Itunes says my PC is not connected to the internet...

Hi!
I've searched a few topics already and cannot find one with a similiar problem.
I have a Laptop which is connected to the internet via a 4 port modem. Its the second piece of equipment that is connected to the internet from this modem (the first is a normal PC).
I am trying to restore my Ipod (because absolutely NOTHING works. cannot reset, watch videos, podcasts etc). When i try to restore my IPOd it says "iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the Internet. Make sure your Internet Connection is active and try again."
Well I am using the internet right now... Quite frustrating! I simply want to restore my ipod and im quite sure that wont even fix the problem.
Please if any1 has had the same problem/having the same problem id love some help! thanks very much.

Take a look at this Apple article which appears to cover your problem:

  • HT1349 iTunes says that I am NOT connected to the Internet, but I AM connected to the internet.  I've reinstalled itunes, but no change.

What do I do to correct this problem?  I've also used the restore feature on the computer to an earlier date, but still no change.

Is there a firewall or virus scanning software issue?  Disable those and see if it helps.  Try resetting the router

  • HT4623 Has anyone had trouble installing 7.1 wirelessly on an ipad mini w/retina?  I downloaded the update, but when I attempt to install, I get an error message saying that I am not connected to the internet when I know that I am!

It downloaded fine, but when I attempt to install it won't verify, saying that I am not connected to the internet when I know that I am!  Tried on several wifi connections while plugged into power source.  Any advice is appreciated!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • My Linksys WRT54GS says that I am not connected to the internet, but I really am. Why?

My Linksys WRT54GS says that I am not connected to the internet, but I really am.
The Linksys EasyLink Advisor is telling me that there is a problem and the internet connection is not working.
However, my computer and every other computer and laptop connected to this router can get on the internet perfectly fine without any problems.
Why is it saying my connection is not working when it really is? How did I get rid of this message?

Probably you need to uninstall the software to eliminate that problem.

My laptop says it is connected to our wifi but it also says alert: you are not connected to the internet! Does anyone know how I can fix this/has it happened to anyone? Thanks

This usually indicates a problem with your router or cable modem, your ISP's service or cabling outside your house.  First thing I'd try is rebooting the router/cable modem (turn it off, wait 1 minute, then turn it back on).

    Hello Hpenny,
This may be due to iTunes being unable to connect to the iTunes Store.

  • When i go to download a voice / voices on lion on my 13" macbook pro (7,1) it says that i am not connected to the internet. What should i do?

After installing Lion on my mid 2010 macbook pro 13" (7,1) I went to download extra voices and every time i am met my the message, "The voice ....(dots are where the name of the voice) can't be installed now because you are not connected to the internet."
I then installed Lion on a 2011 13" macbook pro (8,1) and was able to download voices straight away. Is there a bug with the voices with 2010 macbook pros and is there a way round this problem or am i going to have to wait for Apple to release a fix for it?

Thank you a billion times over - I never would have figured that out, and certainly would not have a hair left on my head if you handn't taken the time to post the solution!

  • HT201263 so my friend disabled my ipod to the point that the ipod said "iPod disabled connect to iTunes" but my computer wont connect to iTunes beacuse iTunes is saying that it's not connected to the internet when my interenet is working just fine, so wha

So my friend had my iPod and he disabled it to where it said "iPod disabled connect to iTunes" but my computer will not connect to iTunes and I really need to know if there's a way I can restore my iPod?

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • HT6147 Trying to install iOS 7.0.6... Keeps giving me an error saying that I am not connected to the internet, but I am...

The iPad keeps giving me an error that it is unable to verify the update due to not being connected to the internet, but I am.  I have tried power cycling the iPad, disconnecting and reconnecting to the internet... None of which has any effect.  Any ideas?

    1. Close all the applications (double click home button and close the running applications.
    2. keep the home+power button pressed till the time device reboot automatically.
ones rebooted go to settings-> general -> software update.
it should check for the latest update 7.1 which you can download and install.

  • IPhoto says "Your computer is not connected to the internet"

For a few days now, iPhoto has repeatedly refused to do things (e.g., show a Help page) because it claims the computer (a Macbook Pro, OS X 10.9.5, iPhoto 9.5.1). isn't connected to the internet.  I have a bunch of terminal windows and half a dozen different browsers running, and they all agree that the internet is available and working just fine.
Why would iPhoto do this?  Or more to the point, how can I fix it, and convince it that the machine is indeed connected to the internet?
(Yes, I did try iPhoto's Help tool.  It told me that the computer wasn't connected to the internet, and to try again later. ;-)

If an app has access to a very big database of images with known locations, the reverse image search can "guess" at what or who it is... here's a little test (you can try it with your photos too)
Save this image to your computer
(cheating because we know it is an image from Organ Pipe National Monument
BUT it is also a screenshot with NO EXIF data attached )
    http://images.google.com
    hover for the "Camera Tool"
choose Upload and do so with "Picture 3.png"
    Google does several things -
    Guess at the content
Find matches on the web for its guess's search terms
Find 'similar' images  <<<===============THIS IS WHAT iPhoto SEEMS TO HAVE DONE!
show web pages that have the image on them
Remember, although a trick question test, it is a legitimate proof of the ability of the Guess Engine
I believe that the "buildings"(environment) in your old timey photos are the key to location guessing - if place is guessed, GoogleMaps can locate it w/ GPS coordinates from its database's cross reference
All that said, what Engine iPhoto is using is unknown to me - that's just how it works
