Itunes set up wont open.  Windows 7

I downloaded the reccomended Itunes64setup.exe. However when I try to click on it to open it a error message dispaying 'itunes64setup.exe in not a valid win32 application.' I have a brand new computer and according to my box it is running Windows 7 64 bit. I am sooo irritated, any help is appreciated

Sometimes it's Firefox that has the issues and sometimes it's IE. More commonly it's IE that gets reported (perhaps just because more people have it on their PCs), but sometimes Firefox is the grumpy one. Glad you were able to get things installed, Peter.

my itunes nor quicktime wont open i uninstalled and installed itunes i tried disabling bonjour i added a new users i did a virus scan i am all out of ideas i need major help

    Many thanks.
I think we'd better see if some other application (other than QuickTime itself) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in the system files on the PC. (If there's a version mismatch between the old componentry and the "QuickTime proper" componentry, that can create those error-message-free launch failures for both iTunes and the QuickTime Player.)
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP

    many thanks.
Some questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits with error-message-free iTunes launch failures.
    (1) Does your QuickTime Player launch, or do you get an error message of some kind when you try to launch that?
    (2) If your QuickTime seems to be launching fine, try (by way of experiment) disabling the BonJour Service.
In your Start Menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Maximise the window to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the BonJour Service and select "Properties". In the "General" tab, set Start-up type to "Disabled".
Restart the PC, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch this time?
If iTunes launches with the BonJour Service disabled, by any chance do you have a recent version of IOBit's Advanced SystemCare utility currently installed on the PC? If so, try uninstalling and reinstalling Advanced SystemCare. Can you launch iTunes without having to disable the BonJour Service now?

  • Itunes wont open windows 7 tried everything online

    hi
my itunes wont open at all on windows 7 it worked at first but now not at all.
i have tried every fix i can find online and nothing.
    -checked if it was user
    -checked quicktime
    -tried opening in safe mode
    -uninstalled several times
    -checked roaming files
nothing? any help would be greatly appreciated!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • ITunes wont open windows 7 64-bit

Ive been searching for over an hour, iTunes wont open on windows 7 64-bit. The process is running in task manager. I did all of the troubleshooting steps on: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
I also have uninstalled and reinstalled.
I found some other threads and from what I can tell quciktime runs fine and it is not a conflict with Bonjour. I have disabled all non system process from running and it will still not open. Anyone have any suggestions?
Also I am running iTunes 10.5 but have also tried it on 10.2

Solved problem by creating new iTunes library, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
    under User-specific Troubleshooting.
I dont know what the problem was or why this worked, but it did.

  • How do I fix my itunes? It wont open.

Ok. So I uninstalled. Ran updates on my laptop. I even repaired the installition of itunes. I ran it as administratior. Yet, When I click it it says "Would you like to allow the following program to make changes to your hard drive?" I click yes but still wont open.

Sometimes a program is not allowed to open on a Windows OS because the anti-virus does not allow it to run. Depending on what you use (I run AVG) you will need to "allow exception" for a program like iTunes to run. I suggest looking at the your anti-virus or other protective software for anything that looks like it is keeping programs from running.

  • Itunes 6.0 wont open

I just upgraded from 5.0 to 6.0 and now iTunes wont open from neither shortcut, not from the c: itself.
    help?? should i reinstall 5.0?
actually, i just realized i have version 8.2.160.0 on my drive...no idea where that one came from. should i just reinstall that setup?

I was able to get iTunes launched (with the help of Tech Support) in a very unsafe environment. I owe it to those who may need this after me. It will get you going, but you will be extremely vulnerable to internet virus assaults. Please do not use this approach, until you have exhausted every other available solution for your issue in the KB.
There are three Steps 1) Uninstall 2) Disble and 3) Reinstall.
UNISTALL Uninstall iTunes using Windows utility Add Remove Program available in Control Panel.
DISABLE Disable all third party System Services and Startup Items using using MSCONFIG utility as described in Service Document http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    RE-INSTALL Re-install iTunes6 + QT7. Launch it under the Selective Startup Option.
It worked ! You realize among other things at this point you have your Antivirus and Firewall disabled. When I started my computer in the Normal Startup Option, iTunes fails to work again. So I have ahead of me the long and ardous task of ruling out the service that is causing conflict with iTunes6. Then work with the software vendor to arrive at a solution.

  • Itunes store just wont open, but has prior even after stupid update to ios7

I have downloaded a few songs from the itunes store after the update and just yesterday i tried to get into itunes store from iphone 5 and it doesn't open. Doesn't say anything just wont open shuts it off right away.  Ive done all the recommend support suggestions and now i am lost.  Whats the point in having a iphone if i cant open my itunes store.??? Please help

    Hello there, HockeyMomClearLake.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some troubleshooting steps for your issue:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1368
    Particularly:
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Itunes 4.9 wont open

I recently downloaded itunes 4.9 and now it wont open. There are no error messages popping up at all when i am trying to open it. My computer is also having trouble shutting down now, weird "end program" messages keep popping up.
I have been reading some of the other posts and I've been trying to follow some of the suggestions that were given. Such as- disabling NIS and trying to repair the download.
I have to admit that i am computer challenged. I dont really understand some of the suggestions that were given, thus i am afraid to try them. Is there an easy way for computer beginners such as myself to fix this problem?

    hi Patricia!
    okay:
    (1) is your PC acting peculiarly in any other respects? if so, please describe them.
    (2) are you getting any error messages at all? if so, describe them as fully as you can. (include any error numbers if there are any.)
    (3) do you have Kazaa Gold Premium installed on your machine?
    (4) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on your machine? If so, have you tried switching that off just before launching itunes?
    (5) are you even using a PC? (you've given us no information whatsoever on your setup ...)
    love, b

  • Boot camp wont open windows

    boot camp wont open windows

What you have downloaded is probably a .exe file that when run on a Windows machine, will download the entire Windows OS ISO (ISO is a CD/DVD image). Once you have the ISO available, installing Windows that you downloaded as an ISO requires a few more steps than just double clicking the ISO image.
Please see How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support.
