ITunes says my iPod is synced but songs are not appearing.

I had to start all over with my iPod because all of my files were erased. I downloaded a bunch of new songs and videos and when I sync my iPod, a message appears saying that three of the files cannot be copied. I used to get that before too, so no big deal. But when I look on my iPod, the songs are not there. It is not telling me that it cannot be synced and the bar at the bottom of the preferences page or w/e says that I have 1.60 GB of music, 795.1 MB of video, and 25.42 MB of 'other'. I have already authorized this computer. Why won't it sync properly?

iTunes can "sync" an iPod, and not transfer any songs.  You may need to set up or update automatic syncing in iTunes for the iPod.  Otherwise, syncing may sync nothing.
First, if the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  When connected, the iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES.
Second, when you set up automatic syncing, the iPod's existing content is replaced.  Any songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.  Is that OK?  If that's a problem, please post back.
Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar.  To the right, the iPod's Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  This setting enables automatic syncing.  If your iTunes music library can fit on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Then, "everything" (that is music) syncs to the iPod when you click Apply.  Going forward, any changes to the music library sync automatically to the iPod, at the next opportunity.
Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlist, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) what you want on the iPod from the lists below.  For example, you can have playlists in your iTunes library with songs you want on the iPod.  On the iPod's Music screen, select those playlists under Playlists.  When you click Apply, the songs in your selections sync to the iPod.  Going forward, to update your iPod, update those playlists in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time the iPod is connected (or when you click Sync if already connected), iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes automatically.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you would like to sync music to your iPhone, you will need to use iTunes on your computer, and then follow the directions in the article linked to below.

  • IPod is showing duplicates of songs, but songs are not duplicated in iTunes.

iPod touch is showing duplicates of songs, but songs are not duplicated in iTunes... any ideas how to fix? Tried resyncing, didn't work.

I'm fishing slightly but you may have casing inconsistenices in artist or album names that cause the iOS firmware to see more than one instance of the album but with each getting all the tracks. Merging stuff in iTunes via sort fields may also have unintended consequenses on the device. Could you post back a screenshot or decribe the symptoms more fully, ie. exactly which menu screen you are in on the iPod, what is repeated etc. The songs menu for example can correctly list more than one copy of a song if it appears on different albums.

  • Itunes says my ipod is synched but the screen on the ipod is just white. can't see the menu - help!

itunes says my ipod is synched but all I get on the ipod itself is a blank white screen. i can't get to the menu. Help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Several of my purchased songs are not appearing in my laptop itunes

I purchased them via itunes app on my iphone, but many are not appearing on my laptop's itunes program. I have synced my phone and laptop several times. Any idea how I can fix this?

    Hello, cimartin.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This could be a result of Automatic Downloads not being enabled.  The best option would be to download the missing music via the steps in the second article below.

  • The artist names are correct in itunes but they are not appearing on iphone4

The artists names are appaering in iTunes but they are not appearing on my iPhone

Just right click the song and select "Get Info". Under "Info" tab, in the "Album Artist" part, make sure it is the name of the artist you want. Also works when selecting multiple songs if all the same artist.

  • I am trying to send photos to the cloud from my phone to my iPad but they are not appearing in the stream. I have read the instructions and I think I am doing it right or am I missing a part of the process?

I am trying to send photos to the cloud from my phone to my iPad but they are not appearing in the stream. I have read the instructions and I think I am doing it right or am I missing a part of the process?

    HI,
Have you done this before ? And if so, is photo stream turned on on your iphone and ipad. and as Alfred DeRose pointed out they must both on the same icloud account.
If you're new to this, you might want to do some research. Photo stream is different from camera roll and albums. Many have been on this sight looking for their photos stored in icloud after restore, etc. and they're not there. Also, after thirty days icloud deletes your photos from photo stream.
So if you're not aware, you might want to google your question. We're using the camera connection kit soon and I am learning about it. From all I've read, I'm also not the biggest icloud fan. I use dropbox. We plan to put photos taken on ipad with a camera/iphones into albums on the ipad. We'll keep all on the sd card until (and after) they can be uploaded to a computer.
An example of an article we can learn from -

    Hope this helps.

  • I had to format my HD, now iTunes says my iPOD is sync'd with another computer.  How do I get my iPOD's music back in to the library and sync it with the computer again?

I had to format my computers hard drive.  Now the iTunes thinks my iPOD is sync'd with another computer.  How do I get re-sync the iPOD and computer and get my songs on the iPOD back in to the iTunes library.  Thanks!

Can't tell you exactly, as it can be used to facilitate piracy and Apple blocks this sort of thing from occuring (except for itunes purchased music)
But you can find out what your looking for at iLounge, i'd suggest that method for "mixed" music from different sources, that way you get it all back.
Next time, hit the iTunes menu and backup your library to disks, only takes a few minutes and a few DVD-R's.
    Good Luck

  • Itunes says the songs are synced, but they are not on the ipod.

I recently erased everything off of my computer because it had a virus. I'm pretty sure this is why this has happened, but I have no idea how to fix it.
What's happened is my iPod has over 100 songs on it, but when connected to the computer it says it has zero. I figured "no big deal." But it was. When I went to sync my songs onto my iPod, something happened. From iTunes, when I click on my iPod to view the songs, it has only the ones that I had just synced. Then when I unplugged my iPod to listen to them, the newly synced songs weren't there.
I have no idea why uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes did this, since I've done that before when I was having problems with my computer. I would just use a different computer, but none are very convienient and it was a lot of songs that I tried to sync, so I'd have to import all of those into the other computer's library.
I really don't want to have to restore my iPod if there's another way to fix this problem, because I don't want to do that if it won't definitely work. I have a lot of songs there that are no longer in my library (backed up and still on the external server, but its a lot to import individually.) that are on my iPod that I would still like to have on it.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me. I have no clue what's wrong...

This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.

  • When I try to transfer songs from itunes library to ipod touch it says sync in progress but songs are not on my ipod touch?

When I  transfer music from itunes library to my ipod touch, it says sync in progress on ipod touch, however, the songs don't show up on ipod touch. I have transferred songs in the past with no problem.  Not sure what is different now or what I'm doing wrong-I am very new at this and any help is greatly appreciated.

How is your iPod configured to sync music? In other words, what options and configurations do you have enabled from under your iPod's Summary and Music tabs in iTunes?

  • Windows reinstall and itunes saying my ipod is sync'd with the old itunes.

    Hi folks.
I suffered a catastrophic failure with with PC and was forced to reinstall XP afresh - everything backed up so no big issue.
I have my ipod library on a flash stick (it's quicker, and safer should your machine fall over!).
I reinstalled itunes, authorised the machine and pointed it to the existing music library on the flash stick. All easy enough.
The problem I now have is that when I try to sync the ipod I get a message saying that the ipod is sync'd to another machine.
Is there a way I can get itunes to accept my ipod and sync without having to change the ipod setting to "manual - use as disc". This isn't the first time I've encountered this problem following a system reinstall. The last time this happened (about 18months ago) and I allowed itunes to erase and reinstall my music library to it I lost all the play lists.
    thanks
