Itunes Sharing not working over wireless

I have three PC's both running the latest version of ITunes.
Desktop 1 is running Windows XP and connects directly into the Action Tec Router via a wired connection.
Laptop 1 is running Windows 7 and connects to the Action Tec router via a wireless connection.
Laptop 2 is running Windows Vista and connects to the Action Tec router via a wireless connection.
All PC's can connect on the Internet.  The wireless connection uses WPA/PSK.  Any firewalls are disabled.
Desktop 1 can see the Library of both Laptop 1 and Laptop 2.  From Desktop 1, When I click the library of laptop 1 Itunes says "laptop1 library is not responding".
Laptop 1 and Laptop 2 do not see the library of either Desktop 1 or the other Laptop.
If I move Laptop 1 from a wireless connection to a wired connection, the sharing works fine.
Anyone know why the wireless is causing Itunes sharing to not work?
Thanks, Jim

So this morning I was playing the Windows 7 laptop and decided to delete my windows wireless profile on the laptop called home and my existing home SSID on the Verizon router.  I created a new SSID called boo with no security.  I connected to that SSID and Itunes sharing worked between the desktop and laptop.  I then added WPA2/PSK to the boo SSID and sharing still worked.  Finally I went back to my original SSID called home and WPA2/PSK, recreated the home profile and Itunes sharing worked again.
I then went to the Windows Vista Laptop and without making any changes to it, Itunes sharing worked.
So in the end it seems deleting the current SSID configuration and rebuilding it on the verizon router cured the problem (for now).

  • Home Sharing not working between wireless PC's / devices and ethernet wired PC's on the same router.

Home Sharing is not working between wireless PC's / devices and ethernet wired PC's on the same router.  I installed a new Verizon FIOS ActionTec  MI424WR GigE wireless / ethernet router, replacing the original FIOS router.  With the old router Home Sharing worked fine across and among all iOS and Windows wired and wireless devices.  With the new router Home Sharing works between and among the Wired PC's but not between the wired PC's and the Wireless connected PC's or iOS devices.  Home Sharing also works between and among the wireless connected PC's and iOS decices but not between them and the wired PC's.
Only the router was changed.  No changes were made to any of the devices except all were updated with the latest version of iTunes 10.7.0.21 and the iSO devices were updated to iOS vrsion 6.01.  Three PC's are wired and all are running Windows 7.  There also is a Windows Home Server connected to the router by ethernet port.  It does not run iTunes but does provide WebDAV services to my iOS devices.  This works fine.  Two PC's are wireless, one running Windows 7 and one running Windows 8.  All of the PC's are connected to the same (new) router via it's ethernet ports and it's wireless access point.  Two of the wired PC's are connected via a high-speed  ethernet hup that is connected to the router (Home Sharing works fine between the two PC's on the hub and the PC on the router).  All wired and wireless devices on the router are visible and members of the router's Home/Office virtual network.
All of the PC's are visible in the Windows network and all shared files are accessable from all PC's, both wired and wireless.
Obviously the router seems to be the issue, something between the ethernet and the wireless access point components.  I checked the settings and found nothing that would prevent Home Sharing between the wired and wireless devices.  There is no setting that isolates the wireless network.  I have done the following:
Read the router user manual and checked all the settings
    Rebooted the router and tested.
Turned off the router's firewall and tested.
Home Sharing is turned on all the devices and all use the same Apple ID.
    Restarted iTunes and tested.
Verified iTunes is "Allowed" in each PC's firewall.
Again, I can Home Share between the two wireless PC's but not between either of the wireless PC's and any of the wired PC's.  I can Home Share between my iPads and iPhones and either of the two wireless PC's but not with any of the wired PC's.  I can Home Share between any of the wired PC's but not between any wired PC and a wireless PC or iOS device.
I hope someone may have had a similar problem and has a fix suggestion.  I'm stumped!  I have a;so contacked ActionTec and awaiting an answer.

    Solution from ActionTec is:
    Log into your router.
    Click the Advanced icon
    Cclick Yes
    Click on the IGMP Proxy
    Select Disable
    Click Apply

  • Stumped. iTunes sharing not working at all on one of my 4 iMacs

I refreshed my main  maxxed out BTO 27" iMac, and can't get itunes sharing to work.
I have 4 iMacs (2006,2009,2010,2013), 3 ipads (1,3,5) and 4 iphones (2x4,5,5s), last gen Apple TV, current gen Time Capsule. Everything is on latest SW updates.
I have my itunes library on the Time Capsule
Everything is wireless except my new BTO imac, which is connected to the TC via ethernet (previously my 2009 iMac was in this config and worked fine)
Using the ipads/iphones/Apple tv, I can hit the other shared libraries
The new imac doesn't showup on any of the other devices. I have homesharing and filesharing on in sys prefs and itunes, and itunes running but none of the devices see the new mac. Turned stuff off and on/rebooted all the devices etc, but stumped. Nothing shows up on any of the other devices, but they all see the other macs libraries fine.

Restarted the Mac and Time Capsule again, and it showed up.

  • ITunes Sharing not working on all Computers

Hi, I'm looking for some help with setting up home sharing between a 21" imac OSX 10.7.4, bought early this year, and a windows vista PC.
I've scoured the web looking for solutions before finally deciding to search for help here.
ok, the situation is that at the moment, I have a windows Vista PC which i use as a media centre for all my music, which i intend to share over the network to my imac, but for some reason, vista can see my imac's playlist, but the imac can't see the window's playlist. i'm also running a Buffalo Linkstation Pro Quad with itunes server running, whIch is also only visible on vista.
I've already set up static IPs for the imac, vista and NAS, but still to no avail. I've opened ports 3689 and 5353, and allowed access through the firewall on both norton 360(vista) and imac's firewall, and disabled windows firewall.
However, i've tested the home sharing connection on an ipad, and can only receive the imac's playlist, while the vista's playlist can't be detected.
This is all very puzzling to me, as it doesnt make any sense as to why the playlists aren't turning up, and worst still, there is no set pattern to the issues. Due to this, i cant pinpoint the exact kink in the chain. But to the best of my knowledge, i have done all i can to ensure an open connection between devices.
Oddly enough, itunes on my imac did manage to detect both the NAS itunes server and the Vista's playlist on one or two occasions, but eventually vanished never to return again. on both occasions, i was doing the exact same things as i did the other times i tried to configure itunes, except those other times failed to detect. I've run out of ideas.
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME. YOUR HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED as i use the imac for video editing and need the music libraries to be accesible.
    Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. I checked and both the service and process are running.
One of the windows machines was away with my brother at college, and he informs me that iTunes sharing was working fine for him there. I can only assume that the problem is due to something with my router configuration. Any ideas?

  • AirTunes not working over wireless from Windows 7

    Setup:
Dell Inspiron 15 laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium)
    Airport Express
    Network:
    ADSL router
+- Desktop PC (ethernet to router)
+- Airport Express (ethernet to router)
+- Dell laptop (wireless to Airport Express)
The Airport Express creates a wireless network (802.11n, 2.4GHz). The Dell laptop can't see the speakers. My Macbook Pro works fine. I've determined that the problem is that IPv6 isn't working over wireless. The Dell laptop can't see the Airport Express with the Airport Utility either.
When I plug the Dell laptop into the ethernet on the ADSL router, everything starts working fine. If you look at the interface information DHCPv6 is up.
Without the cable plugged in my wireless connection says:
    IPv6 Connectivity: No network access
When a cable is plugged in:
    IPv6 Connectivity: No internet access
(which is how it should be).
I am pulling my hair out here and have absolutely no idea why this won't work.
Firewall is completely disabled. The router also creates an 802.11g network but it's settings shouldn't matter (wireless isolation, which is turned off, and so on).
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Download and install the switchable graphics driver on the following link.

  • [T400] Cisco VPN client not working over wireless adapter (but works on cabled connection)

I have a very strange problem.
I need to connect to my work via the cisco vpn client (version 5.0.00.0340).
My previous laptop (T43 , windows XP) worked well through both wired / wireless connections.  My desktop machine (vista) works via wired connection (it has no wireless connection).
On my new T400, the VPN client works via a wired connection but not via the wireless adapter.
On the wireless apapter, the vpn seems to connect OK, but when I try to access resources via the VPN there is little response.
I get this in the vpn log...
    405   08:56:57.073  04/16/09  Sev=Warning/2 IPSEC/0xE3700003
Function CniInjectSend() failed with an error code of 0xa4510009 (IPSecDrvCB:846)
I've tried disabling the firewall (in both the T400 and the router), removed access connections, and disabling tcp v6. I've rebooted everything too.
But, nothing seems to work.   I suspect the problem is on the t400 somewhere, because the old laptop used to work OK via wireless.
I've seen some google links on cisco vpn not working via  wireless but nothing seems to apply to my exact situation yet.
Anyone else had this problem or know of a fix? Thanks in advance.

all good now, got it working.
The Deterministic network thing was not installed on the wireless adapter for some reason.

  • Airplay not working over wireless, works over ethernet?

I posted this in multiple forums in which it applies to.
Just looking for troubleshooting suggestions from my wireless N MBPro, to my wired ATV2. Here is the rundown (all devices running latest updates):
1)used to work just fine with old router
2)airplay works in all directions, from wireless devises to the wired ATV2
3)updated to a much newer N router from cisco
4)now, airplay works over Ethernet from itunes to ATV2 (and iphone4s to ATV2), ATV2 plays music from my MBPro just fine
    5) however airplay fails to work from itunes to ATV2 over wirelesss
6)all wireless connections are sound, it is not a bandwidth problem, it literally says "connecting to apple tv" and never stops or connects
7)itunes sees the ATV2 just fine over both Ethernet and wireless connections, i can select ATV2 as an output even when on wireless
8)it will even ask for the password once i select it
So, any suggestions? I just dont know where I am going wrong, somehow the wireless aspect is the broken link. As a side note, all wireless clients and wired clients are on the same subnet.
Thanks for any suggestions or help!

I had the same problem.  Disable any IGMP, or IGMP proxy features on your router.  As soon as I disabled IGMP proxy on my router everything came up has been working for a while. Lack of driver support on the wireless clients is likely the cause. oh well, at least its working now.

  • ITunes sharing not working at all

I have been trying to set up a LAN so that I can play music from the computer upstairs via my laptop downstairs. At the moment the 2 machines are connected directly with an ethernet cable, so it's not a router problem (every thread I find on this topic blames this on routers).
My laptop is a MacBook running OSX 10.4.11, using the latest version of iTunes (8-something), and the computer is a PPC G3 running OSX 10.4.11, also on the latest version of iTunes (it updated this morning). The laptop can see the library on the computer, but not load it (error 3259) and keeps telling me to check firewall / ports. The firewalls on BOTH computers have been disabled, and the ports have been checked & are correct (3689). The G3 does not even show the iTunes library from the laptop in iTunes though!
I have tried scrapping the iTunes preferences files on both machines & restarting iTunes. They both seem to be able to find each other / open files through the 'network' feature in finder (although I had problems with that earlier), but iTunes sharing is not working at all.
What can I do? Some threads suggest problems with Bonjour or QuickTime, but I don't know if these are relevant at all. As others have commented: lots of threads on the net about this but no answers!

turns out you need to be sure the computers are connected before starting iTunes on either one for this to work.
I just got this working - through the router as well - with no problems at all following this method.
It doesn't mention this at all in apple's instructions.

  • Home sharing not work over d-link router (lan - wi-fi)

I have d-link dsl-2640u. It has 4 Ethernet ports and wi-fi AP. My iTunes is installed on pc that connected to d-link through Ethernet. And I have iPad connected to the d-link via wi-fi. So, the library that is shared on my pc, don't showing up in the iPad. But when I unplug LAN cable from pc and then plug the wi-fi adapter in, and connect to d-link wi-fi - all work fine. All devices use 192.168.1.1-10 ip. Can anybody help me? How provide sharing from the ethernet to wi-fi.

I solved the problem! First of all, i installed the latest firmware for the DSL-2640u.
The Next steps include the following:
    1. Turned of the firewall in WAN interface
    2. Enable "Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports" in WAN interface.
    3. Enable "Enable WAN Service" & "Enable IGMP Multicast"
    4. Advanced Setup->LAN-> Enabled "Enabled IGMP Snooping"
    5. Advanced Setup->Interface Group. Group "default" include Wireless(SSID1), LAN1, LAN2, LAN3, LAN4
    6. Wireless -> wireless bridge -> Bridge Restrict turned to "disabled"
Last steps (maybe, its not necessary)
    1. Advanced Setup->NAT -> Virtual Servers -> ADD TCP/UDP port 3689 & ADD UDP port 5353 for 192.168.1.2
    2. Advanced Setup->NAT -> Port Triggering -> ADD TCP port 3689 & ADD UDP port 5353
    3. Advanced Setup->NAT -> DMZhost -> ADD 192.168.1.2 (my pc IP-adress)

  • ITunes Sharing Not Working After Years of Working Great

After many years of iTunes Home Sharing working great with an old Mac Mini and a large shared library of music and videos, I decided it was time to upgrade the system with a new Mac Mini (bought a few weeks ago) with a nice OWC external hard drive for the data.
I am now having problems sharing on all devices.  On AppleTV it has trouble finding the shared library.
On another Mac in my home it shows the shared libary in iTunes, but when you click on it to use it it gets stuck on "Loading".
The only thing that solves the problem is for me to go to the iTunes computer and shut off and restart iTunes.  That will then work for a period of time (not very long) and then we go back to the problem.
I have checked all the settings and nothing seems to be wrong.
I am using the latest versions of everything.
    Any ideas?

  • Home sharing not working through wireless

I have a D-Link DIR - 855L router and my Library will not display on my wireless devices (A Roku soundbridge and a Grace Digital Mondo(.  If I connect wired to my network I can see the Library on both devices.  I have upnp enabled and Multicast streams.  I have turned media sharing on in Windows 7 and both devices are listed on my network when they are connected through wifi.  I have also tried manually forwarding the iTunes ports and reserving IP addresses for all devices.

I have the same issue - can use AirPlay with wired devices - wireless is hit or miss; mostly miss... Using Netgear WNDR3700v2. Did you fix the issue?

  • Mac OS X File Sharing not working over WiFi

I have 3 computers, all Macs. Two are hooked into my WRT54GP2 via ethernet cables, and one is using WiFi (Airport Extreme). All get an IP number from the router via DCHP (no hard numbers). The router is also hooked up to a Motorola Surfboard cable modem.
The two Macs using ethernet have no problems at all, and can access the internet and share files and printers. The WiFi Mac, however, can access the Internet fine, but cannot mount the other machines as file servers. It doesn't even ping them.
What is going on in the setup of the router that is preventing the ethernet machines from being seen properly by the WiFi Mac? I would greatly appreciate your help.

I am not 100% clear on the whole situation, but this is my thought. Your Airport wifi is dishing out DHCP on a secondary network from your other device. You PB is getting on that network and not the linksys unit. Thus the reason they can not see each other. I think you would have to set you Airport up as a bridge and not a gateway for it to pass date through and not create a second network.

  • WLC 2504 Airplay not working over wireless

Currently we are trying to use Airplay within our network and we're having really wierd issues.
First, we have 2 subnets:  192.168.x.x and 10.x.x.x
We have our wired Apple TV's on 192.168.x.x. and our wireless Apple TV's on 10.x.x.x
We also have wired computers on both networks. But all of our wireless clients are on 10.x.x.x.
    So:
-Wired computers (in both subnets) can get to the wired Apple TV's.
-Wireless computer cannot get to any Apple TV's.
-Nothing can get to the wireless Apple TV's.
What I've done from other forums:
-I've enabled Global Multicast and set a multicast adddress
-I've tried it with and without IGMP snooping
-Enabled multicast routing on the switches that the Access Points are connected to
-Using Bonjour Browser, I don't see any AirTunes devices when I'm connected Wirelessly
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've done that, but nothing has changed.  But looking at the profiles:
    Profile Name                                   default-mdns-profile
    Profile Id                                         1
    Service Count                                  7
    No. of Interfaces Attached                0
No. of Interface Groups Attached      0
    No. of Wlans Attached                     1
I can't find where I can set in the WLAN where the profile is applied.  We only have 1 interface connected to the controller (interface 1 which is the management interface).  I'm assuming that it only needs to be applied to the WLAN, but I'm wondering if this is set to the right WLAN.  Where can I find this?

  • Does Home Sharing not work through a network extender?

Home sharing seems to cut out whenever I get into range of my network extender (Airport Express).
Here's my setup, it's pretty standard: Cable modem wired to Airport Extreme router, which is connected wirelessly to the MBP with my iTunes hard drive. All of this is in my living room.
I use the Airport Express to extend my network into the bedrooms.
Whenever I'm home sharing from my iTunes library on my iPhone, if I walk to my bedroom, it cuts out. It usually crashes the iPod app. If it doesn't completely crash it, I can get it to restart buffering if I walk back to the living room.
Does Home Sharing not work with wireless extenders? Do I have to change something in the set up?

However, when a device goes from being attached to one wireless device to another, there is often an interruption as the device must change the radio connection to the network. There is a brief period of no connectivity (a second or two)
Try starting the share while in your bedroom instead of the living room. I'll bet it works.
Makes sense - so it's a bug in the iPhone OS, that it's unable to recover from temporary interruptions to wifi connection?
However, I'm not so sure. Starting the share in the bedroom works as you suggest (since 4.3.2 - didn't under 4.3.1) - but as soon as you go back to the living room and the iPhone connects to a different base station the music stops playing. Note also that the shared library itself ceases to work. So for example you can't be in one room (on the extender) and add the shared library (without actually playing anything yet) then move to another room (on the base station) and play a track from the shared library. It just plays dead and you have to explicitly reload the shared library to get anything to play.
So is it maybe a bug also with iTunes that it can't keep up with a shared library client moving from one wifi station to another?
How do you report these things to the people that matter by the way?
