPhone on the cable and restarting iTunes cures the problem. I can then sync using the cable.
    Detaching the iPhone from the sync cable and sync again using wireless works.
    (But it likely won't again once my iPhone as left my internal wlan for a while)
    I've the same problem with my iPad 3 iOS 6.0.1 too.

    I too have been having this issue since about 12/14.  That is around the same time I got the Ipad for my kids.  I am unsure if it is related.  I have tried logging out of icloud/deleting it and trying again.  Removing most of the apps to sync.  I reset my router.  All of the attempts have produced zero results.  I will be anxiously watching this thread for some help.  Good luck to you also
