ITunes showing false podcast updates

My Itunes is showing (via the blue dot) that I have updated podcasts in one of my subscriptions, however when you open the subscription episode details, there is no new podcast, all have been listened to.
Does anuyone why it would do this and how do I fix it?

I've experienced the same situation. Fortunatly I have hyper threading enabled so when itunes ***** up all available CPU time on one thread I have a spare for other PC tasks.. This is VERY Annoying! If I find something I'll letcha know.
Currently running 6.0.3.5, downloading 6.0.4 as we speak but not holding my breath..

Why Does IT Take SOOOOO Long To Get New Shows And Podcast Updates!!!!! It seems to me that it takes and unusually long time for TV shows to be uploaded to itunes and it takes FOREVER (VH1) to get Podcast updates. Also I notice that Vh1's Best Week Ever is a hit or miss deal. Some weeks it's on iTunes and some weeks it's not......why?

The iTunes store simply provides a link to the originating podcast server.
When the podcast owner puts a new episode up, it is available.

Any chance the apps were purchased through another iTunes Store account? That's usually the cause of the symptoms you describe. Get Info on your apps and see if perhaps some were indeed purchased using a different account. If so, just sign into the iTunes Store using that account and you should then be able to update.

Itunes 10.1.1 will not show all podcast updates via Refresh function

I am having a problem with my podcast not refreshing on the itunes podcast page when a publish a new episode. If I use the "show all available episodes" function the episode appears but if I click refresh or the automatic update functions the podcast is not new seen.
This is only a problem with itunes 10.1.1 on OS X 10.6.5, the refresh function operates on my windows machine using the latest itunes version. I am awaiting a response from Libsyn where my podcasts are based but I was wandering if anyone is having any similar problems.
Once the podcast is selected as previously mentioned, download and play is normal

This problem has only appeared since the last itunes update to my knowledge. It may well be an rss related issue as it does not seem to effect other podcast's new episodes, though I cannot see why it should only be a problem on my Mac...and all subscribe settings are constant for all podcast issuers on both platforms...It might just be a hidden setting somewhere but I've tried everything

ITunes shows my podcast but no espisodes

My new podcast was set up through Libsyn and was added and approved by iTunes. I see the artwork on iTunes but there are no episodes. I than downloaded iPodcast for my phone, found Reality at Home and downloaded the first and second podcast, so did my wife. However, I have talked to others who pull up Reality at Home on their iPodcast app and there is nothing.

You have a 1st generation iPod Touch.

Itunes always crashes on podcast update.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but the search didn't turn up anything that was relavent to my specific problem. As stated in the title, itunes crashes during podcast updates. It happened both before and after the version upgrade. Itunes works fine without the podcast updates, however, I would like to continue to get my episodes of "Ask a Ninja", which I find hilarious. Without fail, it will crash upon updates. Its not due to a particular podcast or nething because even when I update one by one, it will still crash. I can still import songs from CD's and update the pod itself.

When I synch my iPod w. new MacBook Pro, laptop doesn't show which podcasts I've already listened to on the iPod. (My old MacBook did do that.)

I used to download new podcasts to my old MacBook, plug in my iPod, click the Synch button, and not only did the new podcasts get copied from the laptop to the iPod, but iTunes on my laptop would show which podcasts I'd already listened to, so it was easy to delete the old stuff, synch again, and the old podcasts would be gone from both the laptop and the iPod.
When I try to do the same thing with my new MacBook Pro (which I set up using the Migration Assistant to copy apps, including iTunes, from my old laptop), that doesn't happen: When I download a new podcast, plug in my iPod, and hit Synch, the new podcast isn't copied, nor does iTunes show which podcasts I've listened to since the iPod was plugged in the last time.
What used to be quick and easy is now cumberson and, because it's hard to remember which podcasts I've listed to and which I havened, error-prone!
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I haven't tested this, but it seems somewhat at odds with this recent MacWorld article, which gives a method for "capturing" the Lion installer downloaded via the Recovery HD, and then creating a bootable installer volume from it.

The article is meant for Macs that came pre-installed with Lion and therefore can't use the App store. The article describes a procedure to retrieve the Lion download not from /Applications but from a folder named "Mac OS X Install Data" which gets created at the root of the drive where Lion is to be installed. It's tricky, because normally that installer self-launches immediately after the download, and then deletes itself afterwards.
They distinguish this procedure from an earlier, simpler one that can be used if Lion gets downloaded via the App store - they reference an earlier article for that situation, which does involve retrieving the installer from /Applications. That method has been publicized in many places.
The inference for me was that the Recovery HD does not download anything to /Applications - otherwise the earlier procedure would work, and this new article would be unnecessary. As I said, thoiugh, I haven't tested anything.

ITunes Store and Program-update!

Meanwhile iTunes 7.7.1 is a really annoying thing
Today there is a sign in my program-folder, there´s a new update for one program.
If I click on "show update" there comes a message, that there aren´t any updates for me
(I only have one account in iTunes Store).
So I can see the "1" in the menue on the left side behind programs, but I´m not able to look
for, what update for which program is waiting.
Another problem:
Since I change the iTunes Icon, the programm ask during the start if I want allow incoming
network-connections.
I "allow" this in the firewall-prefs but nothing happened.
I only can hope, thats theres a new buggy-free version asap /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
I re-install iTunes only today for three times to get it better but without any success

ok, iTunes 8 is comming up and I hoped to get this issue solved.
No way. iTunes shows me the updates but it doesn´t install .
So I have to remove the three apps and install them complete .
But this can´t be the solution.
So what happened here ? why did iTunes not install the showed updates ?

Podcasts messed up - count in Itunes shows duplicates

Since the 11.2 update, my podcast number showing on my IPhone, in the ITunes sidebar, is now going up, up, up...
When I look at the entry, it is showing multiple copies of a podcast on the IPhone...although when I check the IPhone itself, there's only one copy.
This number goes up with each sync..it's now pushing 80!
Anyone have any ideas?

I hope this works for others. (11.2.2.3) Download the podcast(s) in question (in Tunes not your Ipod/ipad/Iphone) then highlight the ones to be deleted. Then go to the edit menu and delete from there. this is the only way so far i have found to DELETE the podcasts. one last step if like me you set up your podcasts in playlists because you don't want the stupid podcast app.... go the the playlist with you podcast and delete the episodes with the cloud by them. Kind of a pain in the you know what but it seems to be effective. One last hint DON'T subscribe to podcasts update them manually. I really hope this was helpful BEST of LUCK!!

You cannot update it if you can't get the latest version of iTunes. Actually, the latest version of iTunes will run in XP if you have Service Pack 2. Also, you posted in the iPad forum, and your profile shows you have an iPad, but in your post, you say it is an iPod. Is it an iPad or an iPod?

Don't panic. OS X 10.5.8 is the most popular PowerPC OS out there. People run it everyday without security breaches, including myself. It isn't Windows!

I have sorted it myself!!
Ipod is now in the top right corner, last time I clicked on it, it ejected it but by clicking on the actual ipod icon then it brings up your ipod. I restored it to factory settings and synced all my music and it now works again. Hope this can help anyone who ends up with the same problem.

Probably because the phone was hacked to unlock it. The update has re-locked it. You'll have to contact the carrier it's locked to and see if they will unlock it for you.
