ITunes setup not opening or installing.
I downloaded iTunes setup, but when it's finished and I click on it to install it, it doesn't open. I've tried a number of different ways to open it, even downloading it again..but nothing works. And when I try to delete it, it says it cannot delete because the file is open, which it is not. Any siggestions?

I've encountered the exact same problem.
iTunes wouldn't start up at all, even tough it had the correct version.
By browsing to the applications contents and running the itunes exec it would work.
Also running it through Terminal would work. But simply not by clicking the iTunes.app
However i've fixed it! by manually setting read and write so that you can delete the iTunes.app. (for a tut see http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/uninstall-itunes/)
Then manually Install iTunes again by downloading it at http://www.apple.com/nl/itunes/download/
Then it worked fine with me! Hope it helps. -

Ive been having the problem that itunes wouldn't open and nothing happened....no error messages nutin. The hour glass comes on but for 2 seconds. It doesnt register in task manager either.
However, i have managed to make it come back so if you have same problem give it a shot because its worked for me so far....
1. go to my music
2. open folder called itunes
3. click on previous libraries
4. click on the most recent library
5. give it a couple of minutes and it should come up.
This has worked for me and now when i click the icon it comes up i just have to wait a little bit.
My library hadnt been updated after the install so fortunately all my music is there so i dont know what will happen if you had put more music on inbetween the update and when it stopped working.
i havent purchased anything yet so dont know how that will affect it but it at least gives you a chance to backup your music......

ITune does not open after installing IE7
I have recently installed Internet Explorer 7 on my Window XP (with service pack 2). This causes me problem in opening iTune right now. After removing IE7, then restart the computer and reinstall iTune, I still cannot open iTune.
Does anyone aware of this problem? Any suggestion as in how I can iTune running again. I have all songs organized in iTune and I have just used for long time. I want it to run again.

There are no particular problems iTunes has running with IE7 - no problems I have or I have heard of - so let's try to get an idea of what might be going on with some preliminary questions from b noir's "smack" for iTunes fails to launch situations:
Is there an error message associated with the launch failure?
If so, what does it say and what (if any) error numbers are there?
If there's not an error mesage, let's check your QuickTime (its well-being is a prerequisite to a functioning iTunes).
Go to the XP Start menu > All Programs and try running QuickTime.
Does it start?
If not, then the same question as for iTunes - is there an error message?
If so, what does it say and what (if any) error numbers are there?
Do you notice any other peculiar behavior with QuickTime?

I just installed lion and completed the most recent software updates for my computer, now i cannot get iTunes to open without it "unexpectedly quitting" on me. Has anyone else had this problem or knows what to do?
You can try two things - Open Disk Utility and repair all permissions for your hard disk and / or delete the iTunes Preferences plist file in userhome/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
However, Lion now hides this Library folder in your user home folder, so you will need to open the Terminal app and type
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
and press return
This will show the Library folder -

After downloading and installing OS 10.10.3 iTunes will not open. Spotlight does not find it. I have repaired permissions, re-downloaded iTunes, and re-installed it. The problem remains. ITunes appears in the directory of Applications, the update shown in the info in Finder. Double clicking does not open it.

Just installed security update 2014-002, now Itunes will not open, I have rebooted twice with no effect, I don't know what else to do to get my itunes back. Need help please
Believe I've firxed my problem, at least, ITunes is now working again. I followed the information provided from a couple of posts on this thread, (1) re restarting with command-s held down; did it twice, made no differerence; (2) manually re-installed the Security update; no difference; each time restarting, no effect; (3) shutdown the computer; I did for 35 minutes, upon restart, ITunes is back to normal, seems to be working fine. Turning the computer off must clear the cache?

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

iTunes will not open, I keep getting the error 7 (windows error 193).
I have tried many recommendations, erasing folders, reinstalling it many time but nothing.
I have a windows 7 Lenovo ideapad.For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you are running 64-bit Windows and the above steps haven't helped try installing the version of iTunes that can be downloaded from this support document. iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

I just downloaded and installed the new iTunes on a Toshiba Satelite of some age. It was just completely reformated and updated with XP. iTunes will not open. The terms page comes up and when I agree it disappears. I have uninstalled and reinstalled.

Itunes was first getting required itunes component not installed. Click ok and could go to itunes. Determined itunes was not recognizing Ipod, computer does. Itunes diagnostics show problem Ipod not found. Now Itunes is not opening. Have installed Itunes again with repair option, then uninstall/install option.
Then manually unintalled Itunes, Quicktime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and Application Support. This is a Windows 7 Toshiba PC. B was asking another user if iTunes.exe was appearing and then disappearing in the Task Manager. I am having the oposite issue in that I cannot End Task in the Task Manager on iTunes.exe. What is up?
