Itunes says my ipod is corrupted

I updated to the latest itunes and now it tells me that my ipod is corrupted. Tried  restoring it but without success.

Hi calicerebro,
If iTunes on your computer is reporting corruption in your iPod nano, you may need to restore the iPod to factory settings. Use the steps in this article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Itunes says my ipod is corrupt. it's not my intunes is. How do I fix it?

My ipod nano was corrupt and I restored it and even took it to the apple store to see cause it still was not working. It worked fine there and they even put sample music on it. I came home and tried putting all my music from itunes on it and it still says my ipod is corrupt I think its my computer and/or itunes. My itunes is even coming up with like a pink/purple background and it doesn't look right.
I reinstalled itunes and everything already and still nothing.
If anyone can help that would be extremely appreciated.

  • Itunes say my Ipod is corrupt

Itunes is saying my Ipod is corrupt when I plug it in. It says I should restore it but every time I try to it doesn't allow me to. I unplugged it to look at my song, and there is none, no music, videos or pictures. What do I do?

Hi gawc'n (and greg so cal),
Try this (in the first step, disconnect your iPod before proceeding):
    1. Force your iPod into disk mode, following the instructions found in this article.
    2. With your iPod in disk mode, now connect it to your computer.
    3. If iTunes still shows the "Corrupt" error message, then let's proceed onto running a disk error check on your iPod. For information on "chkdsk" (what it is typically called here), see this MS document:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
    4. After that is complete, it would be best to restore your iPod in iTunes again.

  • Why is iTunes saying my iPod is corrupted and how do I fix it?

I got a new computer for work, downloaded iTunes and connected my iPod classic (20GB). I added a few songs to my library before I connected the iPod. Once connected, my iPod appeared but after trying to transfer music an error occured. iTunes stated my iPod was corrupted and it asked if I wanted to reset it, which would wipe my iPod clean.
I checked my Ipod's functionality and it was working fine. I tried connecting it to a couple other computers I use and it still worked fine. In the meantime, I uninstalled all of the iTunes programs and reinstalled everything. I connected the iPod again and the same problem occured.
I do not think I transferred any corrupted songs onto my iPod; it has been working fine. I really do not want to erase my iPod and start from scratch unless that is the only solution. I am just not sure why my iPod is not working with this specific computer...it is brand new! When I connect the iPod now, it appears sometimes but it always ends the same. The computer also asks if I want to scan the E drive (the drive the iPod is connected to).
    Thoughts?

+The computer also asks if I want to scan the E drive (the drive the iPod is connected to).+
That it almost surely due to some security software/antivirus stuff that was installed by corporate.
Ask your IT folks about getting itunes running on this PC and make sure it's allowed by your company.

  • ITunes says my iPod is corrupted and needs to be restored..

Ok, when I started up my computer today and opened iTunes to listen to my songs, it gives me an error message that my iPod is corrupted and needs to be restored before I can use it again. I've tried using different programs to back up my songs on my iPod to my computer but it's not working because my computer is also saying that disk J: (the usb port my iPod uses) needs to be reformatted, so I can't do anything with it out of iTunes..
What it's looking like is that I'm going to lose ALL the songs on my iPod (around $600 worth) and I'm not going to get anything back..
So what do I do to fix this problem without losing all of the songs I've bought?

    Hello CoulntThinkOfAUser,
If you purchased the songs from the itunes store you wouldn't really loose anything. This is how to recover all of your previous purchases.
    How to download past purchases.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes says my iPod is corrupt

iTunes (7.02) says my iPod (nano) is corrupt and must be restored. I accepted this at face value and followed the instructions to initialize and reset my iPod and nothing got better.
So, I tried my wife's shuffle and iTunes is saying it's corrupt also.
I've tried 3 different USB ports to eliminate that as the problem.
    Help please.

You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. To make this your syncing computer:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities

When I want to get an app, an error message comes up saying I need 3.0 software update.  How do I get my ipod updated in itunes, when itunes says my ipod is already updated?
OR if I cannot update to software 3.0, how can I find apps that will work just for my ipod touch?

It sounds like you have a 1G iPod Touch, in which case you can only upgrade to iOS version 3.1.  Here is a link to purchase the update.

My iTunes says my iPod touch 3rd Gen is up to date with iOs 4.2.1, how do I get the new iOs 5?

You must update your iTunes software to 10.5 first then you can upgrade to iOS 5.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
According to Apple the iPod touch 3rd gen can update to iOS 5.
"iCloud requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; a Mac computer with OS X Lion; or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 or an up-to-date browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars). Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices."

    (apologies for barging in, lllass.)
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

itunes says my ipod is synched but all I get on the ipod itself is a blank white screen. i can't get to the menu. Help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
