ITunes says no space on iPods after data deletion

We own two iPods, a 3rd generation and a 5th generation. We recently used them to transfer data to another computer by enabling them as hard disks in iTunes. Now, although we've deleted this data from our iPods, iTunes still says that our iPods have "Other Space" used up. My daughter's upset because she's worried she can't put more songs on her iPod. I'd like mine to have a bit more space as well.
Any way we can fix this? Thanks.

If you haven't emptied the Trash with the iPods connected, do so; if you already have, click here and follow the instructions.

    - If the error message says the downloaded firmware is corrupt, then delete the download and try again. It is located here:

    - If there is a problem with the iPod, then try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and then restore.

I keep getting a Warning that I'm running out of disk space. Even after I deleted all of my photos and e-mail I still show 0 available space. Please help!

Correct KiltedTim the iPhone does not have a disk drive, and it does give an error message about running out of disk space. I'm here searching for how to clear it and/or what causes it. A friends 8gb iphone 3G has started giving her that message. It is not jailbroken, has no videos, 400 songs, 20 apps. The system information says there is 0 bytes free. There is 4.6 Gb of "other" data taking up the remaining free space. None of the few apps on the phone I expect would take up that much space with data. Even her emails and saved text messages shouldn't fill 4GB. New iPhone coming in the next couple of days. Easiest to just reset the old one after the upgrade and redownload the apps to make sure not to mess things up.

  • Netweaver BI 7.0 on DB6, Space not reclaimed after PSA deletion

    Hi,
We recently moved from Oracle to DB6 ( DB2 9.7.0 on AIX) for our Netweaver BI 7.0 system. Previously when we schedule the PSA deletion jobs we will see the benefits that the space is reclaimed, but now on DB6  we dont see that the space is reclaimed after PSA deletion. The DB size went up by whooping 30 GB in one month which was not expected. Please advice.
    Thanks in advance
    Siva

    Hi Debanshu,
    This is specific to DB6.
To 'reclaim' the storage (no matter what is the activity after which you expect some storage to be 'freed'), this is the procedure you have to carry out. Also, try to study about High water mark in detail.

  • ITunes says it can't read my data, but restoring will install iOS4

    Hi,
I've only recently purchased my 8gb iPod Touch, and am on my second one at the moment. I had to take the first one back in less than a day after I purchased it because iOS4 completely crashed it. Nothing could fix it.
Anyway, just recently the new iPod hasn't been connecting to iTunes properly. iTunes can find it but it says it can't read the data and it needs to restore it to the factory settings. I wouldn't have a problem with this normally, however when I go to restore, iTunes says that restoring will also install the iOS4 software, which ruined my last iPod Touch.
I really don't know what to do. Sooner or later I'm going to need to put more things on and take things off...I'm too scared to try and install iOS4 again and I've been told Apple won't help you if your iPod dies as a result of iOS4..
Does anyone know how I can fix this without installing iOS4?
    Much appreciated..

mine is doing the same thing other than Itunes saying it can't read the format. I can't play 90% of my music. I took it to an apple store the other day an they told me only purchased music will work. Not even a music upload from a CD. Which to me is a load of ....because my wife has all the songs on her iphone that are greyed out on mine and they work on hers

  • Itunes not recognizing 7th gen iPod after updating to windows 8.1 and latest itunes, works on other computers

So I updated my computer to 8.1 I don't know if I synced my ipod after that, but I know immediately after updating iTunes, I began to receive an error message saying iTunes recognizes that I connected an iPod, but can't identify properly.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as restarting the computer, trying different USB ports. it works when I connect it to other computers.

    Hi HIJKay,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some steps you can take if iTunes isn't correctly recognizing your iPod:

  • Itunes does not recognise the ipod after update to itunes 8.2.0.23

Hi, Now find, after putting new songs in my play list, that when I plug in ipod to update songs on ipod itunes does not recognise the ipod.
The version of iTunes I updated to was 8.2.0.23 - everything worked fine until then. I see there is a newer version 8.2.1 now available - do you think by installing this the "unable to recognise" problem would be fixed???
    Thanks for your thoughts!

I have a similar problem with the iPhone. Tried everything you can think of and then some. There is apparently some devastating bug 7.6 introduced into normal USB device recognition. I've been able to force the phone into recovery mode; the boot recovery USB driver does still work. Restoring the phone every time I need to sync is both scary and time-consuming.

  • ITunes says update software on iPOd. Will this erase all songs?

    help?

    Hello, Welcome to discussions.
Before doing any update you want to ensure the data on the iPod Touch is backed up to your PC/Mac so that you can sync it back to the iPod Touch as needed.
*Make sure any contacts and calenders and photos you have are synced to the proper programs supported in the link below. This ensures they are backed up to the PC/Mac as well as in the iTunes backup itself.

  • Songs deleted off of iPod, after I deleted "iPod selection"

Hi! I DESPERATELY need help! (I can't live without my music)
I have the 2nd generation, 4 GB nano, and when I synced my songs today, iTunes (the newest version available on the apple website) told me that all of my songs in iTunes cannot fit in my iPod. So it asked me if I wanted to create an "iPod selection" so my songs would be synced, so I said yes.
After turning on my iPod, I noticed that all my playlists were gone, and this "iPod selection" had replaced all of them. So, I went back to iTunes, deleted the "iPod selection", and went back to my iPod thinking all my old playlists would be there, but ALL MY MUSIC IS GONE! Luckily, I have all my songs backed up on my computer, but now my iPod is EMPTY, and I have no idea how to re-sync my songs!
Whenever I try to sync, it tells me "it cannot be synced because all of the playlists for syncing no longer exist".
I would really appreciate some help, thanks!!

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Table move after data deletion in oracle 11g

    Hi,
Our previous system was in oracle 9i, And we used to archive our data in every 1 year which caused a huged number of DML operation our database. After that,we used to move our table and rebuild indexes to releases spaces. After Upgradation ,our presence system is running on oracle version 11.2.0.2. Now my question do we need to move table in 11g to release space?? Or it automatically done in 11.2.0.2???
    Thanks and Regards,

Move command will do the job.
did you see what is the free space in tablespace after moving objects?

  • After the ios 7 update, my iphone will not connect to my iMac iTunes because "it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later." but my iTunes says all software is up to date...can anyone help??

iPhone will not connect to my iTunes. I am running iTunes version 10.6.3 on my iMac runing Mac OS X version 10.5.8. All of my updates say "up to date" but this is obviously not the case. Can anyone help me out?

    Hi,
Your iTunes is up to date for your OS X.
iTunes 11 requires in intel mac running OS X 10.6.8 or later. If your computer is compatible you will need to purchase Snow Leopard upgrade from Apple store.

  • ITunes says my computer and iPod aren't similarly authorized

I'm trying to sync my iPod Touch 2G with iTunes on my Windows XP computer, and I keep getting this message:
"This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPod "Catherine the Great". Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?
If you do not authorize this computer, 4 apps, including "AIM", and their data will be deleted form this iPod."
There are cancel, authorize, and don't authorize buttons. I can hit cancel but I need to sync my iPod and that's counterproductive, I can hit authorize and be taken to the "Enter Account Name and Password" login bit... I enter my apple ID and password and it says "This computer is already authorized". I even double-checked that it was the same username and password in my iPod and it is, it's what I use to download apps from the iTunes store.
If I hit "don't authorize", it starts the sync but then says it's deleting apps because they're not authorized.
How do I fix this? I've never had this problem before. I haven't synced my iPod in the past two weeks at least, probably a few weeks longer than that, and I have iTunes 10.1.1.4. I don't remember exactly when the last time I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes was, but there's definitely a good chance I haven't tried to sync my iPod since the last time I updated iTunes.

I tried everything it said, but nothing worked. But thank you for the link, I was looking for something along those lines in the Apple Support area and missed it somehow.
I just realized though that when it prompts me to authorize it's my AIM screenname it has in the Apple ID space, even though I don't use that as my Apple ID and, as far as I know, did not ever download anything from the iTunes store with that.
Do you know any way to check if I downloaded any of my apps using a different ID even though I really don't think I did?
I would just deauthorize it and then redownload them all, but some of them aren't available any more and I have data, ebooks, etc. on them.
