I looked in Windows firewall and itunes is allowed but whatever, this sitch occured whilst using Microsoft Security Essentials which I removed thinking it may be the problem which clearly it wasn't.
No settings have been changed so anything like Netintelligence hasn't been a problem in the past so I can't see any reason why it should suddenly become an issue - besides I never open up netintelligence or use it.
Any help much appreciated. PS I've searched much and tried many of the options already out there to try and fix this.

Can anyone decipher the text below from All Programs, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, Custom Views, Administrative Events as it may be relevent in finding out what's going on when itunes or anything isn't working right.

  • Itunes wont connect to store, not a firewall issue!

    Hey guys
Since i upgraded to itunes 8 i can't connect to the itunes store, it just says 'itunes cannot connect to the itunes store, the network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection active, then try again.'
I have run the diagnostics test and it is all fine and it verifies that my connection is ok, then it says it cannot obtain a secure connection to the store.
'Connection attempt to Apple web site was unsuccessful.
    The network connection was refused.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.

Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
    The network connection was refused.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server unsuccessful.
    The network connection was refused.
iTunes has never successfully accessed iTunes store'
Im running on XP service pack 2, as a side note, after restarting my comp i was prompted to update one of my flash players and that too said it couldn't connect to the internet.
I have tried disabling my firewall and fiddling about with the exceptions, anyone got an idea? My virus protection has also been disabled, i dont know what to do.

and nothing happens. the weird thing is, i get this message every time i open itunes...

I tried the Edit>Preferences thing, and when I clicked on iTunes store link, I got a message saying the iTunes store is not currently available. I haven't been able to get into the iTunes store for over a week (it won't load). I didn't install anything new or change any settings prior to that.

First, please don't tell me to look through the archives, because I already did and can't find a solution.  If you have 5 hours to search for me, please do so and let me know what thread the answer is in.
After the second to last itunes update (back in July/August, maybe?), itunes would not connect to the store.  When I went to update my iphone to the latest software, it would start backing up and then stay there forever.  When the next (latest) itunes update popped up a few weeks ago, I was thrilled because I thought the problem would be solved.  No dice.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated.  The only thing I haven't done is downgraded but that is because one, I can't find an old version of itunes, and two, I read in other threads this didn't work anyway.  I've deauthorized and reauthorized my computer.  That didn't work.  I can't sync, update, or back up my iphone.
Does anyone have any other advice???
    Thank you!
PS I just noticed that somehow I DO have the latest version of the iOS, but not sure how this happened since the iphone never connected with itunes.

Had some time at lunch to work on this issue. On my Win 7 PC I noticed the Apple USB drive had an ! mark on it in the device manager. I right clicked on it and updated driver software. I picked the automatically search for new driver. Now it works.

  • Itunes cannot connect to store, iphone or login

After an upgrade, Itunes broke and I experienced a number of problems:
    1. Itunes would crash shortly after launch or after playing two songs
        - Partial fix: remove the item in /Users/name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist: pref:130:Preferences, restart Itunes and open and modify preferences.
    2. Itunes would not connect to the store (blank screen)
    3. Itunes would not accept my login. The login dialog does not complain but disappears but without establishing a login.
    4. My iphone would not appear in Itunes.
I tried many, many things including, of course, upgrading to the latest version of Itunes (10.5.2). Nothing I found in the online forums was helpful. I called Apple support. I was getting close to wiping the disk and reinstalling as recommended by Apple support. I finally discovered that Itunes worked fine in another user account on my MacBook Air (an account with standard user priveldges only). I then discovered a solution:
    1. Open Itunes while holding the option key.
    2. Choose create a new library. This new, empty library works fine: the store, login, and iphone all operate.
    3. Make sure preferences are set to organized and copy files.
    4. For the next step, you must have enough space to duplicate your original Itunes music.
    5. Go to File ->Add to Library and browse to the original (corrupt) Itunes music folder. Select this at the top level (i.e. at /Users/name/Music/Itunes/Itunes Media
and Open. This will copy all of your files.
    6. Delete your original Itunes folder.
The problem seemed to be that my library was somehow corrupt and caused Itunes to malfunction.
    I hope this helps someone.

  • Itunes no connection with store.

The simple answer was to install Safari. But none of those at Apple support ever said that. Are they really so dumb in Apple!!!

mine had the same problem at first. Try restarting your computer, because your internet browser is obviously working. Restarting worked for me.

My 'secure' network connection was 'refused' when access iTunes. I can view & navigate the iTunes store AND I can update my Podcasts successfully...BUT I can't sign in/download /purchase, et al.
Triage so far...not neccessarily in this order...
    1) Not using Norton or Macafee - using Verizon Security suite
Checked firewall - itunes is listed a 'safe'
    2) Ran ITunes Dx program - followed the suggestion to check SSL & TLS - checked correctly (log pasted below)
    3) Uninstalled iTunes and then reinstalled - no change
    4) Cleaned out IE files cookies - no change
    5) Renamed the etc/HOST file name - no change
    6) the Apple Help person said that he has no idea and have done what he would have already suggested...

Although a didn't currently have Norton and had thought I had uninstalled it (no longer in my program menu & no residual icons et al...there is the 'Semantic' TOOL that must be used to REALLY remove Norton security remnants that are buried deep in the c-drive program files. This I didn't know about...
So I downloaded the tool from the Norton web page and ran it per their instructions. After rebooting, my 8.0.2.20 iTunes secure connect was fine.
I spent 9+ days trying to get iTunes to work. Norton is the devil company and I will never use that security program again - especially with all the other Norton-specific issues iTunes is having release after release...

  • Secure link to itunes store failed computer not connected to internet tried ununininstalling everything to do with itunes no joy also error code coming up E0000225 anybody out there got any ideas

Secure link to itunes store failed, (computer not connected to internet tried uninstalling everything to do with itunes,no joy also errror code E0000225 appearing. Have turned off windows firewall and also my Bullguarg security settings. Can anybody out there please help me thanks.

    Hi,
You could be right that the response to clicking on help is a symptom of an entirely separate issue, but nevertheless the secure link to itunes is definitely failed, and I am unable to log into Itunes on either PC.
I also noticed that even if I click on the link to create a whole new Apple ID, I cannot do that either, presumably because the secure link is not working.
After I noticed that there were weird things happening this morning, I did change my Apple ID password in the hope that this might resolve it, but it seemed to make it worse.  Now, all of my apple devices keep constantly prompting me for the apple ID password, and randomly either accepting it, or telling me it is wrong.  I know the password is correct because I can log onto the apple Manage My Apple ID screens in a web browser with it.
I was starting to think that this is an ISP issue (BT Broadband), but I have not seen anyone else posting with the same issue.  Does Apple use a different security protocol to everyone else?  I'm asking because all other secure services seem to be working fine, but anything related to apple that requires a secure connection or authentication is having issues.
I have also seen reference to making sure that Itunes is listed as an allowed program in Windows Firewall.  I cannot seem to do this because it says that my Windows firewall is being managed by McCafee.  I have checked the settings in McCafee, and it appears to me that Itunes, Bonjour, and many other apple programs have been granted "Full" access.  As said before in any case I have tried temporarily disabling the firewall and even this did not solve the problem.
